Sort of disappointed with this hotel. Lots of abandoned buildings on property. Was no gym or fitness. Pool had lots of children. We stayed 2 nights and left early. Pool swim up bar had a sign for happy hour on display and when we went to order we weren’t allowed as we missed by 4mins. The sign shouldn’t have been up for BOGO drinks in my opinion. The bed was extremely uncomfortable as well. Better off on the roof terrace for a comfortable bed. Outdoor shower and tub were nice had it not been for the drone spying on us…. Mold problem and mildew. Caused severe allergy. Just was not a 5 star experience we were hoping for. Pro: Morning yoga Breakfast

Beautiful but extremely dated. You can tell this resort used to be one of the pioneer villa type hotels. The pricing clearly reflects that as well. When you compare to other villas around the area, you are basically paying a premium for the average benchmark. Service is great. (As per the norm in bali). Food is good. Hotel activities are pricey such as dinner on boat etc. location, it’s tucked in the outer bits of ubud. Very difficult to get transport so you have to rely on the shuttle buses. Overall, I would give it 2 stars because, I was on the ground floor, and because the villa is dated, I could hear people walking and stomping throughout the whole stay. Way too pricey for this quality. Location wasn’t great. For this price, you’d expect a lot more in Bali.

Kamandalu is a brilliant property, its very clean and tidy, the staff is very warm and my room was really spacious and beautiful, we had taken the pool villa and there was completely privacy and the surrounding was completely natural. Its a perfect place for a couple to unwind. Couple things to keep in mind, Indian food wont be ready, you will have to tell the staff a day prior what you want to eat and breakfast is very western so if you are vegetarian your options will be limited and you will have to tell the staff what you want to eat before hand. Their dinner vegetarian menu is good and there are lot of options but no indian food in the menu. Overall experience was really pleasant. A highly recommended place.

We came here for the river picnic and we were not disappointed. The experience was so magical, the food was fabulous and the man who rowed our boat was wonderful. It was such a lovely surprise to find out that we were able to feed the fish which was so special. Thank you for a lovely time!

Me and my Wife had an excellent stay at Kamandalu Ubud! The staff were all so very welcoming and friendly and made our stay very very enjoyable and funny! The staff were so helpful to our questions and also provided us with tips and places to visit. The hotel itself is so beautiful and relaxing and worth every penny! (The room service is also one to remember as well as the food is so delicious!) I would highly recommend this place to everyone!

Probably one of the best hotel experience we have had. We thank the staff for making out stay a memorable experience. We were offered a room upgrade to a larger villa and some additional complementary gifts. The architecture, the quietness, the staff, the attention to little details, everything was perfect. We would love to come again and highly recommend this place.

I am extremely dissatisfied with the level of service provided during my three-night stay at Kamandalu. My partner and I had high expectations based on reviews on Google and Instagram, but unfortunately, we deeply regretted our decision once we experienced the reality of the situation. The service throughout our stay was of very poor quality. The room we were assigned had multiple issues, such as a problem with the bathroom sink drainage and a non-functional electric power socket near the bed. Additionally, despite returning from our Mount Batur hike at 2 PM, our room had not been cleaned, and we were disturbed by housekeeping at 3 PM. Feeling uncomfortable, we had to leave the room to accommodate the cleaning process. It is worth noting that between 2 AM and 2 PM, no one had visited to clean the room. This lack of attention to cleanliness and timing was highly disappointing. Furthermore, upon checking out, we discovered that there were separate areas for check-ins: one for private pool rooms and another for the rest of the rooms. This disparity made us feel that the hotel did not value all its customers equally, which was quite disheartening. To add to our disappointment, when we inquired about the breakfast service, we were informed that it would cost 5 USD. As we were in Bali, we expected the prices to be quoted in Indonesian Rupiah (IDR). It was surprising and off-putting that the hotel quoted the price in USD instead. Overall, our experience at Kamandalu fell far short of our expectations, and we found that the hotel's reputation did not match the reality of our stay.

