You can’t visit Chiapas and not check out this canyon. I was surprised though that it’s not being mantained too well. The gorge is truly amazing. 200ft rock faces. We did get to see crocodiles and a spider monkey briefly before zooming away. We also saw pelicans and vultures.The commentary is in Spanish. The amount of garbage seems to have improved as they are now cleaning the river, however, every time it rains all the rubbish from the surrounding areas lands up in the gorge. The boat is fast, however we felt safe and had life jackets. A sunhat is a definite must together with suncream. There is no cover or toilet facilities.

The place is indeed beautiful, but be careful while planning your hiking trip. You will not enter to the park after 8 am. Hikers can let in between 6-8 am. After only cars are allowed… I feel so disappointed.
