Love this space. Everything from the restaurant to the house, museum and the gardens this is beautiful and informative. The staff are friendly and helpful. We got to meet an artist from Mass. who was working on an art project for the garden area. The history and efforts put forward by the founders is truly amazing. Grateful for their investment and sacrifice for the indigenous people. Definitely a great, peaceful spot to visit while in Sancris. Enjoy!

Great museum, especially if you’ve seen the Indiana Jones movies a thousand times! Will come back to try the betie pie!

Stayed at the hotel here and loved being wrapped in the history of this place. Lovely, authentic room with fireplace and fresh wood every evening. The museum and gardens were a huge plus, learned so much and wow, what a life! The rooms are in a more private area so never felt like you were in the middle of a tourist attraction.

The Na Bolom is a San Cristóbal de las Casas institution well worth a visit for the museum and the garden. It helps to read a bit about the accomplishments and lives of Trude Duby Blom and her husband Frans Blom before visiting, to appreciate what you are seeing. We alway reserve in advance one of the historic rooms with a fireplace whenever we are in San Cristóbal. It's a magical and tranquil place, out of the occasionally chaotic city center. The Crafts Market, Santo Domingo Church, and Textile Museum are an easy walk away up quiet residential streets. The colorful city market and local van transportation to nearby towns like Zinacantán and Tenejapa are just up the street from Santo Domingo Church. The main walking street of Real de Guadalupe is walkable as well. We usually take a taxi back to the Na Bolom after a busy day out. The long-term staff are friendly and wonderful.

Went to the museum and I found it very interesting. Entrance fee is 60 pesos, you buy a ticket in the shop opposite of the entrance. Lots of information on Frans and Gertrude, but also on the Lacandon people and their way of living. The garden is beautiful and so is the house itself.

This museum its the contained obsession of a Danish explorer and his wife with Chiapas and its people. Its beautiful, engaging and unique. It feels like you are walking through the house of very cultured people. Totally worth it

If you love learning about Maya Culture and history of the 1900s to present day you will love this Museum and hotel Combination. It also includes Photography galleries, a horticultural center and rooms and rooms of art and gardens. The restaurant Cuisine is very affordable but INCREDIBLY delicious. High quality, fresh authentic and some of the best we had on the trip! It's not boring safe Cuisine- - it's really an experience. The Staff was so friendly and enthusiastic! The rooms are cozy, cool, and very Comfortable. We loved having a fire in the room after a soak in the jacuzzi tub. Plus there are additional bathrooms near by. Internet works great. Some people might not like the following: About a 5-10 minute wait to get a taxi outside. street pavement outside a little rough. About 10- 15 min walk to busier areas. No TP goes in the toilet.

It was a small museum, but for 60 pesos it was totally worth it! Especially because the building itself was also really beautiful.

Cool history and mayan artifacts. The gardens out back were nice too. Would give it 5 stars but elements of many exhibits feel out of date and forgotten

Magical! The perfect place to explore San Cristobal. The staff and customer service was excellent. Our room was very comfortable. We became attached to the Tzotzil Indigenous women that sit in the court yard making crafts. Our daily conversations were wonderful and educational. Because of Hotel Na Bolom our memories of San Cristobal will be forever.

(Translated by Google) Beautiful neoclassical building built in 1891, originally intended to be a seminary. The house was restored, furnished and inhabited by Frans Blom and Gertrude Duby with the most exquisite taste of the greatest collectors and their deep mark can be seen in every corner. Pre-Columbian, ethnographic, historical and documentary objects coexist in harmony with art in all forms of expression, especially the popular one from Chiapas. The trees, plants and buildings have made this space the favorite of all visitors to San Cristóbal de Las Casas.

My favorite museum in the city. The staff is extremely friendly and knowledgeable, and the organization that now takes care of the space is very devoted too. I found the introductory video very interesting too (as it shows the history of the couple that lived in the house and eventually made it a public space). Then the rooms are curated to showcase how mapping and cartography have evolved with historical visions, and can easily reproduce/impose extractionist views on local communities (in this case, the lacandones, mainly). Great experience!

