This was a lovely hotel run by a nice family! We had an amazing view from our room (I suggest room #1), which was on the top floor with its own terrace. The staff were friendly and the breakfast was yummy. The pool was not super big but it was very refreshing. The hotel is in the heart of a street market, which was kind of fun but a bit troublesome coming in and out on your scooter. It is close to the activity in Ubud, so really, you could just walk. They have a puppy there right now who is super sweet too and makes for a nice greeting. This was my favourite hotel in Bali (stayed in 6 different places).

We stayed here in April 2023 at the beginning of our 6 month Asian adventure. 2 months have passed and this hotel still gives us reoccurring nightmares. Iā€™ll start with the very few positives: 1. Great location in central Ubud, near the markets which are bustling during the day but are dead silent at night. 2. The outside area is very beautiful and authentic. 3. We had hot water and decent shower pressure. 4. Cheap, we paid Ā£14 a night for bed & breakfast (we didnā€™t try the breakfast as we wanted to vacate our room as early as possible) Cons: 1. Toilet doesnā€™t flush properly - we avoided using the toilet at Sanias house as it was a foul experience and instead resorted to using local cafes/restaurants 2. Hand soap and toilet paper are not provided. I would expect this as a minimum. 3. The shower drainage is very slow, within minutes of showering the room is flooded (bring your snorkel) 4. The bathroom smells of sewage 5. Overhead fan doesnā€™t do much to cool the room down - there is no A/C 6. Rooms are basic, but they are very dirty and lightbulbs donā€™t work (a useful tactic by the proprietor of Sanias house so we could remain unaware of the full extent of the filth and squalor we rotted in) 7. The neighbour has a rooster which wakes up at 4am daily (as a result my chicken intake rose dramatically during my stay) 8. Noise from other guest rooms carries - bring ear plugs. 9. Wifi is very slow/mostly doesnā€™t work. 10. Bed is noisy, very uncomfortable and the room/sheets were not cleaned during our stay. 11. We were woken to the sound of hedge trimming before 7am on the Saturday morning which woke us up, despite earplugs we couldnā€™t block this noise out. In conclusion - if hygiene, comfort and relaxation are low on your list of priorities. Then your dream trip to Bali should start right here. Just make sure to ask for room 8!

Was listed as a three star but really a two star. Brilliant location. True Balinese ambiance but a bit tired and unloved. Pool dirty, the most uncomfortable bed i have slept in, not so clean, some lights not working in the room, no hot water most days and staff not that friendly. With the right management this could be a awesome. You get the feeling that the owner has lost interest in running his business. The property is visually stunning and shops and eating places are right out the front door. One day this might be a hidden gem in Ubud .....but not at the moment.

Couldnā€™t be happier with our stay for the price we paid. The location is very convenient, staff extremely friendly and the decor is magical. Our breakfast every morning was fresh and generous; fruits, a banana pancake, and tea/coffee. The staff are extremely helpful and the pool was clean. They also offer a cheap laundry service. I came back to Ubud and was looking for quality budget accomodation, I would happily stay here again.

Overall was a very bad experience staying here. Pros: 1) Can experience rustic traditional Balinese house stay 2) Located in the main Ubud Street Market, so just step out and you are in the shopping street Cons: 1) There is almost no security. The main door was not locked, even in late night and no guard/receptionist at night 2) There is no lift, so we have to climb stairs to all floors and the bungalows are having 2-3 floors 3) There are almost no helper boys to help take luggage to room, so we need to climb the stairs with our luggage and the staircase doesn't have support handles. 4) Reception and rooms don't have telecom phones. So we need to go to reception if anything needed. 5) No inhouse dining available, so no option to order paid food from within hotel if needed 6) Street becomes dark and empty after 7:30pm, so it's totally dark and street has dogs at night 7) Cabs can't reach the hotel due to small street so we need to take luggage atleast 100-150mettes from Ubud main road to this place and then again carry luggage ourselves 8) Our room did not have a good flush and no jet or Sanitized tissue paper. So we had to get a bucket for bathroom 9) AC in our room was weak, it was just working and ventilating. It was not cooling.

