Senseless but pretty. Let's start with "pretty" - it's located in the midst of rice fields, the furniture is clean and well maintained, the outside shower is fun to use. There is plenty of beautiful vegetation outside. Now the "senseless" - the room we got, unit 1, had huge windows, except they are facing the main walkway to the lobby. Both the staff as well as all of the occupants of the rooms pass in front of it. So you feel like a fish in a bowl with everyone looking in. The only solution is to draw the curtains, which of course dims the room and defeats the purpose of being able to see the pretty vegetation outside. On a different note, they do serve excellent breakfast and the seating area is perfectly located to observe the rice fields. By the way, the villas are located away from the main roads where taxis can get to. There are motorcycles that drive by but the path is not wide enough for cars. This, of course, is part of the whole point of coming here - it's much quieter. But do keep in mind that you'd have to haul your luggage up the hill, which may be just fine if you have a backpack, but less so if you have a suitcase.

Had an incredible 10 night stay at The Samara. Located the middle of rice paddies close to central location. They offer free drop off and pick up via scooter to the Main Street, super helpful if you don’t have your own scooter. As a solo female traveller I felt absolutely safe. Will definitely recommend for anyone to stay here! Also recommend Pukako cafe not too far away, ubud yoga house is also close by and great classes.

Peaceful idyllic location, the friendliest of staff, world-class location. Many good walks in the peaceful rice field paths from here. Take the "jungle track" to Ubud or the scooter path straight into Ubud market. Small maintenance issues in the rooms were noticed but this does not detract from a wonderful stay!

Had a wonderful time! Travelled with a toddler and stayed in the 2 bedroom pool villa. What can I say, from the location, to the view, to the service, it's worth every penny. The resort is far enough from the noisy and busy streets of Ubud, yet it's in the centre of Ubud.. Also, you can call the resort and they will pick you up/drop you 24/7.. The staff are really friendly, always with a smile. They will make sure you enjoy your vacation while they take care of everything else for you there. There were some renovation works goin on.. looks like they are gearing up for the year end.. nevertheless we did not have any disturbance. It was a memorable first trip for my little one and I know where I will be staying next time I visit Ubud!

Very nice spot, which actually is near the center of ubud but still very quiet! Hotel is owned by a nice Italian guy, so there is great food! We stayed in one of the few rooms, which was maybe a little small... unfortunately the beds or mattresses are not that comfortable...also the pool is quit small with just a few loungers around...All in all good for a couple nights!

Idyllic and tranquil place to stay. Nestled among the beautiful green rice farms and dense trees, this place is perfect for those on romantic vacations, and families with kids. Service was very prompt and staff is highly courteous and helpful. The only down side it's that the last 400 metres access to the property it's not motorable, and must be either walked, or covered on bikes. The staff however, are highly efficient and quick to pick up and drop, within minutes of a call.

Stayed with my family and we truly enjoyed the place and the experience surrounding this establishment. Located in Ubud centre yet secluded and surrounded by beautiful paddy fields. Perfect for morning trek and bike (provided free for hotel guests!). The staff are always attentive and can pick you up or drop you off near the center. Thank you Samara!

Our family of 4 loved our stay for 4 nights. It was so beautiful to be close to centre of Ubud but have zero noise from traffic since we’re at the edge of rice fields and accessible only by scooter. The distance to Ubud centre is 1km easy walking or by scooter with staff. The handling of the luggage could be logistically hard if you travel with large suitcases so warn the staff so they have a chance to provide the great service/help we received during the whole of our stay. Thank you “Jeri” for our breakfasts and scootering us around and to Rusma for our reception services!! 🙏🙏🙏 You can tell the encroachment of new developments so enjoy The Samara while you can!! Highly recommended.

The service at Samara was awesome they couldn’t do enough for you. Ni was awesome with communication when booking and in the lead up to the stay and very helpful organising things like a cooking class and in villa massages. We included breakfast and that was good a la carte. The location was very quiet among the rice fields great location and we had the 2 brdm villa with its own pool which was great. Note it is about a 10min walk from the villas and abit of uphill on the way back. There was an option of going up and down on the motorbikes with the staff if you were abit tired and hot. We walked it most of the time but did take the motorbikes now and then. The Villa did shows some signs of deterioration needs abit of maintenance, plaster needed fixing on the walls. Bit of a refresh would make it look abit smarter and tidier as it wasn’t that cheap. Overall we still really enjoyed our stay.

We had a wonderful stay at the 2 bedroom villa. Rusmah was very helpful and the entire staff was great, ferrying us and kids on the scooter whenever we needed to. The villa is clean, comfortable and the pool was great. The location has also gorgeous views! We highly recommend. Only thing to improve was the wifi - we had to keep restarting the router but honestly the wifi was not something you need as well 😆

Lovely restful place. Staff excellent. Good food. Private pools. Aircons a bit noisy. A bit hard to get to (scooter or walking no car access). But worth it. Reasonably priced.

