A beautiful and majestic place! Very well maintained. It takes around 3 to 3:30 hrs to cover it. You need to buy ticket 300rs per person before entering the palace. It's a nice place for clicking some good pictures. There is also a small museum inside showcasing beautiful paintings, silver ware, different types of clothings used by the royal family. The beautiful interior of the palace makes it more elegant.

Beautiful palace and very well maintained!!! This should be on the top of your list, when in udaipur! Guides are available and it would be worthy!! They will tell you about each and every room and places with its importance and why it was constructed the way it is! You might take 2-3 hours to see the entire palace! They have two restaurants in this! Its a good walk and climb of steps, so be prepared!!

Simply amazing. Wonderful place. Very well maintained by the Trust. Battery operated Car is there to climb up to the palace entrance. You have got Boating in the lake, about one hour.....they take you to another small Island, there you can spend some time, take pics and return back to mainland by some other boat. Altogether different experience, thoroughly enjoyed. Well maintained washrooms are also there.

The Palace is very beautiful and gorgeous in most aspects. This was my first visit to Udaipur and visiting the City Palace grounds was one of my favorite moments spent here. The history this place speaks, the walls and the very ground, the pillars which has stood the test of time for centuries truly gives you some perspective towards time and life. You can spent some time and energy exploring what's within these walls and narrow passages and corridors or spend time sitting and relaxing in the garden when the sun goes down. Worth the visit, of course. Do not miss out on the surrounding places.

Very cool palace. The main entrance is 50 rupees only and 500 for the museums. You can enjoy the gardens here. There are a few local shops inside but products are x3-4 tike than outside.

A majestic palace, but was way too crowded especially in these pandemic times. 5 stars for the palace, deducting 1 star for lack in properly handling the crowd and enforcing covid prevention norms. The views of the city and lake from the palace are great. The palace is maintained really well and it would have been a treat to just sit and take this place in but we had to move along in queues as there were way too many people. Go here in off-season in evening and just take the mesmerizing views in.

The place is great to know the culture of the kings of mewad . The palace is open for public but only sections wise. Rest the royal family uses it as residence and may be a hotel. Getting here is a bit tricky if you have your own vehicle as the lanes are very narrow with very less traffic sense amongst the locals specially the two wheelers.

Amazing day spent here. So rich in history and great architect. Please take a tour guide here for the rich cultural and history. It will take around 3-4 hours for the entire tour. Start your day as early as possible. Preferably 9:30 am so that you will get less crowd to take good pictures.

I recently visited the City Palace in Udaipur and was blown away by the beauty and history of this magnificent building. At more than 100 years old, the palace stood as a testament to the rich cultural heritage of the area. The beautiful lake that sits beside it only added to the overall enchantment. The interior of the palace was just as amazing as the exterior, with intricate details and stunning architecture at every turn. I highly recommend a visit to the City Palace to anyone interested in history, art, and culture. Five stars for the magnificent beauty and rich history of this palace!

Real palace with all information available within palace itself. Guides are available inside palace. They charge based on number of people visiting. Entry fee is quite high than City palace in Jaipur. Palace is surrounded by lake which makes it more beautiful. Must visit.

The Palace is very huge and beautifully carved out. Do visit with a guide. It takes minimum 2-3 hours if you want to completely visit the palace. You wont be able to fully admire the beauty of palace in less than 2 hours. The palace itself is a beauty. The museums are very good. Loved the entire experience.

💛 Grand Palace, Grand Views and Grand Experience 💛 City palace offers good knowledge of history, culture and architecture. Palace is so grand that to see it fully one has to cover 13000+ walking steps. Visiting tickets to food, everything here is expensive but worth every penny. It's one of a kind experience, way better than Jaipur in terms of serenity and hospitality. Must visit 👍

This is one of the best palaces I visited. Well maintained by the trust, cleanliness all over the area. It is too big in size which definitely makes you think about royalty. Must visit this palace on your udaipur trip. First go for the boating to jagmandir. Then explore the palace.

Beautiful piece of history in Udaipur. It’s well organized and takes around 2 hours to complete the whole thing. It has beautiful views of the lake. I would recommend visiting the 2 hours leading up to sunset for the best lighting.