Absolutely Terrible. The grounds are architecturally very pretty but unloved and dirty. No service from the staff to speak of. There is no security and the main door is open to the street at all hours. It is located right in the middle of a market, which means going to and from the property is tiresome as you are constantly harassed by stall vendors. The room was very basic, and barely scraped one star. Cracked glass in the windows and the air con didnā€™t work properly. Being basic, there is no Wi-Fi or phone down to reception Our room was absolutely filthy and the bathroom looked like it hadnā€™t been cleaned in weeks. It was a disgrace. The toilet and shower were stained and the towels - presumably they were once white - were grey and frayed. Donā€™t expect a new toilet roll or a bin anywhere in the room either. The hot water was unreliable and on the occasion it did heat up slightly it stopped again. The electricity also cut out completely. The bed was also dirty, and had what seemed to be sand in it, which was odd. The sheets were old and covered in stains, with some appearing to be blood. Advisable to sleep on top of the sheets rather than under them. The bed was pretty uncomfortable but that seems to be quite common in Bali, and there was a lot of noise from neighbouring properties. Donā€™t expect a decent nightā€™s sleep. If the venue had staff that cared and actually did some proper cleaning and basic hotel maintenance then it could be very nice. At it is though, this is very much one to avoid at all costs.

If you ever plan on staying in Ubud, I'd advise you to never pick this stay. Firstly, its quite a walk from the main road as this is located on an extremely narrow street corner. Secondly, the rooms are an absolutely disgrace..the latches on the bathroom door don't work, its very ill equipped, the rooms smell odd, the charging points are at very inconvenient spots, the ceiling fan might as well not be there. Thirdly, WiFi signal is the absolute worst. Highly recommend cancelling any bookings you have already made herešŸ¤·

Where do i start??? I will have nightmares about my stay here for a very long time!! Rooms are filthy! Bathroom wasn't cleaned prior to us coming and the bedsheets that are supposed to be white are almost grey! We had no room service to make the beds each day (this wasn't an issue) however we received no towels or toilet roll throughout our whole stay! Had to go down and keep asking for towels at reception. There's a rooster right beside our room that literally makes noise all night, hardly got any sleep! Beds are uncomfortable! The grounds are gorgeous however I wish they put as much effort into cleaning the rooms as they do cleaning the gardens! Location is right beside street markets, that's the only plus!

Beautiful scenery and gorgeous, classic, and mysterious design. I stayed at the top of this hotel. It looks like i wan in a cinema scene in the rainy early morning. Breakfast was awesome. It is located just in the Ubud market in the center. By walking from hotel, we can see around Ubud anywhere.

Itā€™s cheap, but the sheets had stain, and they donā€™t offer water, you need to pay for 10k. And in the early morning around 8am, they start to disinfect outside, it was so freaking loud! And it stink after that. They shouldnā€™t have done it when guests are still in bed. Thereā€™s no AC in the room, everything is damp and a bit smelly. The pool looks good, other than that, everythingā€™s just not good, better not stay here.

Promising start, it certainly has an interesting layout and the location within the local markets was really cool. Unfortunately the power to our room and those in the same block was inconsistent and left us unable to see anything as it got dark, unable to charge our phones and therefore unable to leave the hotel safely, worst of all it meant we could not utilise the only form of AC, leading the room to be uncomfortably hot all night. If you are lucky enough to not have the power cut out on you it would be a pretty decent stay for the price.

Itā€™s very well located, in the city centre in the middle of the market. You cannot come by car/transport straight to the main entrance but itā€™s not far from the next possible parking spot. The pool is small but definitely worth having a swim and itā€™s open until quite late. Breakfast is included, not big but enough to start the morning with some food, they bring it to your room.

A very good choice if you want to stay at the center of Ubud. It's inside the art market, so you must walk to reach it (but not too far away). The location is very strategic. The architecture and the interior is very Balinese. They have a massage service. It's not like a resort that usually has a wide green yard, but it has a small nice pool. If you get a room at the second or third floor, they only have a narrow stairs. Personally I like the upper room better because it felt more private. Every room has its own terrace to relax.

This place is hugely popular. I'm surprised it didn't already have reviews. I mean, it is it's own tourist attraction - like, people stop by to see the architecture here. The only issue I had, was the room we stayed in, a lower 'subterranean' room, next to the pool, smelled really musky and always felt humid - nothing ever dried out. Very nice staff though!

Very nice and beautiful hotel to stay in, location is perfect! Staff is super friendly, helps you with motorbike rental, boat tickets/transfer to other islands and such, they serve breakfast of your choosing and at the time you like on your balcony. One tip; if you're a light sleeper, bring earplugs and a sleeping mask. The curtains are very thin so when the sun's up, it'll be bright right away. And the earplugs for the birds and rooster that start 'singing' loudly around 5am. Water in the pool has a nice temperature

Beautiful buildings and interior courtyard with a fantastic location in Ubud. However, the wifi was very bad and cellular didnā€™t reach inside. There is also no AC so it is hot and some bugs get inside the room. Lovely staff and great price.

