Wonderful experience we found the trip on our own and it has a set price when you arrive per person you can bring drinks and food they also sell some before you leave the views felt like a dream it is about 2 hours long they don’t stop but to take photos of different areas

Nice way to see the area. Just rock up and buy your tickets at the booth and sit at the waiting area with several food vendors, they fill up the boats up to 40 people on a boat. Our boat had quite some power and a very proficient captain / guide (spanish only). Saw spidermonkey, crocodiles, birds, spiders and ofcourse the breathtaking views. Halfway there’s an opportunity to get typical snacks from a shipchandler - hilarious to see. Hilarious to see how the boats connect there to provide hungry explorers with drinks, chips and fruits :-) Ps: it absolutely hurts to see the amount of plastic waste along the way in contrast to the beautiful nature. Be prepared... 😵

A few restaurants, 40 minute long wait, and a huge negative, one boat driver left his engine running, so while waiting we all inhaled fuel fumes. It was so bad even the driver had to get out of the smoke. Don't believe the touts, they lie. 10 minutes wait from a tout "quickly quickly" is forty minutes wait. Go to a counter.

Absolutely beautiful You have many things to do locally starting for discover the local food at the market or all the restaurants located next to the deck where you can also take a boat for a long tour visiting g the main dams of the Grijalva River and the stunning landscapes of the canyon (I owe you the pictures, I was enjoying very much the view).

Beautiful scenery in early April but I believe it might be better in rainy season. Saw very few animals. On the plus side I didn't see any of the plastic thrash other people complained about. Got a van ride from my hotel to make the 2 pm tour which was to be the last but they seem to run later than that. We did about 90 minute boat ride to the end where we had an opportunity to buy drinks and snacks. Boat captain asked for tips and then a 30 min boat ride back to the beginning.

It’s a beautiful tour, however there are some downsides: Boats don’t leave on time and wait for more people to come. The tour guide only speaks Spanish. And there are so many street vendors constantly trying to sell you something, even when you day no many many times.

Amazing experience, very informative safe and we saw plenty of animals. They even have a snack bar where we bought chips and micheladas.

The canyon would be beautiful if there were not so much trash. It's a shame. I know they pull out 5000 tons of trash every year, but it's not enough. They should address the real problem and develop an efficient trash collection system in the city of Tuxtla and the surrounding villages. They make a lot of money from the hundreds or thousands of tourists that enter every day. Better charge more and use the money for environmental clean up. Maybe we should just boycott the tour until they clean it up. Talking about the tour: We had to wait over an hour to get the boat filled up, because there are so many competing tour companies. The tour was in Spanish only, which I have no problem with. But the unfriendly and bossy tour guide was just monotonously talking his lines with no motivation at all.  I would not do it again.

The boat trip itself is gorgeous and definitely worth it! Just be careful when you arrive (by colectivo for example, like us). Staff from the boat companies approached us directly saying that there's a boat almost full, and if we wanted to come and join them now we could leave right away instead of having to wait for a boat to fill up. So we followed him and bought the ticket. When we turned around the guy had disappeared and of course, we were the first to arrive and waited for another 1,5 hours for the boat to leave. It's better to walk down the embarcadero yourself and check which boats already have people waiting.

The guy on the motorcycle guided us all the way to the dock. Restrooms were clean. Plenty of snack options. Reasonable price. Our guide was very knowledgeable. Lots of wildlife. We highly recommend it.

We had a great tour! Tons of time to take amazing pictures. The tour guide stops when there are animals so you can get pictures and he talks about them.

You can embark here or from San Cristobal or from Tuxtla. The tour has high points and lows. Lows are the crowded boats and bad weather. And when they make a pass under a sprinkling waterfall and get you wet.. annoying. The Highs are the beautiful high rock structures with formations you can see, a cave you pass by, the crocodile, monkeys and birds you see. And just overall surrounding by nature. In the end, I would recommend the tour.

Easy access from the square, 2 hour boat ride through the canyon to the damn. Boats dont leave at a certain time they leave when they are full. Bathrooms are 5 pesos. Snacks are available and a nice touch by the vendors is they lend you a cooler.

Boat tour through Sumidero Canyon. Impressed with the hydro electric power used here and shared use with Guatemala. We saw monkeys and alligators. The boat tour was very safe and beautiful as well as informative!!

Beautiful location but they really need to take care of the trash issue

This is an incredible - awe inspiring place - the landscape, nature and light *but* it really needs to be looked after better. There is so much plastic waste in the water it is heartbreaking to see. Please protect your nature and animals, it will only help tourism too 👍

Easy to get to, welcoming, and not too commercial, although the boats were going out two by two, full of clients Still, very very well worth the sights, you re not going to find these sights in many places around the world!

8/10 totally recommend! Very friendly people! If you buy drinks they will lend you the cooler. You need to take a sombrero, if there is sun it could get hard. Beautiful place and guides are generally awesome (mine was). Group boats are fun, private are very expensive ($4300 pesos at time of post) I could see several things going wrong. Great experience overall!
