All the poor reviews are correct. We arrived around 9pm, everything locked up, nobody home. Attempted to contact โ€œmanagementโ€ via several numbers on a whiteboard outside. I left multiple voicemails and texts. After an hour of no reply we contacted a Booking.com agent to start the refund process. Luckily the Super 8 down the road had a nice room at an affordable price so we stayed there all week. It was great! Still havenโ€™t heard anything back from the Joshua tree ranch house. Wish we had read more reviews as it looks like this place has a history of scamming people.

Terrible communication, as in "non-existent" communication skills. I placed a booking here, got no email confirmation of any sort. I called the listed numbers, texted them, emailed him, just to see if he received the reservation. After a couple days of no response, I wrote again to cancel the reservation, since I didn't want to risk depending on somebody who doesn't seem to have a great track record at providing the reservations (based on reading many of his other reviews). Still haven't heard anything back from him.

We enjoyed every minute of our stay at Joshua Tree Ranch House. The room is clean, the design is very well thought through and the owner is super friendly and welcoming. We loved the fact that we could walk to several restaurants and cafes. The drive to the park's west entrance was short, so we went hiking very early in the morning, came back during lunch time when it was too hot and spent some time at the pool before we returned to the National Park for stargazing at night. We would recommend everyone to stay here.

Even though we had told Caan we should be there around 6 pm, and gave him a 30-minute heads up, we had to wait for our room to finish being cleaned. Then the room was not well insulated so you can hear everything around. Even people just walking across the parking lot. The bed was so uncomfortable we both had back issues after the 1st day. We had to request hand towels and toilet paper. (We talked to 4 other rooms that all were waiting for TP that day...) The second morning I could barely walk because of the uncomfortable bed and the shower dripping all night I was unable to sleep for 2 nights. The pool that is open year-round is not heated and way too cold to swim in. It's hard to get a hold of any one as you only get a text and he rarely answers back, if he does it is a long time later... Caan had cancelled a guest's reservation because he didn't want to clean the room or something... When another couple showed up and there were people already in their room things got interesting. He then all the sudden had a room for the he just needed to clean it... Managment here is joke!!! We requested an early check-out and refund because of the conditions of the hotel. We have been ignored by Caan and the owner. The only thing I liked about the place was the French press coffee pot. The reto decorations were also kind of cute...

We booked a room on the website and gave our CC info, the page indicated the request was accepted yet we never received an email confirmation. We reached out prior to check in to inform them of our arrival time by calling, then texting because voicemail said it was better to text, then emailing. No response. When we arrived the motel was empty except one car and a light in the back room. A sign on the first room said late arrivals (it was only 9pm) would receive a call with a code to the lockbox with the key to the room, we never received that. Also room 1 by the sign was open with no one inside, it was very disconcerting. Tried calling again, no answer. Gave up. We were very lucky it wasn't the busy season or we wouldn't have been able to get another hotel room in Twentynine Palms, the next town over. Based on the reviews this type of thing has happened before. If you are someone that likes solid travel plans this may not be the place for you.

Excellent stay and couldn't be happier. Caan was pleasant and easy to work with. We had everything we needed with great amenities. Very charming and spacious cottage (#1) and will definitely book at the Ranch House again. The premise allowed pets and have a lovely pool!!! Couldn't ask for anything more.

Clean place, friendly owner. Lots of walkable places for food and drinks and close to west park entrance. Large yard, we saw a rabbit run by the pool, and there is a bbq and several tables and chairs to enjoy outside if staying long. Would recommend over an air bnb pull out sofa. Room 2 had a queen, private bathroom with shower, and small kitchen nook with mini fridge/freezer, toaster oven, and electric kettle and french press. Room also had dishes and silverware.

I booked my stay through mybooking.com and got a confirmation email from Joshua Tree ranch house. However, when I arrived around 1 I tried contacting the owner to get the code to my room but he didn't answer. I figured I'd do some hiking and come back and call again later and still no answer. I probably called about 50 times and every single time... no answer. I came all the way from Wisconsin by myself for a vacation and this happened. This ruined the whole day I had planned and never got refunded by the owner. Stay far away from here...

This is kind of a motel in rustic style. Decorated with cute stuff probably from a thrift store, but with clean, nearly new kitchen equipment, good wifi (no television, but we could watch television on our iPads), great airco (to warm the room during our stay when it was cold) and a small clean bathroom (except for the desert cockroach I saw one night). But there were some issues that were not so good/cute: no white bed linen, only 2 โ€˜colorfulโ€™ beachtowels instead of a set of towels, spiderwebs in the corners and lamps, the seating of the chair was demolished (they put a sheephide on it to cover this up) and the cupboards under the sink were very dirty. Overall, it was okay for the price: close to the west entrance of Joshua Tree NP, parking in front of our room, on walking distance of some restaurants and shops.

Great idea and beautiful design, but the price comes with a caveat. The place canceled reservations due to bedbugs and said they would refund, however it's not possible to contact them for and my refund hasn't processed after 2 weeks :( I'm broke, so this is disheartening to say the least.

This place was exactly what we hoped it would be! Super quiet but still a stone's toss away from the main drag with all the amenities/coffee/breakfast/etc, so you're really getting the best of both worlds. It's also right next to the park entrance as I think some other folks mentioned. we got to hang out on our little porch area and listen to the birds sing during sunset (which was a pretty idyllic and embarrassingly new experience for two people who's usual sunset sounds are car alarms and sirens back home). Caan was great - we had an issue with the internet the first day, and he was super attentive and had it handled by the time we got back from the park. The rooms themselves are clean, cute, and a perfect place to crash after a day of exploring, with an especially comfy bed (almost too comfortable for attempting to wake up for an early hike, hah), a small but mighty mug collection, a mint green minifridge. Doesn't get much better honestly. We loved it here and would for sure stay again. Thanks Caan!

This place was very disappointing. They donโ€™t maintain the place, have a front desk, or try to respond to their customers. If you want to try it, try calling them right now and see what you get. Thatโ€™s the experience they offer. You can do better.

This is an incredible place to stay! Close enough to all the restaurants & shops, right around the corner from the park entrance but yet far enough away thats it is SO QUIET! rooms were clean and comfy...we loved the unique retro feel of our decor and fixtures. Easy check in and no one bothered us! The grounds are a beautiful place to sit and drink coffee, bbq, etc but if you travel in the fall, layer up! We didnt realize how cold it can get outside! Great star watching too. Slept wonderfully. Will definitely return.