Donā€™t listen to the reviews of the people complaining about this place, the rooms are very quaint and comfortable, the grounds are lovely, the pool is very nice. The wifi is a little bad (we stayed in the highest room in the very back corner) and the sheets and towels arenā€™t 5 star quality, but if those arenā€™t priorities or prerequisites for your holiday, for the price and the very central location within Ubud, this place cannot be matched ā¤ļø

This has to be the best place for money in ubud. It's incredible for its Balinese carving architecture- there is so much detail in everything - the doors, temples, ceilings - it feels like real Bali. I've stayed here a few times now and every time I've felt very at home. The pool is beautiful, the room interior is basic but clean - the outdoor terrace areas are green and private. The staff are friendly and you can see glimpses into their family home. It is well worth its value with breakfast included and centered along a market street in the center of everything. I can't wait to go back!

4.7 stars. Literally the nicest hotel I've ever stayed at. So beautiful and peaceful. You have to see it to believe it. It's like being in a temple. Wonderful staff. And you get a free 15 minute massage coupon on arrival. The WiFi connection is terrible - everything takes several minutes to load, so I end up using my local 4G. There are not enough wall sockets in the rooms (ONE socket in the entire room and one outside the room). Not all the rooms have aircon - we had to move rooms twice because of this, but it wasn't too much of an inconvenience because we don't have a lot of stuff. If you are really sensitive about insects in your room - the windows and doors don't seal properly in this place, so just bare that in mind. Breakfast included - pretty good but not enough for us so we always went out afterwards to grab some more food. Another positive is that it's right in the centre of the market, which we loved.

This is the only place I will stay in Ubud. The staff is friendly and helpful, they feel like family. Upon entering you will be amazed at the beauty. It is located in the heart of Ubud market convenient for all of your needs within walking distance and if you do not drive motorbike the staff will gladly arrange transportation. The food is delicious, there is a variety of rooms to choose from, and a beautiful pool to enjoy. It is a peaceful Sanctuary that will make you feel at home whether you are here for business, or pleasure, you will find that everything this home stay offers will make you very happy. There are also options to get a massage here which is very nice. I wish I could give this place 10 Stars!

We just stayed there for almost a week in the superior room. Big enough for 2 or 3 persons. Ideally placed in the middle of Ubud, we had a nice greeting and the staff was really helpful and kind. The pool is nice when sunny or to refresh after a long day spent visiting around the island. Breakfast can be served at your room directly, which is quite enjoyable, with a nice plate of fruits and another plate of your choice (+tea or coffee). Loved it. Definitely recommend it!

Friendly staff. Very central location. Once you are in at Sanias House you wouldn't even know there is a market right outside the door step. Very quiet and chill vibe. Pool is lovely and clean. Overall an amazing experience.

The sheets and towels are all dirty with yellow spots, they were changed but same problem. Rooms arenā€™t to great but wasnā€™t expecting more for the price. Location is good, but you will be woken up everyday starting at 4 am with multiple roosters from the neighbour as well as the neighbours kids

Worst hotel experience. Great location, completely ruined. V v basic hotel... V bad layout of the entire property, extremely congested bad design. Rooms are extremely unmaintained. There might be free rooms that are good, but it's not clear on the website. V few staff ... No phone in the room you have to go to the reception for request.... Overall not good... There were great places around with a little more budget.

Great location central to all activities around Ubud however the street is quite narrow so organising pick up can be hard if you donā€™t have internet on your phone. The buildings were beautiful and traditional however the room itself was what you would expect for the price. Staff were lovely and helpful. Included breakfast was fine. Yucky smell coming from the bathroom and shower wasnā€™t draining properly.

Simply ideal. Perfect location. Beauty anywhere you look. Feels and looks like being in Bali temple. The family is so nice and acomodating. Each room is differant and most have carved doors and four poster beds. Breakfest is great as well. I have been coming to Bali for 25 years now and this is the place I always end up staying in. Simply the perfect combination. Pool is so amazing as well. Love you all and thank you so much for a perfect stay.

Fantastic feeling, like living in a temple. Ancient buildings, wooden doors, beautiful details. Friendly staff, delicious breakfast included (eggs/pancake with fruit salad and coffee). Had some minor problems with toilet (leaking), and only 1 electric socket inside the room (the second is on the balcony, which is inconvenient), but itā€™s not a big problem.