Great service. You cannot go wrong with rice field views in the morning

Super professional and welcoming, always ready to help, at the same time that they have one of the best spots in Ubud. I will definitively repeat if I ever come back to Bali.

Lovely place! They do free motorbike rides to and from town whenever you want The place is lovely and very clean. The staff are amazing. Very helpful and very friendly. The rooms were very nice and cleaned everyday. The restaurant is very nice and fairly priced, we ate there most days. It's such a peaceful and tranquil place. Definitely worth a stay Oh and there's free afternoon tea and breakfast! My favourite breakfast so far!

A nice hotel with villas in the middle of the rice fields @ UBUD Bali. Very confortable & clean. Lovely terrasse. A small swimming pool facing the rice fields. Good breakfast. Friendly team . IT could be the right location, But the last few hundreds metres from the road to the place is difficult, quite steep and very dark. Some noises of motocycles as well during the night. In need of some refurbishment / a little re investment.

Our family booked the Two bedroom villa with a pool as well as the individual villas. Both were in fantastic condition and very comfortable. The staff provided the highest level of service. The villas are one kilometre from the main road, and easy walk or even easier motorbike ride. Set amongst stunning ricefields, the Samara provides access to the activites of the Ubud township whilst also providing Bali tranquility.

The service was excellent. The staff are very friendly and accommodating. We celebrated our daughter’s birthday and the staff organised a lovely treat of personalised balloons and a cake. We stayed in the two bedroom pool villa; the rooms are as they appear in the photos. They are immaculately clean. The location is very peaceful, yet a short scooter ride (with one of the staff) takes you right into the heart of Ubud. We have stayed at a range of villas in Bali over the years and we are planning to return again to The Samara.

Everything was great. The peaceful location minutes away from Ubud market, walkable or a quick scooter ride away (provided by the villa.) There is nothing like the views and sounds of the rice paddy fields at sunrise and dusk. Even if you are not staying here, stop by the restaurant for a meal or a drink and take in the breathtaking scenery. At the villa there were many choices for breakfast, with plenty of fresh fruits and pastries. The restaurant on site prepares Italian and Indonesian food. In the evenings I got room service and the meals were tasty and promptly served. Rooms and common area were stylish, clean, and well maintained. We felt like we were home there with the welcoming owners and staff. We liked it so much that we returned again after staying in Seminyak for two weeks. Grazie di tutto e ci torneremo in futuro!

Have stayed here several times. Amazing accommodation. Great location. Beautiful host family and staff members. Just up the hill from Ubud central, the staff offer complimentary bike service to drop you in the heart of Ubud. (also an easy 10 minute walk down the hill.) In the past three years the businesses along this hill track have developed, with quiet bars, warungs and restaurants. Not to mention juice bars and boutique coffee house. Very cheap spa is only 5 mins walk away, Juwuk Manis Spa. Massage, manicures etc. An absolute must.

To start, the area is top notch. You feel like you're in a private secluded area among the rice paddies which is very nice, but you're also only a short walk away from the bustling city in one direction, or even more nature and seclusion if you walk the other way. The staff at Samara was always smiling and so helpful. My husband and I were celebrating our honeymoon, and they had the most gorgeous welcome for us in our room when we arrived! The included breakfast each morning was delicious, and super generous! I learned after a few days that I only needed to order a few of the courses that were offered. Everything was absolutely wonderful.

The best thing I can say about this place was the very friendly staff. Rusma was the lady at the front desk and very welcoming. Service was impeccable and our room was cleaned twice a day, even though once is enough. Food was wonderful also, really enjoyed having breakfasts daily there, facing the rice terrace. The neighborhood also has nice rice terraces if you just walk about. No spa here. And we wish we didn’t have to call their scooter over every time we wanted to leave or return to the property, however we could’ve walked in the heat also, to reach the main road. I believe it could take 15mins to walk. One thing we didn’t realize was that the rice terraces were probably just picked, so they weren’t quite lush at the time.

Wow, is how I would describe my whole experience from start to finish at the hotel. I stayed in 3 parts of Bali during my visit and this hotel was the best. I dont like super busy places and this hotel is just outside of the busy part of ubud so you have peace and quiet. The accomodating staff offer a transfer to the city centre which is amazing. From beginning of my stay to the end the staff made me feel welcome and nothing seemed to be a problem for them. True hospitality. If and when I visit Bali again I will definately stay again! Thank you too all the staff for a wonderful 3 day stay.

👍 Ordinary food in a spectacular location, in the middle of rice paddy. The crispy duck is really crispy, a bit too dry. The sate lilit is delicious. The gurami goreng bit bland / tasteless.
