Very clean, relaxing and beautiful. The attention to detail at Cendana is amazing. The grounds, the pools, the rooms and the lobby are all stylish and well maintained. Our bathroom shower had no curtain or barrier which made water splash on the bathroom floor while showering. This didn't bother us as it's common in Asia and dries fairly quickly but it might be a problem for some. The staff are all very friendly and helpful- from check in to check out. We enjoyed the free breakfast being served to us on our patio every morning. They also have a full room service menu- not as tasty as what you get at the restaurants in town but very affordable and fast service when you don't feel like leaving the resort to eat. The location is perfect because its right on the main drag with all the shops, spas and restaurants right outside the resort but when you're on the resort you feel like you're in the countryside. I highly recommend Cendana if you're looking for a relaxing, luxurious stay with an authentic Balinese feel.

It's more than a three star hotel !! Located centrally in Ubud so super connectivity with local market and spas around. Away from the main Street so calm n peaceful during the day. There is a nightclub around so u hear live music till 12 mid night which may be disturbing but does not spoil your sleep. Room are super , clean and hygienic . Poster beds with white curtains give a very cosy feeling . There is a hot flask with tea /coffee sachets . But no creamer or milk . Bathrooms are huge and luxurious . Nice soft and clean towels are provided . Tooth brush and tooth paste were not provided . I didn't like the quality of soaps & shampoos . In house restaurant has an ala carte breakfast menu. Only bread toast n friut option available for vegetarians . I hope they could upgrade cereal honey n milk. Excellent hotel complex . Lovely garden with two talking birds . Two nice swimming pools. One of the swimming pools is almost an infinity pool overlooking the rice fields . Hotel has a spa as well , which I did not visit Extremely courteous , warm and kind staff . We had a room on the first floor and my mother could not climb up everytime . They immediately exchanged for a ground floor room . Special tips to Indians visiting here : Two nice Indian restaurants close by are indian bollywood to the right of the hotel (450 meters ) And Ganesha Sanskruti to the left of the hotel (650 meter) Get your toothbrush , tooth paste , preferably own soaps n shampoos , milk sachets if u like to make your room tea .

Great place to stay with beautiful gardens and grounds. Our family stayed in the deluxe rooms 309 and 310 and they were very quiet. There is a night club across the rice paddy at the back but when inside these rooms you couldn't hear anything. No need to go to the monkey forest as there are a tribe of monkeys that appear throughout the day. Very entertaining

Rooms are big and clean. The place is quite magical by itself as the hotel in inside a rice plantation. Beautiful view from the rooms. Restaurant is much too small to handle all breakfast or big groups. Nevertheless, good address to visit Ubud and its surroundings

This hotel is excellent. The location is very central. The size of the rooms are big, and they are well designed and thought out. The staff are exceptionally friendly and helpful, they were very perky and delightful on our initial arrival - at 1am! Breakfast is basic but very tasty and at only 50k is a cheap way to start the day right. I loved the pool and some monkeys even joined for a drink. Overall, if this is in your budget I see no logical reason not to stay here.

Very quiet place in the center of Ubud! With spacious room and also bathroom. Very private and fit for everyone who need quietness. The staffs so friendly. They have 2 swimming pool, one with nice rice field view. The wifi in the room not so good, but you can go to the restaurant area to find the better one. You can choose one of three style of breakfast. The room itself has mini fridge. No toothbrush for amenities. Hand held bidet for the toilet, and no hairdryer. The bathtub kinda too big so I like the shower better. The room has TV but no use at all so you can see it as part of decoration only. No room sandals, but they provide safety box.

Hotel is great, location is great, service was great, rooms are very big and beds are very comfortable and huge. Only downside is there is a club nearby and unless you are a night owl or light sleeper, you won't get much sleep till 2:30am when the music dies down.