One of the most impressive palaces that I’ve visited in India. The photos say it all!! Very well organized and preserved. Fully touristic, so avoid Indian holiday or weekends. The best thing is that the entrance is the same for whether for Indian or Tourists!!! 👍🇮🇳🕉💕

Palace is awesome, but feels lil artificial. Not original, lots of renovation is done. 2-3 hours of visit time. Guide is not needed, everywhere directions are mentioned to visit palace. Guide not needed. Awesome to click pics, Tickets to be taken from main gate.

Nice place. Clean and beautiful. The price of the tickets are little bit costly. It takes 30 rupees to enter into the park. The entry fees of the Museum is 300 rupees. If you want to go to the temple located at the center of the lake, you have to take boats. It costs 530 rupees while booking the ticket of the boat. Foods are also expensive. Otherwise it is really an excellent place.

The Palace is very beautiful and gorgeous in every aspects. This was my first trip to Udaipur and visiting the City Palace was one of my favourite moments spent here. One of the best maintained palace complexes in India. Museum is worth visit. Boating in lake pichola is something I would recommend for sure. The outside is impressive and a beautiful mixture of Rajasthani and Mughal architectural styles. Krishna Vilas is richly decorated with a collection of miniature paintings that portrays royal activities of the Maharanas. Mor Chowk or Peacock Square is a nice photo opportunity. The views from the top over Pichola Lake was awesome. Overall the city palace is beautiful. Very Rich and Enchanting history. Worth spending 3-5 hours.

Another man made marvel. It's huge, beautiful and well maintained. It shows the vast history of Rajasthan. There is a museum, lake, boating and food complex around the City Palace. Ticket prices for museum around 450 per person for adults. There are special concessions for students and elders. Boat ride tickets are around 800 per person. Make sure you have at least 2-3 hours if you want to visit museum as its very informative and big and it will take time to cover everything.

The world is filled with mind blowing man made historical sites and wonders out there. Over the thousands of years of human history, we’ve produced some pretty amazing stuff, even if, sadly, not all of it has latest until today. With many breathtaking and incredible historical sites built by ancient civilizations, literally historical places have soul..🤩

It is a very good museum and palace.very well maintained.it describes the history of mewar state form it's foundation to till date.there are many parts of the palace but most of the part is private or hotel property. But the museum is very well maintained and detailed in description. If possible please take a guide.Buy the complex ticket from gate then proceed to the entrance gate and buy museum ticket. But eventually I got bored while taking tour.

City Palace, Udaipur is a palace complex situated in the city of Udaipur in the Indian state of Rajasthan. It was built over a period of nearly 400 years, with contributions from several rulers of the Mewar dynasty. Its construction began in 1553, started by Maharana Udai Singh II of the Sisodia Rajput family as he shifted his capital from the erstwhile Chittor to the new found city of Udaipur.[1] The palace is located on the east bank of Lake Pichola and has several palaces built within its complex

The palace is a little over rated... everything has a price... For PARKING it was written as 50 rs but during covid, its amended as 350 rs...so if you are looking to save unnecessary expenses, its better if u park outside and enter the palace on foot...i felt the palace parking is absolute waste of money because at the palace parking, its clearly written PARK AT YOUR OWN RISK...then 350 bucks is a waste...Government parkings are available at many locations...20 rs for three hours...search for govt parking, park the vehicle and take an auto...roads around palace are very narrow and vehicles get stuck in long traffic jams... RATE LIST for palace entry...its written 30 rs for entry then museum, boat rides, crystal palace and everything u can think of is highly extravagant... VINTAGE CAR MUSEUM and RESTAURANT are at another location (outside palace gates) Lots of shops available inside the palace...the items are priced according to tourists...double rates than local market...one odd souvenier you may purchase...photographers rent rajasthani dresses for photography...that is one good thing... GARDEN HOTEL menu i have uploaded...hard drinks are served... A one time experience...if u r planning within budget, park in govt facility and take only 30 rs entry fee...u vl explore many things... If u r a lavish traveller...you have many avenues to explore here :)

Also very tiring as require a lot of walk. Need around 4 hours to visit the full place with museum. Very good for One time visit.

