Here is the original outlet where it started. Building used to be tin roofed and it has since been transformed into a modern shop house. Place was clean and service was fast. We visited late at around 5pm and they had only lean pork meat left. Taste was okay and unremarkable, my experience was similar to 12 yrs ago when I tried this - never a fan and not worth the exorbitant price. There is cubed vegetable soup and sambal (which is really stir fry green chillies) is spicy for a strong chilli eater.

Delicious pork with rice, especially for cruncy pork skin. Try visit to this place earlier if you like crispy and cruncy pork skin, because the stok limited and they always sold out

I’ve ordered the special set. Unfortunately pork skin was fried as they told me they don’t have the grilled one. Soup tasteless. Chicken was super chewy. Don’t recommend. If you want to eat Babi guling I don’t recommend this place.

Place: Open area, they only have fans so I think still manageable in our case. Expect all stuff like smelling smoke while having your meal. Serving is quite just right and for its price, 50k-75k already a good deal if you want to try local cuisine. Staff were nice and friendly. Toilet: Not so accessible. It you want to try local cuisine- this is the place to be.

The taste is so so, We ordered Babi Guling Special Rp 55,000 per portion... In my Opinion Babi Guling bu Ning, Karya Rebo, & Dobiel taste is better than Oka 🙈 There is no soup available at Oka ...

The original stall has been through a major renovation. It’s definitely look more presentable as compared to 8 years ago. The menu seems to be changed as it’s seem like crispy deep fried pork skin was not served anyone. The spicy chili sauce also seems different. Ordered one their special Babi Guling and I can say their serving is generous.

Paid 75k for small portion and limited menu. As a Balinese that have tried so many Babi Guling, I was really disappointed of what they served. I was expecting my Babi Guling arrive with complete menu but they didn’t tell me when I order that the lawar & urutan was put of stock. I was surprised when they gave me the food as you see in the picture (I already ate a little of it). They said they give me more meat to replace what was missing but, but it doesn’t seems so. I come here few times to bring my friends when they visit Bali, but I will not recommend this place anymore after this experience.

Flew across the globe to dine at Warung Babi Guling Ibu Oka. The place has transformed significantly since our last visit years ago. We ordered one meal to share and thoroughly enjoyed it. A true pleasure to meet the legendary Ibu Oka herself. What an honor to have the chance to take a picture with her! Until next time!

Overrated food, can't taste the spice on the meat, not crunchy skin,no soup, quite pricy and only can pay with cash so for cashless people, must prepare to have cash in here. Already try lots of babi guling place, always served with soup, cheap and tasty. This is my opinion.

Overall Experience - personally feel babi guling is overrated 1. Babi guling - pork is tender and white, pork skin is amazing and crispy, chilli is average, overall savoury, looks appetising 2. Service - friendly staff 3. Serving time - 20 mins 4. Affordability - affordable 5. Atmosphere - clean

We've been here for more than 20yrs! We have seen them go thru many transformations. My family simply loves it. Its basically white rice with pork. The taste is quite unique and it can 'get' on to you, just like how it did to my family. But for me, I'm ok with it. The taste is not too bad, the soup is simple but nice, the meat is pleasant with crackling pork skin. The restaurant is by the main road so it's not diff to locate. Price wise, I'd say it has gone dearer with little improvement with quality or quantity. Service was not the greatest but this is a rural joint, so I'm not complaining. In any case, if you're in Ubud, give it a try.

Best and perhaps the pioneer of roasted pork or babi guling in Bali. You ll get variety of pork dishes. Balinese really know how to cook this kind of meat up until the skin ... you ll taste the flavor you never had before in your life. Definitely worth to visit!

Such an overrated restaurant. Won't come here again for the second time. All the food tastes almost the same. 👎

Nothing like the other Babi guling stores. This store is more expensive than the other stores and doesn’t even serve the actual pig skin and vegetable. The meat is dry and chewy, chili is also not spicy or tasty. The only advantage they are located closer to the central area. But the building is also in bad shape. Lots of water damage to the structure. Walls leaking everywhere. Please skip this place if you truly want to enjoy the full Babi guling experience.

[6 Oct 2023] Got recommended this place by both a friend and a local. We mainly wanted to try their pig. It's not a very upmarket establishment it's more run down, but my eyes were more on the food than the actual place. Service wasn't spectacular the staff weren't the usual level of friendliness you'd expect. You can sense they are just there to work and not much else. We ordered the Babi Guling and it was a fully pretty decent. The crispy skin was fragrant and the chicken with the spicy sauce was not bad. However I felt it was a bit too overcooked. The fried meat (I think it should be the pork) was great with a delicious amount of crunch and flavour. They gave a soup on the side and it was loaded with ingredients. It was pretty good as well.

it was great for a quick meal. just get a special set for everything. we didnt want blood sausages so they were flexible in swapping with more vegetable. must try

Unapologetic, Babi guling at its most local. No frills and as it is Bali style ✅ spice is great, masks the porky taste ✅ potato perfectly boiled ✅ pork skin crispy though could be thinner

We were in the mood for Babi Guling 🐷and decided to give this place a try. We feel it deserves more than its current 3.8 rating. The food was delicious, service extremely rapid and other than the fact that they were out of pig skin (🥲), which they replaced with extra meat in the dish, the meal was terrific and the price very decent for central Ubud. Definitely recommend…plus it’s right across the street from the Ubud Palace if you are going to see the show. 😉

Very underwhelming experience. Service is below normal standard in Ubud. With regards to ambiance, it’s simple, but I guess paying attention to the toilet would be nice. Food was ok, but not among my favorite. The price if fair though.

