One of the oldest & best place for authentic South Indian tasty food. Located in heart of Udaipur. Hygiene is maintained. Infrastructure is little bit older. Taste, quality & quantity compromises every other lackings. Staff is also well trained. Prices are average. Parking for two wheeler is easy to find rather than car.

I have newly moved to Udaipur from southern India and have been desperately looking for some authentic restaurant for South Indian food like Dosa and Idly. This restaurant happens to be awesome 🤩 for South Indian variety of cuisine. The taste is amazing with many types of chutney. Service is very quick without much waiting and warm food. Prices are very reasonable. I would love to visit the restaurant regularly.

A good place over the years for having the famous South-Indian dishes (like Dosa, Utthapam, Idli, etc). Taste is good. Spacious and comfortable.

A restaurant which serves only South Indian and a few chats. The service is excellent. They have put in great effort to prepare authentic south Indian dishes. The best part for me was the guy serving Sambar and chutneys all the time. All in all its not as good as what you get in south India but still very good.

One of the best and oldest eatery to savour the taste of dosas. My family just love the taste of food at this place. We have been going there since I started eating south indian food 😬 This is too economical and we can enjoy unlimited chutneys and sambhar with our dosas.

The place is an old and famous one for south Indian food in Udaipur. The sambhar was great, coconut chutney needs little improvement, tomato one was good. The Dosas could be crispier. Normal dosa texture was not that great, though rawa one was better. Overall its a good place in the city to have Dosa. The waiting management on the weekends is bad, the waiting time on weekends is around an hour. People break waiting queues by hook or by crook which is highly disappointing.

#review Every Udaipurite would have once dined here or at least would have heard the name of this place. Popular for its South Indian food with a hint of North Taste to it made Purohit Cafe the go to place of Udaipur people in the 90's. Pure veg place located in Anand Plaza serves a variety of Idli, Dosa, Uttapam etc dishes with chaat items like bhelpuri, Pani puri etc. We tried - Butter Mysore Masala Dosa - Butter Masala Dosa Butter Masala Dosa was a thin crisp dosa with mashed aloo filling. We asked for the aloo filling separately and not in the dosa. The filling had a tangy flavour. The dosa was served with Sambhar and two chutney i.e. coconut chutney and one spicy chutney. Butter Mysore Masala Dosa had a little spicy flavour as compared to Masala Dosa. Over all the taste was good & hasn't changed a bit in years but the prices have increased with no change in quantity. The Price of Dosa was INR 170 & 180 respectively but accordingly there was no such high end decor but the same old seating arrangement & not even a proper washroom.

Great South Indian restaurant. Remains closed on Wednesday. The place is known to have brought the South Indian food for the first time in Udaipur. It is the oldest South Indian restaurant in Udaipur and has maintained its taste. It's known for the authentic taste in South Indian food. When there weren't many restaurants in Udaipur, Purohit Cafe was the place Udaipurites used to flock to. It's more about the emotion of people of Udaipur rather than anything else. This place still remains heavily crowded in evening. Food: 5/5 Taste, quality, quantity, aunthenticity, everything is perfect. Service: 5/5 Pretty quick. They usually take 5-10 mins to serve. Ambience: 5/5 More like a traditional dining hall of a good court. But that's as per the price this place asks for.

The food was delicious and showcased the authentic tastes of the region. However, I would like to highlight a few concerns regarding the overall experience. Firstly, the restaurant tends to be overcrowded most of the time, resulting in discomfort for diners. Despite patiently waiting in the queue, the seating arrangements were inadequate and did not provide a pleasant dining environment. On my visit, I was even seated with two strangers at the same table due to insufficient space, which was a bit inconvenient. I kindly request the management to address these issues. It would greatly enhance the dining experience if they could ensure better seating arrangements and manage the crowd more effectively.

The place offers the best South Indian food you'll find in town, period. Having lived out of udaipur and comparing the south Indian cuisine from those cities too this place outshines the rest. There's a reason a restaurant has been running successfully for more than 3 decades. Loved the food and I'd recommend everyone to come and try it out

Purohit cafe is one of the oldest restaurants serving south Indian cuisine in udaipur. In fact I first tasted south Indian dishes here only when I was little. They are serving constant taste and quality since years. Their service is also pretty fast. They serve various types of dosa, idli, vada, uttapams, coffee, dahi vada, chaat items and chhole bhature. This time we had a plate of dahi vada, fried idli and veg rava masala dosa. If you like your dosa crisp then you can ask to keep masala aside like I did. All the south Indian dishes are served with unlimited sambhar, nariyal chutney, green chutney and tomato chutney that I love the most. Here fried idli doesn't mean tava fried idli pieces along with masalas and veggies. They deep fry idli pieces until they are crispy from outside. If you like south Indian dishes then do give purohit cafe a try, they do not operate on fridays so keep that in mind while planning your lunch or dinner here. It is very famous thus you won't have any trouble finding it. It is inside Anand plaza which is opposite Raajwada restaurant. Follow us on Instagram @the_foodie_lass for more such reviews and drool worthy pictures. Till then Happy Munching ❤

A pure veg restaurant that serves authentic South Indian food. The place was hygienic and the service was quick. The sambhar chutneys are served unlimited. In weekends, you may consider to book appointment or go a little early to save yourself from long waiting queues. I have been there already 3 times and I will visit again whenever I will crave for South Indian food. The owner is also very humble.

This place is my go to place since childhood and I can't deny the fact that its my all time favorite place to go for when it comes to South Indian cuisine. Highly appreciate how this Cafe has maintained its taste over the years.

Forever amazing!! A pure vegetarian restaurant with an exceptional taste in South Indian dishes maintained since 1987. Surely recommended. Sometimes they do take booking on call, but this restaurant never gets empty, hence they deny for call bookings usually. I recommend to visit beforehand if more no. of people else the turnaround time is 10-15 min(To reach Table) + 15-20 min (Food Preparation).

I had my worst food experience with them, served stale sambar. Staff is ignorant and so as the management. Don't let the fake reviews fool people.

👍👍 We went here with family. All of us, be it children or elderly were super happy with the concept of thali and food. The service was excellent, waiters were on their toes all the time. We didn't have to wait more than a few seconds to get something served. The management is super courteous, the owner...