I have visited the City palace, and it's must visit place if you are in Udaipur. There is the entry ticket of Rs.300, but it's worth it. The place is so huge, I was not able to fit it in a full frame of camera. There is a history behind this beautiful palace.

Well maintained, iconic 450 year palace. A must visit site that shows the history, the indulgence and opulence of a bygone era. From the delicate paintings, to the pretty glass windows and of course the silver room and the mirrored rooms are incredible. Also has 2, from memory, bathing pools, cut from single pieces of marble. The craftsmanship is sublime. Yes it’s busy without any curators to nudge you forward, but it’s clearly signposted the route to take, but I would say a guide was really helpful in explaining the museum pieces to us. Wide views of Udaipur from the top. Oh, and there are a lot of steps. Enjoy

The best palace I have ever visited. The cleanliness and maintenance is the best part. It's really as huge as it looks in the image. So have your stamina full. The museum and art gallery is impressive as it's developed and managed by the Ministry of Culture, Government of India. Must visit if you're going to Udaipur. Entry ticket fees are 30 ₹ To visit the palace museum you have to pay, 400 ₹for adults 150 ₹for students

City palace is a must visit place in udaipur.! It is beside the lake pichola. It is very beautiful, huge and well maintained place. You can take a buggy ride as well with extra cost for going inside. The entry ticket to the museum is little high. If you are going it is recommended to go along with a guide. Guides who are there, explain the historical events and give you all the important information relating to the palace.

Good old Mewar region museum which houses their all history records photographs etc. The palace is witness to all their lives and times. You get good guides their too, who very faithfully take you through all the aspects, including history and structure of the palace. While the palace itself is great, and the museum is elaborate in its collection, the maddening rush of tourists mean you get barely a few moments around one attraction before you're pushed over. The museum has a fixed tour path which you aren't allowed to deviate from meaning spending more time at one particular spot is while not prohibited, certainly frowned upon. At 300 per person the fee is on the steeper side but if you manage to come here on a work day, maybe with less of a swarm of people around you'll enjoy it more

This place defines architectural aesthetics like no one ever could.. beautiful, pleasing, well managed, clean.. all at once..The guide we got was knowledgeable and told every detail about the place. I would suggest to always hire a guide while visiting historical places like this. U get a proper detail about the place n u enjoy well.. located at bank of lake Pichola, visitors have chance of enjoying boating as well.. PS :- Although boating is most enjoyable during sunset but that slot is a bit over priced..

During my visit to City Place in 2023, I had a wonderful experience. The ticket price for non-NRI visitors above a certain age was 300. It was definitely worth the price considering the incredible attractions and activities available. You can easily spend four to five hours exploring everything this place has to offer. One of the highlights of City Place is its extensive range of museums. From art to history, there is something to cater to every interest. I was particularly impressed by the variety and depth of exhibits. Each museum provides a unique and enriching experience, allowing visitors to delve into different aspects of culture and knowledge. Moreover, City Place offers picturesque spots that are perfect for capturing memorable photos. Whether you're a photography enthusiast or simply want to document your visit, you'll find countless opportunities to snap stunning pictures. The architecture, landscapes, and overall ambiance create a visually captivating setting that you'll absolutely love. What sets City Place apart is its ability to cater to diverse interests and age groups. Whether you're a history buff, an art lover, or simply seeking a place to spend quality time with friends and family, you'll find plenty to do and enjoy here. In conclusion, my visit to City Place left me impressed and satisfied. The ticket price was reasonable considering the enriching experiences available. I highly recommend visiting this place if you're looking for a memorable day out filled with exploration, photo opportunities, and cultural immersion.

A must visit place in Udaipur..A guided visit is good as they tell you about the history of the place and there are multilingual guides available. There is exhibition of paintings, clothes , utensils and weapons used by the royals inside Beautiful palace but crowded during the festive seasons. The view of the city making it known as the white City is evident from the topmost area of the palace. The architecture and beauty of the place is really good..we took a golf cart to come up at 50 rupees per person and you can walk down. The ticket entry has concession for senior citizens and students. Overall I loved the place..

