The hotel is very outdated, and a little worn out, the WiFi only really works in the Lobby, and the lower floors of the hotel. The rooms are clean, but quite spartan, and the TV coverage is very poor. The hotel food is passable, but the breakfasts are not particularly to European tastes. You can get your Turkmen mobile phone credited in the reception

The reception staff can be friendly but the Charlak is overall poor. Breakfast is extremely basic and without taste. The rooms are often not very clean and many mattresses are worn out and pillows often smell of sweat. Maintenance is not good - bedside lamps may have dangerous wiring, most baths leak water across the floor. No facilities for making tea or coffee in the rooms.

Looks grand from the outside but rooms are dated. No kettle and water inside the room. Need to pay for hot water at the cafe inside the hotel. But great view from the room, especially during sunrise facing the Caspian Sea

I was quite impressed by the hotel initially. The facade and the lobby gave an impression that the hotel is pretty grand and modern. I love how white and bright the lobby is. When it comes to the rooms, I thought the room was quite big and spacious, though the red carpet felt kinda dated. The bed is okay but the pillows were too soft. What I liked was there was no shortage of power points and can charge and leave the phone on the bedside. The air conditioning seemed to be not working very well so they had another air cooler placed in the room. I did a walk around the hotel and was quite impressed with the facilities they had, like the bar, gym and indoor pool. The restaurant was also quite big and I had dinner and breakfast there. Dinner was pretty good and the price was reasonable. Breakfast the variety wasn't a lot but I would say it was decent for me and I was able to enjoy with whatever was available. Service of the staff could be improved. The staff at the reception weren't friendly and they didn't seem to attend to the guests quickly. A couple of times I see people waiting before the staff responded and it also happened to me as well. It like you asked them something, they looked very busy and then replied like 2-3 minutes later. First time it happened to me I wasn't really pleased I walked off before I got a response. Overall still pleasant to stay didn't encounter much issues.