We have been exploring Bali for 3 weeks and have stayed in different hotels but Kamandalu defenitely was THE BEST place we stayed at during our holiday! I can’t even put into words how amazing our time there was. I can only say you need to go to discover it yourself. The location is beyond beautiful. The villa we were staying at was huge. The bathroom had 2 huge glass windows which offered you a splendid look into your own beautiful private garden with pool and jungle overlook. When we walked outside our room we could also enjoy an incredible infinity pool with jungle overlook and a pool up at the deck of the hotel. The restaurants were all BEYOND a-ma-zing. We celebrated our 1 year anniversary so had a private dinner at the lagoon the first day and a dinner in a tipi at the tipi garden the other day. We had lunch in the lagoon as well on a cute, yellow boat surrounded by 1000’s of fishies. We enjoyed a romantic flower bath with appetizers and of course had floating breakfast at our private pool. We also visited the spa where we woke up to the sounds of nature in a forest swing bed followed by a duo massage. We literally are SO grateful for the wonderful time we had. An unforgettable anniversary for sure. We already can’t wait to come back to Kamandalu. A HUGE thank you for the BEST time & anniversary we could have wished for! Xx

We booked at the Kamandalu Ubud in September 2021 for our honeymoon and prepaid our stay. Due to the Delta variant of Covid-19, Indonesia wasn’t allowing visitors of the USA to enter the country. In January 2022 we contacted the reservation desk to see if a refund would be possible and they wanted us to postpone our honeymoon 9 months from April to December 2022, we politely declined and requested the refund and did not hear back from the hotel until April 2022 after we disputed the charge on our card. I understand that hotels include non cancellation policies, but refusing to refund after leaving us unanswered for 3 months when it’s not physically possible to visit the resort is not good hospitality.

We stayed at Kamandalu for 4 nights in May 2022 during our elopement in Bali. I've travelled to over 40 countries and it was the nicest resort I've ever stayed at- I couldn't fault it. The service is absolutely amazing and everyone was so lovely. The gardens are extremely established, extensive, manicured and gorgeous. The buildings were upkept beautifully (which is not the norm in Bali hotels). Our valley view villa was paradise on earth with a gorgeous bed, bathroom, outdoor shower/pool filled with rose petals, private pool and view over the jungle. It was super private, quiet and peaceful. The pools, sitting areas and swim up bar were stunning. We had a great massage and pedicure at the spa- not cheap but very up market and professional. The breakfast was great- especially when ordered to our room to eat looking over the jungle. The room service and restaurant were decent- nothing too crazy though. We got some gorgeous wedding photos having the picnic lunch on the boat. We did need to pay extra to have photos at the hotel but it was worth it. 10/10 recommend :)

We had an incredible stay at Kamandalu Ubud! The location is excellent, the villas were large, clean, very comfortable with all amenities provided. The food is delicious and they put together the most beautiful dinner for us including all the candles, fairy lights, and flowers. The staff were all wonderful and so helpful. Definitely worth a stay if you’re in Ubud!

Amazing hotel right off Ubuds center, with 2 beautiful pool areas, a river, a pool restaurant and many spots for romantic dinners. Food, no matter if breakfast, lunch, pool snack, drinks or dinner, was always delicious. Our highlight was the floating breakfast as well as the forest dining or lagoon dining. Such a special experience. I also want to give a big compliment to the staff- they were so friendly, helpful, and going all out and always had everything under control. Really 5 star service. We would love to come back, just cause everybody was so nice!

The only place to stay in Bali! 😍 from the moment you get there the staff is so friendly and welcoming. They are always happy to help ensure you have an amazing experience. On top of the amazing staff, this resort offers soooo many things from Air Port rides, special dinners and even currency exchange! This place kept impressing me and I wanted to extend my stay just to enjoy this resort even longer. I highly recommend this resort 10/10

Great stay in this resort hotel with full facilities, beautiful architecture in green & colorful flowers although the food is a bit unsatisfactory, maybe due to different tastes! This is one of the places in Bali that I will recommend to my friends if they look for a hotel in Ubud.

Booked a floating breakfast and the presentation was lovely however there was around 50 wasps swarming around our food we could not eat any of it. The staff saw the wasps and stated they needed pest control involved and only offered us 10% discount. All we managed to eat was the omelette as the wasps touched everything else! Very disappointed.

This hotel is not worthy of being a 5 star hotel period. To anyone reading this, please go elsewhere. Ive been to Bali multiple times, my stay here was absolutely the worst of all.

Wouldnt ever come here again. Food was awful and unsanitary, rooms are good but overall hotel management is unacceptable. Was placed in a room next to two rooms under construction until 10pm. For same price, so many better options. Video captures how loud it was.