History surrounds you as you walk along the lake as the castle looms over you. Beautifully maintained as a hundreds of years old Palace can be. For City palace museum entrance ticket cost you INR330 ..it's too costly because it will not give the museum feel..most of the things in the museum is fake and a replica...they take you around the balcony areas only and within an hr one can cover the general places of this palace...I had much expectations before visiting this palace but after visiting the palace I was very disappointed.. Recommend others to avoid this fort as there is nothing to see inside

A must visit place. Keep aside almost 3 to 4 hours from your schedule for this destination. Either choose a guide or read thoroughly regarding the palace before visiting. An excellent way to go through the history of Udaipur. Enjoy the tour take some pics, and most importantly, enjoy the history.

Great place to visit in udaipur. 330 ₹ ticket. Hire a guide to visit the place. You can take electric cab also for 50 ₹ to reach palace from the ticket window. Roughly it will take 3 hrs to complete visit. Outside the palace there are few shops for traditional items.

This have the Maharana pratap's used things. How they planned and made this palace with a great security. It was really difficult to breach the security of this place. Experience was good. You must hire a guide to improve your experience. Loved the architecture too.

Could spend an entire day in there getting lost in the beauty. Easy access and well maintained. Discounted entry pass for students. Plenty to look at and I found a few good spots to just sit and enjoy some 'me time'. The shops in there are too pricey, so I would suggest you buy the same stuff from the streets.

This is a place which you should visit if you are interested to know about the history of the city of lakes. I normally see that people don't take guides to see this historic palace and they just go there to click photos. But, I took a guide there and it was really engaging to see all the art work and architecture of the palace from a professional person. I asked many questions to the guide and he also became happy to tell more than required. I was very engrossed in the whole journey of the palace and also I took a boat to jagmandir and sat there in the restaurant to enjoy the beauty of the lake.

Perfect place to experience royalty in udaipur... It's the place where the prince of udaipur currently lives... Museum is great for knowledge and family purposes... But if you are with friends go over the ghat area where you can just chill or click some amazing pics by the lake... You can enjoy boating or lazer show in the evening. If on a honeymoon you can hire a private yatch to enjoy the lake and have fun watching sunset in the middle of lake

A must visit with guide if you really want to enjoy entire place, it’s totally managed by royal family which you can clearly see once you enter, everything is neat and clean and lots of renovations work in progress. Need minimum 2 hrs to cover everything so plan accordingly (if you go without guide then perhaps 1 hr) Driving to palace may be challenging because of narrow roads so taking auto rickshaw perhaps wise choice

Royal! There are 2 types of tickets available depending on the time spent inside. 30 min and 3 hr I guess. In the 30 min slot you can't enter the museum part. Although you can see the building from outside all areas and the shopping area. It's better to take a guide cause it makes things interesting and mainly you get to know about the history.

The palace is beautiful no doubt but if you are here be aware of falling into one key tourist trap. If you take a guide with you he will tell you about how sarees were made using rose step, fruit stalk and so on and take you to a shop in the end. The shop claims that all money of sales go to charity and the raw materials of their products are given by the current king. All this is however fake and they trick you into buying sarees for 6000-10,000 Rs whereas the original price might only be 2000-3000Rs. Also they will try to sell you a blanket/duvet saying it’s medicated which is also fake

A grandeur architectural marvel providing glimpse into the erstwhile royalty of this region. Ticket cost - Rs, 330 which gives you access to entire palace complex including is interiors and the museum. Palace is well managed, clean, efficient staff, helpful signages and needs a good 2-3 hours for soaking in the entirety of this majestic Marvel with mesmerizing interiors full of colours. Guide services are available and they usually ask 500-600 per group/family for explaining the history of royalty associated with this palace. There's a cafe with few options run by HRH group of hotels. Drinking water and toilet facilities are also available. Best time to enjoy this place would be on a weekday in off peak season.

