We had high hopes after such good reviews, but were let down massively. We arrived before check in (not anything to do with this review), and then returned 2 hours after check in time. This is just to say they knew we were in town and ready to check in. The staff also seemed like they were stoned. They had no bedding on the beds, and no towels. When we enquired, we were told ‘2 more hours’. We asked to have towels at least so we could use the pool, and luckily 20 minutes later some towels arrived. However, 3 hours later, we’re about to leave for dinner and bedding still hadn’t arrived. When we went to ask about it, they acted oblivious and walked off. I followed, to check they were (hopefully) getting bedding and got yelled at by the man. We felt quite threatened by the staff. At this point we left. Booked elsewhere and demanded a refund (yet to know if we’ll get it). Edited to say we did get the refund from the site we booked through, and they expressed we were not the only ones with issues.

Where do I start… Arrived for check in and our rooms weren’t ready. We were met by a young guy who was clearly stoned and didn’t ask for ID or our passports or anything. We were understanding (as we are expats who live in Bangkok so understand these things happen) and left to head into town. We then arrived back at 4pm and our rooms were ready but we had no pillow cases, mouldy pillows and no towels therefore we couldn’t get into the pool or shower. They weren’t apologetic they just laughed and said they were still in the laundry but said in 2 hours they’d come. We then asked again at 7pm as still hasn’t got them and they just laughed saying still in laundry. They then made us walk down to the laundry room to ask the person working there who said another 30mins at this point we took our bags and left. If they’d have been apologetic and sorted it out but when we went to find them at 7pm they were stoned and just laughed. Do not stay here!

A shame that the good reviews we read were completely different from our experience. We arrived slightly earlier than check-in time and agreed to leave our bags and return later. Upon our return at 3:30, our room was declared “ready”, but we did not have any towels or sheets. We were given towels at 4:30 and told sheets would be there by 6pm. At 7:15 when we asked after the sheets, we were told they were still not ready. The staff then said we could go ask the laundry ourselves about the sheets. This was the final straw and we made the choice to repack our bags and leave. Throughout our whole experience at Gora House, the staff showed no remorse about the situation or drive to correct it. When there are so many other places to stay in Bali, save yourself the hassle and book elsewhere.

Located in small pathway beside convenience store. Served excellent breakfast for guest house. The room are clean and tidy with big shower room. Gora house do not have parking lot, for those who come with car/motorcycle better have coordination with Gora House beforehand

Such a great location and the staff are super nice and helpful. My driver from the airport (Putu) was very nice and we had some fun with music on the way. This little place has 6 rooms and is tucked in behind a busy area in central Ubud. It's quiet there and the pool is perfect for relaxing. They make breakfast and do coffee which is a great way to start the day. They do laundry with a very good price and they can help with anything. (Suga) was one of the nicest staff. Helped me with anything I needed. Thankyou everyone.

Got to be an easy 5*. Very cheap, good clean rooms with good hot water showers. Pool is a bit small. Tip: if you want a good view ask for a room at the top, if not request a room on the ground floor next to the pool.

This place is beautiful and peaceful. We would stay here again next time in Ubud. Staff was great. Definitely recommend their tours because it is a private driver and the cost is per vehicle (1-4 people) and not per person. All day excursion for two of us was $ 55 and not $70-100 per person. Awesome place. Walking distance to Monkey Forest.

The room is definitely older then pictured but still very nice and does it's job. The location is right in the center of everything, and it's all so easy to walk to! At first, getting there seemed a bit sketchy, but it's totally safe and the service is great. Everyone is super nice and friendly and the hotel was one of my favorites in Bali. Would definitely stay here again.

The location is perfect. Facing the rice field and only 100m from the main road. Staff speak English well and very helpful. The guest house isn't too crowded and has royal blue swimming pool. What can be wrong? Recommend!

The room was excellent. However we need to walk about 5minutes to reach hotel because the hotel is not accessible by car. No lifts(elevators). You will have hard time if you have heavy luggages. The staffs were friendly but wont be at the counter most of the time.

We had a great stay here. The villa was private and clean although slightly dated. This didn’t take away from anything. I would still highly recommend this for your stay in Ubud. The complex is down an alleyway so be prepared for a walk down paths that are not always suitcase friendly. This just adds to the charm though. You feel like you are away from everything but you are only a couple minutes from one of the main streets in Ubud

Nice quiet location. Very bright lights on outside the room all night kept me awake. Apart from that it was very comfortable.

Hotel well located in Ubud, very quiet and convenient for tourist attractions. The room was neutral, old but not dirty. The pool was clean. Staff were discrete (reception is outside in a corner of the street). The only negative points were the wifi, which didn't work very well, and the fact that you can't get to the hotel by car - you're dropped off at the end of the street. This was not mentioned and we had a lot of stuff to carry (which was not convenient). But otherwise good value for money

The ⭐⭐⭐ stars are for the swimmingpool/staff situation. Hotel/rooms are fine. Great place, good location🌴 and quiet surroundings. Easy walkable to mainstreet Ubud. Plenty of good bars🍹/restaurants🍴 nearby. Room was spacious, clean and neat. View on the third floor amazing. Scenery over rice fields🤩. Swimmingpool💦 looks good but I've never took a swim. Because there was always 6 male staff sitting in the restaurant/kitchen. Unfortunately I felt very uncomfortable to take a swim if there were looking like at me not even enjoying the sun in the beautiful garden😐. Breakfast was oke, nothing special. 🤙🏼🙏🏼

Good location. But personnel not especially. Took my towels and didn't bring new ones. When I asked they brought me after 10 minutes swimmingpool ones... Also tried to charge me 3% more for payment for additional taxes...

Peaceful, beautiful villa. The staff are great. We had the pleasure of dealing with Sugeng, he is the bald one. Very friendly and hard working and accommodating of our needs. Looking forward to our next stay.
