I didn't go to the recreation portion of the park. I stopped to see the history of the area. I read the bridge is the longest covered bridge west of the Mississippi. There is also an old mill, which was pretty awesome. From what I could tell, it didn't seem busy. Cool place.

Really nice place to hike. Easy if you want it to be, more challenging if you're willing. However, people need to learn to clean up after themselves, I packed out a grocery bag full of other people's trash. Definitely worth a visit though. Bring swim attire if brave enough. There are places to get in and it's a nice little swim while hiking.

Beautiful area! Wish people would clean up after themselves. Saw a lot of empty beer bottles and some trash. We gotta keep nature pristine.

Loved this place. Went early afternoon. Easily found parking, cost only $5 for the entire day. We walked & explored the old mill, then walked through the covered bridge to the recreation area on the other side, place was fairly empty. Plenty of tables to choose from, clean & lots of shade. We took lunch with us & then went down to the riverbank. Clean water, although it was ice cold! I couldn’t jump in, as hot as it was. But overall a very nice experience coming to this place.

Nice place to do some leisure hiking and swimming too. The water is usually very cold but refreshing. It does mice quickly so SAVE YOUR LIFE!!! WEAR A LIFE JACKET!!!! I rode my bike up down to horseshoe flat. Not bad of a ride. Round trip was around 11 miles. Say hi to the zebra 🦓

It's not too far of a drive for a nice day outdoors. Our family enjoyed a little nature walk exploring the area, some peaceful time by the river, and a nice picnic. Also, it's a good place for pictures! I'd love to try the river rafting there one day, it looks really fun.

What a great family day at the Salmon Festival. Great knowledge being passed down and taught from the fish, plants, gold and mineral mining and so much more. Wonderful hosts and hostess with each station where the kiddos can take part with interactive and educational activities. There were so mean different organizations involved to give the kiddos and families a wide variety of new skills and natural history. Thank you for all the hard work it took to have this event again. We sure have missed the good family local event.

Put on your hiking shoes for an easy walk (with children even). Take your time and let the scenery settle in for a peaceful stroll by a river with a swimming hole. Watch the buzzards size you up while you meander through wildflowers and rocks. There are historical buildings and a covered bridge to view if you wish. Parking is ample but not free. The public restrooms by the parking lot are clean. There are toilets on the trail. In early spring or late winter, you can watch the salmon spawn from a bridge below the parking lot. It's a short drive from Modesto and Oakdale.

Love this place. Beautiful scenery. Indian grinding rocks. Trails for hiking, which dogs are allowed on leash. A lot of history. Cemetery up the hill too.

Amazing place! Beautiful to walk through, there is a small museum that is free to enter, highly worth the stop! This was our first time visiting knights ferry, we absolutely loved it & plan on making a trip there every year!

What a beautiful place to enjoy some outdoor fun by the river. I came here before many years ago, and the old bridge was open to walk over. However, today's visit we found out the old bridge was closed. I didn't get to walk over it. I enjoyed being by the river. The fishing is now closed off due to the salmon run. We saw a hand full of salmon under the bridge. We had our 2 year old with us, so hiking wasn't on the list. There are a few trails to walk on. It was a beautiful visit. I will definitely be coming back.

Sometimes I stop at this place on my way home from work. Do a quick swim tonight's halfway point. Great place. Chill last part. Lots of little swoon holes. You can even jump a couple of different clips around them. Different trails. There are ample places too explorer

Super beautiful park, I mean truly just stunning, nice for a little walk, to go read/have a picnic or my favorite thing, just explore and do a little bouldering/scrambling up the bigger rocks

One of the areas best places to relax. Great hiking trails (covered bridge us currently off limits), small museum, access to river w loaner life vests available. Bathrooms were not perfect, but clean. Took a stroll to Knights Ferry Town & got some of their amazing ice-cream. Never disappoints.

Very beautiful peaceful place to visit. Lots of space for hiking and river watching. Lots and lots of birds and some ducks. It gets busy pretty quickly so I definitely recommend coming even before sunrise to beat the crowds if you like to hike without other people around. There is a bathroom and benches so a good place for families and fishing. The river is very high and fast right now so be aware of that. Parking costs $10 for the entire day. Tons of trash everywhere though! Remember pack in, pack out! Stop polluting our rivers.

This is a nice place to share a picnic, do some rafting or get a hike in. The hike was about 3.6 miles. It’s probably considered easy to medium hike with some hills. I think it’s dog friendly but must be leashed up. We brought snacks and some water for this out and back hike. You will have to pay a few bucks for parking, fyi. All in all it’s a good hike for beginners.

We had such a great time with friends! The Sunshine Rafting company was so nice and the river was beautiful. We all really enjoyed ourselves!

Nice, peaceful walk/hike.. there were people around but there is enough space to be secluded as well.. bbq area with benches and a safer area to enter the water if youd like. 5$ parking.. dog friendly.. bathrooms and trashcans along the trail

Love coming here for the day since HS in the 80's. Summer is hot but the water is cool with shallow places to set a lawn chair. Spring and Fall are best. Kayaking or open water rafting are really popular. Lots of shady areas, picnic tables, and nice restrooms. Fabulous to spend a day!

👍👍 It was a nice day for a hike. Stayed on the left side of the river until the end of the path. Not too crowded, passed a handful a people on the way. During summertime it's perfect for swimming, there's even some spots to go cliff jumping. Great day hike.

👍 Very peaceful until you run into the homeless parked in the good fishing spots. Water is very low but there was surprisingly less trash in the floor. We still found peace and happiness through it all. With Jesus everything becomes joyful

👍 We’ve lived in the Central Valley and driven by knights ferry countless times. We finally decided to visit today. It was beautiful. I’d call this a hidden gem in the valley. The bridge and old town site were very interesting. The rocks and river were beautiful and there was ample area for exploring...