This is a must try. The meat was great and tender and juicy. The skin was crunchy and full of flavors. The salad was great as well. We also had some fried whatever. Its was delicious. And dont forget to try the blood sausage. I never wanted to eat it. But i gave it a try and o my goodness. I ordered a whole plate only with bloodsausage. Its was so full of flavors. I will never forget this

Went here after recommendation from our tour guide. Good place to try Babi Guling. The “Special” dish is amazing. Spicy in the right amount, although the homemade green chilli served on the side is excellent as well.

Not sure why review is below 4. This place is LEGIT. Everything about it is nice. Is a side stall with amazing food. My favorite. Nothing fancy but definitely amazing! This place for sure deserve my 5 ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐. I guess some people expect fancy service. It's a local road stall my G's

This place is amazing! Like best food I’ve had in indonesia good! Don’t pass this up 65,000 for the special and it’s life changing

  • 2/5 Adrian T. 9 months ago on Google
Ordered their “special”, while the porsi is big compared to other local babi guling warung., however their bumbu is not tasty and sambal is not spicy, worst of all the skin doesn’t crackle when you bite in i.e. underwhelming. Better off trying other authentic local babi guling, I’d say this is a watered down tourist version, gives a bad impression of what babi guling really should be, and it’s way way way overpriced.

Never been bored to ate here. Price a little bit expensive than other "Bigul" .. but its taste very worthy with the price. Almost every day come here while I was stayed in ubud 😅

Amazing experience, brilliant food just a lack of pork skin. The food was a bit spicy. However the taste was amazing. It was a bit chewy and tough in places.

I’ve tried many babi guling in my life and probably the blandest version I’ve tasted. The soup had no flavour, no kick. No Babi sate and for the price it isn’t worth.

The price is right! Hands down best place of you want to eat a lot for a little. Fried meat and white rice never tasted so good. Beware of the spicey peppers offered on the table. Yikes! Staff was nice. All drink options are visible in the open fridge. Smoothies are just ok

One of the famous local delicacy spot. The place and menu items brings back fond memories of old times visit to Bali. Pricey as compared to the others but still within affordable tourists rate. There are 3 spots of the same business located nearby. Oh and they have kid’s portion as well.

We tried 3 different babi guling restaurants/stalls in Ubud and this is the worst and most expensive. Better go somewhere less touristic. The meat was a bit over cooked and there was no vegetable (only potato). The skin was sold out and was replaced with 2 crackers with the same price which is disappointing. The service was lukewarm.

Food is good but expensive compared to other places selling babi guling. Pande Egi is much better but hard to get to. Tip: Go here for lunch as they can run out of the crispy skin.

This is apparently where Antony Bourdain feasted, so why am I slightly disappointed? The green coconut juice was fresh and sweet. The pork skin - was chewy. The lean pork strips was flavourful, so was the marinated crispy chicken skin ( really good ). Anyway, it’s good to have a meal here and use it as a benchmark.

It is the famous babi guling in Ubud, they have at least 3 outlets here. However, I think really so so only. I ordered the ‘special’, inside only the tasteless white meat, fried pork(which it is not nice at all), and a super hard skin. So hard that very difficult to bite. Chili was not really hot, mostly salty taste. But I heard from the local, it was really good back then.

Delicious when eaten hot, but quite spicy. Pork skin little not crispy. But everything good, must taste when you travel in Bali

good pork with super crispy skin and pork rind. goes well with the spicy chilis. i can do without the deep fried pork and sausage. good simple pork meal. i had takeout bc they close (early).

Really enjoyed the Babi Guling here. I was told I had to eat Babi Guling whilst in Ubud (as it was renowned for it). We had the Special and it did not disappoint. Was probably the best Babi Guling I have had in Bali.

We always come here when we’re in Ubud. Location is central, staff are always so friendly and welcoming. Food is delicious—in my opinion one of the best Babi Guling places out there. 70k packet comes with a mixed plate, steamed rice and soup. No air conditioning here of course as most eateries around Ubud so expect to get hot.

👍 Ordinary food in a spectacular location, in the middle of rice paddy. The crispy duck is really crispy, a bit too dry. The sate lilit is delicious. The gurami goreng bit bland / tasteless.