I was apprehensive given mixed reviews but I was delighted with my stay. It’s not a five star resort but five stars for sure for the price point. First the location is incredible, right in the centre of Ubud so you can walk in different directions to almost everything you want to. Yet you can hear no traffic, and you overlook rice paddy fields! This is because it is set very far back from the road. The resort is finished with lots of nice Balinese architectural details and feels very light, airy, and spacious with immaculate gardens and two pools. One typical hotel bright blue pool, the other a large infinity pool overlooking the ricefields, which was more like swimming in the beautiful freshwater pond! Just lovely! Lots of birds coming in to take a drink and the area abounds in nature. There are three tiers of room at this resort. The older standard ones, then there are some superior ones directly opposite the old pool, And then there are the new deluxe ones which are much bigger, and have stone bathrooms. The price difference isn’t huge, so I would recommend going for the deluxe rooms. The upstairs ones do you have views over the ricefields, but the downstairs one I had still had plenty of privacy and you could look through the garden at the pool and the distance. The room itself is basic and simply finished, spacious, with good air conditioning. The food in the restaurant is good value and tasty, the free breakfast Had a little bit of variety from day today, with something for everyone. The staff are incredibly friendly and hospitable, like with Bali in general. Yes being in the middle of Bali there are bars in the area at night, and there is a night club next door that has quite loud live music some nights. The cheaper rooms are more likely to be affected by noise, however I did not need earplugs at night. Reception though did tell me that they have earplugs available if people request them. This hotel I would say is perfect for single travellers Who want to be able to easily get to everything so you don’t feel too on your own, and for families Or anybody who is new to avoid, and wants a nice central location to explore from, whilst at the same time being able to chill enjoy much of the calm and tranquility that central Bali is so famous for. All for a relatively good value price!

Where should I start with this hotel! Receptionist were lovely and greeted us with welcome drinks. Then our room was beautifully decorated as you can see from photographs below. The scenery around the entire hotel is full of plants , flowers, ponds and mini water falls. It’s honestly a beautiful hotel, I would definitely come back. We stayed in room 303! We didn’t have an issue with noise etc, but there was lounge nearby that was playing music into the early hours. Again from our room we didn’t hear anything but rooms closer to the entrance, this could get pretty annoying really quickly. Ubud has an unique charm to it, the people are super friendly and happy to help! Cendana was no different! Thank you!!!

Great location and grounds. Although the hotel sits in Ubud's busy center, it suffers little sound pollution from the heavy traffic sounds around. The heart of the activities offered whether pool, spa or other services lay further into the grounds of the complex and are surounded by a patch of rice fields on one side and little resident habitations on the other. The rooms are spacious and have good size balconies that face the pool, fields, and beautifully planted areas of the central grounds. The one somber note at Candana Resort & Spa was how our breakfast orders were handled on our daily visit at the restaurant. Clearly, the staff was instructed to offer the least amount of food as can be managed 'politely' with the guests. Here's what the daily gamble looked like. Or the daily arms wrestle as it might be better described. If a guest orders as-is the continental breakfast with its plate of fruit, toast and main dish with two eggs, a single piece of bacon, half of a small fried tomato, four apple wedges and three green beans fighting on the edge of the plate (exactly as photographed in the menu), all might be well. No revolutionary kerfuffles on the horizon so far. But here's the rub, if you ask for a glass of fruit juice, you'l 'discover' you don't receive the fruit plate any longer?!? Or if you ask for a substitute to the green beans, extra apple sauce for example, you'll be met with the substraction of two of you slices of toast?!? It's a sort of game where if you inquire upon the alteration of one aspect of the breakfast, they'll subtract another as a result. What's most troubling here, besides the play of food chekers with customers, is nobody heads these effects on to the customer 'before' the sad discovery of those missing items. Nobody tells us the rules ahead of the confrontation. We've simply to witness the changes as our dishes are served! And last but not least, besides the confusion of there being things removed from our plates insult is added to disappointment as the staff member informs you that the one thing was removed because this other thing was asked and the golden rule at Candana Resort & Spa (this one rule is verbalized for a change), is "only one food option is aloud for breakfast." Making customers feel slighted over a slice of toast isn't good business practice, in my opinion.