I didnt stay on the hotel, just visted the museum. But very creepy vibe and negative energy like something bad happened here in the past. Left after 10 mins.

People at Casa Na Bolom are hard at working maintaining cultural integrity and natural habitats in Chiapas. Would definitely recommend go look at their green house and learn about frans & gertrude two foreigners that changed the environmentalist land scape in mexico for ever.

  • 5/5 Toby S. 7 months ago on Google
Wow, really interesting museum covering local tribes and explorer history. Very unique artefacts. Beautiful garden to explore also.

  • 3/5 Marle van D. 5 months ago on Google
Beautiful house and garden, however not a lot of information on the indigenous people the couple studied, not what we expected

  • 5/5 Perfectly L. 9 months ago on Google
Visited the museum. Which is mostly about the adventures of the European couple who lived here in the late 1940's and early 50's. Many early photos and artifacts of the loal indigenous people. They depict the life and times of the native population. Rather than race through the exhibit, take some time to sit on one of the leather benches in the entry area. Listen to the birds chirping. Occasionally someone plays the grand piano. Lovely! Enjoy the beauty of the gardens. Wonder what it must have been like to live here.

  • 4/5 Joanie G. 1 year ago on Google
Definitely worth the stop, beautiful place with a lot of history. Make sure you go across the street to watch the video about the museum in the gift shop.

  • 5/5 Kay P. 1 year ago on Google
I deeply appreciate the time, effort and care put into creating this amazing museum, and keeping it preserved. This is a must see museum in San Chris. Take your time to explore everything including the gardens. Look up to see the trees. The man at the gate was very sweet and helpful. 30 pesos is a small price to pay for a wealth of authentic information. I was nearly moved to tears. Thank you for bringing this awareness to the public.

  • 5/5 Natalie V. 1 year ago on Google
An interesting and inspiring museum with a video to watch, historical artefacts and more modern day information about the couple who lived in the house! Really enjoyed it - it was my favourite museum in San Cristóbal.

  • 5/5 Michael A. 1 year ago on Google
visited the museum and cafe across the street, and was totally blown away by the story of these two pioneers, and the incredible photos by Trudi Blom (there is a book avail of these photos) ... Their home and surrounding gardens / rooms looked so beautiful, if I ever make it back to San Cris I plan to stay here.

  • 5/5 Jan W. 1 year ago on Google
The museum is very nice, the staff friendly and the whole house has a magic vibe around it. Very interesting to learn and improve your historical knowledge about the founding figures and their exploration of the lacandon!

We toured this cultural museum which is also a champion of ecological conservation and the preservation of history in this region. We learned about the civilizations of the people living in the rain forest of Mexico, Guatemala and Honduras. It is without a doubt a must see. We walked there from downtown.

  • 5/5 Sarah K. 2 years ago on Google
Incredible garden that just keeps going forever. Also love that it was started as a way to educate visitors about the indigenous people of the region and an attempt to help preserve their culture. I learned far more there than I did from numerous tour guides at archeology sites.

Delicious food and great service. We came here for breakfast three times in our four day stay in San Cristóbal. The restaurant can be hard to find; just sit down at a table and wait for a waiter to appear!

(Translated by Google) In my opinion the best place to visit in all of San Cristóbal. It contains much of Lacandon history. I recommend visiting the Museum where you will appreciate beautiful objects used and collected by the Na Bolom couple. Can you imagine seeing so much beauty in the wear of everyday objects of that marriage? Eat in its restaurant indescribable flavors created not only by the seasonings but by the atmosphere of an architecturally and historically beautiful house. (Cheaper than any restaurant on the shopping streets). The botanical garden, a cool walk, on this site there is accommodation rental. In its handicraft shop, you will find extremely inexpensive objects and truly made by Lacandones. You get richer when you know this place and with less expense than any restaurant in the commercial streets of San Cristóbal (Original) En mi opinión el mejor sitio para visitar en todo San Cristóbal.

Beautiful museum near the center of San Cristobal. Would have given it a higher rating if there had been more explanation of the objects displayed. The most explanation is given by twenty year old video that is displayed at the reception desk.