Please please please do not trust any other reviews… Me and my partner were there for an hour before we checked out. First of all, I think the biggest thing is the misadvertisement / misselling of this place. The two pools that are heavily advertised on their social media and booking sites are only available for those staying in the two 3 room villas. It’s advertised as a 5 star hotel, yet it’s very run down, the air conditioning didn’t cool the room and there is no fitness centre. We booked a valley view room and it is clear that some valley villas have much better views and pools than others. The staff were great and gave us a (partial) refund at our request but we definitely won’t be returning. Overall heavily disappointing, the promo and pictures make the place look way more appealing than it actually is. At its current price, we feel it’s overpriced.

My husband and I went to celebrate our honeymoon. Everything, absolutely everything was amazing (food, room design, cleanliness of the rooms, architecture of the hotel). But what makes it more special are its employees. I want to thank Yumi (the receptionist that attended us), Yogi (our driver from the airport), Budi (other driver that took us to the center) and everybody that work in the restaurant. They made our honeymoon more special. Thanks to all the employees for everything.

Maybe the best hotel you can get around Ubud. Beautiful landscape, beautiful pool area, amazing hotel. Very friendly staff, very professional and high class. Even if you are not a resident and only buy a daypass for the pool area, the treatment by the personal is outstanding! The food is really good, the drinks are perfect. Next time in Ubud we will stay here the whole time.

I am not sure I have the words to express how great our stay at Kamandalu was. My sister in law got married in Bali and held the reception at Kamandalu, so the whole family stayed on property for the week. One of the reasons she chose Kamandalu in the first place was because I have Celiac disease and the resort had great celiac/gluten free/allergy reviews. And let me tell you, they lived up to those great reviews! I was able to speak with the chef when we arrived and confirm that they would be able to safely feed me. I had breakfast every morning and a handful of dinners on property. The staff, from the kitchen to the servers, all went above and beyond- remembering my name, letting me know when my food would take longer, adjusting menus so that my meals weren’t repetitive, making my own food from the back for breakfast rather than risking cross contact from the buffet, etc. Everything from the gf pancakes, steamed rice bread, poached eggs, spring rolls, traditional Balinese and Indonesian food, to the grilled steak and vegetables was delicious! Beyond the food, Kamandalu was just such a treat to stay at. The resort is GORGEOUS- we loved the pool with swim up bar, incredible morning yoga, fantastic massages at the spa (I believe I had Daisy at the Chaya Spa- one of the best massages I’ve ever had), beautiful landscaping, well-tended chalet, and incredibly sweet staff. Bali is quite a trek from the US, but we WILL be back to stay at this resort again someday. It made a mark on us!

Kamandalu Ubud is a slice of heaven nestled in the heart of Bali. My recent stay here was absolutely magical. From the moment I stepped foot in this enchanting resort, I was captivated by its natural beauty. The lush gardens, pristine river, and serene ambiance create an atmosphere of pure relaxation. The villas are a perfect blend of traditional Balinese architecture and modern comfort. Mine felt like a private oasis, complete with a charming outdoor shower and a private pool overlooking the jungle. It was a true sanctuary. The dining experiences at Kamandalu were a culinary journey through the flavors of Bali. I was delighted by the delicious local dishes and the attentive service. Dining by the river added an extra touch of magic to each meal. The spa was an absolute highlight. The traditional Balinese treatments were both invigorating and soothing, and the skilled therapists ensured I left feeling utterly rejuvenated. What also impressed me was Kamandalu's commitment to sustainability and preserving the environment. It's evident that they take their responsibility to the beautiful surroundings seriously. In summary, Kamandalu Ubud is a paradise on Earth. It's the perfect destination for those seeking tranquility, luxury, and a deep connection with nature. My stay was nothing short of unforgettable, and I can't wait to return to this piece of Balinese paradise.

A wonderful and tranquil resort, wonderful staff with amazing villas. Built to mirror a balinese traditional village hut. Great staff great food and close to local town centre. If you get a villa the only problem is if you go with a baby buggy there's a few steps outside the villa and to get up to main lobby you will have to carry up the stairs as there's no lifts which can become a good work out however it's still amazing.

World class Hotel. World class restaurants Wayan Widastra head chef was incredible in the patulu restaurant. He made beautiful food presented wonderfully. The forest spa and serene escape was truely magical which deep in the forest. Best massage in Bali the sounds of the jungle. Floating breakfast was out of this world. And the flower bath and forest dining was the perfect night before our wedding. We had a pool villa, highly recommended. Biggest bed weve ever seen. Yudi served our forest romantic evening meal and he was first class and so was the food and location. My wife cried it was so stunning Cannot recommend enough. Attentive staff throughout our stay. We cannot thank and recommend you enough. Kindest regards Kamadalu for me and you!!! Love gill and Al. August 20th 2022. Xxx .