50m down a lane right in the centre of bustling Monkey Forest Road this family owned resort set in tropical gardens on the edge of the ricefield is a tranquil paradise. Rooms are spacious and very clean as are the resort's two large pools. Thanks to Made and his team for looking after everything so well for us.

The green plants in the hotel are very rich and beautiful, but the sleeping experience is very poor. The soundproofing of the room is not good, and there is a bar next door, which makes it very noisy until late. There will be sounds of roosters and birds at five o'clock in the morning. Not a good place to rest for a few days here.

I have been staying here 4 times, just prior to the pandemic and during the pandemic. The rooms located in the back, opposite the infinity pool were reasonably big, nicely appointed, with TV and small fridge. The terrace is huge and you can sit there and enjoy the paddy fields. All rooms were part of a traditional bungalow with traditional Balinese architecture. The hotel has 2 pools. What I really like was, it was located on Ubud 's busy main street near restaurants and cafes, close enough to the palace and still walkable to the Campuhan forested area. But because it is set back from the hustle and bustle of the street, you still enjoy the serenity of the huge garden. There are fish ponds everywhere some with small bridges over them, Balinese traditional praying stations, overall a beautifully artistically groomed garden. A few times a day, the girls placed offering baskets on the traditional praying places. I was lucky I could speak to the guys who cut the paddy while swimming in the infinity pool at the same time. The owner lived on the premises and I enjoyed very much the conversation I had with the family. Cendana lost a lot of business due to the pandemic and more so to the ruthless manners of the very loud CP Lounge, who did not respect the quiet hours so typical for Ubud. I hope a serious newspaper like CNBC will cover this situation. It is nearly impossible to renovate those rooms next to the lounge though they are nice.

We have stayed at the Cendana a few times now and would not go anywhere else in Ubud. The rooms are fantastic with a very comfortable bed. The staff are always eager to help and very friendly. Location is perfect and a short walk to many great warungs. The gardens are immaculate and the pool is a great place to relax. Look forward to seeing you again next year. Thanks for a great stay as always.

For the price and location, I couldn’t be happier with this hotel. A beautiful property with rustic charm. Booked the deluxe room and I’m pleased with its size and cleanliness. My child loves this hotel too, and all the fish and animals that we can see nearby. I would definitely stay here again in Ubud. It’s a gem!!

We loved our experience at Cendana. The Location gives the place a big advantage. It is just a few meters away from the Ubud city street buzzling area. The bathrooms are SO spacious and clean. Staff is very friendly and the service is quick and very professional. There is a great view of the paddy fields which give this place a sense of calmness. I would highly recommend this place to anyone visiting Ubud!

We had a wonderful stay at Cendana. We really enjoyed the central location and surroundings with monkeys and rice terraces. Super friendly staff. We felt so welcome.

I loved my stay at Cendana. It’s a very traditional hotel right in the middle of Ubud. The hotel is set back from the street so is still quiet and peaceful while being able to walk everywhere. The rooms are big and spacious but a little old, although everything works well. Also as this is a more traditional style of accomodation it means that some bugs and ants do make their way into your room. This didn’t bother me but if it would worry you then this may not be the hotel for you. Beautiful pool and lovely staff.

First time in Bali. Stayed 4 nights. Air con wasn't overly cooling, a fan would help with the cooling. We had upstairs with balcony so had a lovely view of the rice fields. Staff were very attentive, nothing was a problem. Had room service twice for Bintang and to pick up clothes for laundry. Had an absolutely amazing balanese massage at the spa, and beautiful cucumber and honey facial for an hour then had my hair washed. Floated out of the spa feeling so rejuvenated. The restaurant was very basic, ate out most nights. We were down the back of the property, spoke with others who were at the front who said music from local restaurant was loud at night, but didn't mind much. The highlight was a monkey coming onto the balcony and stole my partner's lighter.