The perfect place to stay in Bali! Rooms, entire property, private rice terrace, restaurants, veg food, spa ...everything was so good but special mention to staff! Very friendly and service is the top most criteria to choose Kamandalu! And do not forget to go around with their own drivers as they know every corner of Ubud and nobody can show Ubud better than they do! Loved Kamandalu!

Very nice 5-star hotel located NE of Ubud city center. Breakfast offering is not too extensive but their omelet & waffles were great! The overall building and rice paddy setting was amazing. The Chalet room size was big enough for a couple :)

I had my wedding here and can I say it was out of this world! The place is sooo magical, from the staff to the rooms to the scenery. I have to call out a big thank you to the lovely ayu she was beyond brilliant and she made sure my special day was perfect. Our guests all felt like they were in a dream. I will definitely return on my wedding anniversary.

Please do not book the romantic forest dinner here. I booked the dinner for a wedding anniversary. It was the worst dinner experience I have ever experienced. I do not usually write reviews, but I would not feel right if others had their special occasion ruined like mine. To start, the location of the 'romantic' deck is next to the swimming pool area. They provided one mosquito coil and the candles offered no lighting. The server provided was a trainee. They did not speak English well, but we overcame this by using a translation app. Unfortunately things got worse very quickly. It took 35 minutes for the bread and a drink to arrive. When we asked for an update on food and drinks, the server did not understand. We kindly requested to move to a location with more lighting and less bugs. They moved us to the alternate location which is the yoga studio, with 2 chairs and table. A further 40 minutes later, the appetiser arrived. Unfortunately the food was covered in bugs. We explained this to the server, so he decided to change the table cloth and spray the table with insect repellant. This took another 20 minutes. We then asked to speak to the manager and then requested to forget the appetiser and move to main course. Please keep in mind, this dinner was sold as a 6 course intimate dining experience. After further 20 mins, we asked again for the manager and asked if we could simply eat in the hotel restaurant. The server barely understood the request and then we decided to look for the manager ourselves. A further 45 minutes of walking around the hotel and being asked to walk to different locations, eventually the duty manager appeared. We asked for a refund and alternative food arrangement. His response was, "I cannot authorise any refund, I can only take your story and tell my general manager". We left the hotel and ended up having dinner in our room in our own accommodation. Safe to say, this is the worst dining experience I have experienced. Please avoid booking this. The general manager then confirmed via WhatsApp that they would refund the dinner fee I already paid. I asked to be compensated for the alternate dinner costs I had to pay for. His response was to offer us a 1 hour spa complimentary! This hotel is not 5 star. We saw many angry guests when walking to find the manager, as the staff were unable to guide them with simple instructions.

The best staying experience in Ubud. The hotel has a very good environment and very stunning view. Away from commotion. I booked a lunch and dinner, I had the best dining experience ever.

Definitely this hotel does not deserve 5 stars, the pools are small, after 5:30pm the water is cold, they only have two restaurants and not so comfortable, the floor is slippery when it rains, and if it rains there is nothing to do in the hotel, unless you pay for the room with a private pool, there are many stairs and everything is far away, the shower is horrible, little water comes out and even then more water falls on the bathroom glass than on yourself, bathroom towels are of inferior quality, the room is comfortable and spacious but I don't think a hotel deserves 5 stars just for the room, for the amount we paid for the stay in this hotel we would have found much better ones, if this is the first time you come to bali, stay in hotels on the beach, come to the mountain just for the ride, we definitely didn't like the hotel and we tried to cancel the other days to go back to our first hotel on the beach and they didn't accept it! do not book your stay based on the photos! It's quite different when you're there!

Exceptional Hotel with exceptional customer service. The staff of this pristinely kept hotel are welcoming, and each one went above and beyond to make our stay fabulous and truly memorable! The staff at the front desk, restaurants, and the spa are perhaps the best that we have encountered in any luxury hotel across the world. The hotel location in Ubud is great and the room is very roomy and comfortable. Overall, ana amazing experience!!

Nice setting and friendly staff however breakfast quality is not great and prices for food and drinks at pool bar are so high that nobody seems to stay, creating a deserted atmosphere. Have stayed in much better hotels in Bali for similar prices.

Honestly, the best hotel with close experience with employee people near to Ubud. I was there for few days but really no place can be better than kamandalu in bali and ubud. The view and great room is the heaven