The hotel it was super nice, is close to everything in the middle of ubud but very quite with a lot of green.... You feel like in a small paradise! The rooms are a little bit old, in balinese style, anyway clean! The receptionist are very nice! So definitely a very good place to stay!

Supernice hotel in the center of Ubud. The location is great. The atmosphere is really calm and peaceful. Staff is friendly and helpful. Amazing views to rice fields. Delicious breakfast with a lot of options, fruit, toasts, omelet, pancakes... The rooms are spacious and clean and the bed is great. Only the bathroom is a bit old.

This is the 3rd times I stayed at this resort. Love the view from the second floor balcony, very nice and peaceful environment, and most importantly, everything is only walking distance.

Had a superior room for 1st night. There were problems with mould. Moved out next day to a deluxe room which was perfect. The staff were very nice and accommodating I would come back and stay in the deluxe room. The superior rooms are in need of upgrading.

Really nice hotel. Great location in the middel of Ubud, but the hotel looks like it is in a really peacefull place. Some noise from the club next door, but become less noisy after 23.00. Then again, you have a nice place with live music next door!

  • 5/5 Arun M. 1 year ago on Google
Cendana resort and Spa is located centrally and yet once you are in you are away from the crowd... Value for money, big rooms and bigger bathrooms with perfect view of the rice fields... They have spa and two pools, was not able to use the spa though... Highly recommended if you are looking for stay...

Make sure you get the nicer units in the back, the ones up front are a bit dated and are the ones that have the bathroom odor others have commented about. Overall still a solid value, great staff, two nice pools, good breakfast and restaurant onsite.

An old fashioned hotel but nice and comfortable to stay in. We got huge room with huge bathroom with a really nice balcony. The hotel has a very amazing view, the ricefields surrounding us with 2 clean and nice swimming pools inside the hotel area.It also has a very nice well maintained garden. The staffs were all very helpful and nice. The very best aspects from this hotel was the location, in the Ubud city center and mostly walkable to many places such as minimarts/restos/coffeeshops and Ubud market & Ubud palace. We really love our stay in this hotel.

The staff is very friendly, helped me whenever I had a problem and were nice all the time. The room itself is very nice too, a bit outdated (bad water pressure) but comfortable and large with balcony. The cleaning is not the best. Don’t stay in superior noise unless you are partying / going out till late since the music from the club next door goes until very late (past 2 every night).

  • 5/5 Astri P. 1 year ago on Google
The room is nice. Only the hot water is limited. There are 2 pools which both are very nice. It is located beside rice fields and in the center of ubud (monkey forest). Will definitely stay here if I visit Ubud next time.

  • 4/5 Michael B. 1 year ago on Google
Love the location!! Very strategic and very near to Ubud center. The one thing I'm not enjoying much is the loud music from a night club nearby. The room has an old, rustic feeling which intially I didn't like but I grew up liking. Still, a couple of modern improvement like probably new painted walls would feel nice.

We really enjoyed our stay here. Staff went above and beyond to make our stay special for my birthday celebrations. Our room was lovely, clean and large. The bathroom was also very big for a separate shower and bathtub. The pool area was well kept and out facing the rice terraces. Gorgeous hotel with a very reasonable price

We love this place. It's our new home in Ubud. The few rooms upstairs in the front do catch the club noise, so stay there if you're up late anyway kind of people. If you're not, the rooms down by the pool are magical. The staff is top notch. They were eager to help at every turn. Nyoman and all of the staff were really sweet.

The grounds of this place are great! You feel like your living in the middle of a rice patties! It has 2 pools great breakfast. The rooms are peaceful and private, traditional style, they do look like they've had better days they are a bit worn especially the bathroom which is huge but could use some maintenance