City Palace is one of the beautiful places to visit when you are in Udaipur. To visit this place, you have to buy tickets. There are two types of tickets, one for visiting outer peripheral areas where you can visit the outer places only and can't actually see what is inside the palace, if you have less like 3-4 hours then you should opt for outer peripheral areas and The second type of ticket includes visiting the whole palace from inside out, but to visit the whole palace you should plan your whole day there, because there are so many picturesque corners, where you will not be tired to take your pictures and will know much about its historical perspective.

Museum is outstanding. The ticket is worth it, unlike the city palace of Jaipur. The facade is outstanding, so are the numerous arches and gates. Crowded yeah, but equally magnificent. Also, the museum of the palace isn't really for senior citizens and those with knee problems or arthritis as the stairs inside are very steep. So it's advisable to such people to not put money into the museum ticket and rather enjoy the views of the towering facade from the lawn. Better spend the saved money in the amazing cafe right at the entrance. Haha. Photography in the palace is largely allowed so that shouldn't be an issue. Do not miss - 1. The gallery of musical instruments. 2. The amar mahal I guess (the complex wherein all the antiquities are kept). Pro tip - 1. Carry our student I'd card to get a very good discount. Museum entry costs just Rs. 100 for students with a card - college or school any I'd works. 2. Service men (and ex servicemen) and senior citizens can also get tickets on concession. It costs just Rs. 200 for them.

The main attraction of the city is this palace. It's a must visit place. The whole site seeing takes around 2-4 hours depending upon how much photos you take :) the view from the top of palace is amazing, you can see the city from there. It's a really huge palace you might not understand how the structure is inside. You can get a guide from outside easily and they can explain each of the rooms and their values to the life of king and his queens. The biggest attraction inside the palace for me was shish mahal, a room with mirrors. It is wonderful. The palace is facing the lake pichola so you get a beautiful view of the lake as well.

Built on the banks of lake Pichola, the city palace in Udaipur is considered to be the largest complex in Udaipur. A huge palace with different places inside the palace itself like Mor Chowk and many more. Guide service is available for more information. Takes close to 3 hours to explore the entire palace. Handicraft shops are also located just outside the main palace.

Must visit palace if you are interested in History as it has 400 years attached to it. Better to go either in the morning or in the evening. Avoid visiting in afternoon as Udaipur is too hot during the day. Take the tourist guide as they will explain the history associated with it.

  • 5/5 Aswathi H. 3 years ago on Google
The palace is 400+ years old. Many parts of the palace have been restored and painted but there are still many portions that has been kept in its original form. It's definitely worth visiting. Experiencing the evening vibe at the City palace is a must.

  • 4/5 Gulam S. 3 years ago on Google

What a majestic palace it is, it gives a clear glimpse of Indian architecture during medieval period. I would suggest to hire a guide as it would give meaning to everything you see. It costs INR 400 for an Indian adult. Have ample amount of time in store to visit this place. Only negative thing which I felt while looking the palace was that you can't go back once you enter it and you have to complete the whole palace in order to exit it.

Built in granite and marble, City Palace complex is worth admiring for its perfect blend of Medieval, European and Chinese architecture. You should definitely hire a tour guide if you are interested in the history and want to learn about the palace. You should atleast spend 3-4 hours in the palace to see the entire palace. They also have amazing cafe and shopping stores for royal collection. Don't forget to take a boat ride and see the palace from different angle.

Highly recommended. IMMENSE STRUCTURE..One can see whole city from its top. Will take atleast 4 hours approximately to explore and in case you are history freak, even whole day is not enough. Entry ticket is around ₹300 .You can take electric cab also for ₹50 to reach palace from the ticket window. Overall, a must-visit for everyone who comes to Udaipur to visit.

  • 5/5 Aratrika G. 2 years ago on Google
The place is awesome. People say it is little overrated may be because of the tickets which are quite costly. Do take a guide, knowing the history adds to the experience. For the view we even visited it in the night and it was worth it, the palace was quite, beautiful and breath taking❤❤

  • 5/5 Atanu C. 2 years ago on Google
The beauty is inexplicable. Art, craft, history all in together. Only place and palace which is well maintained and properly protected. Be sure to cover all of it inside. If you come to Udaipur this is what you should definitely visit. Some important information - 1. Covid Vaccination details required 2. RTPCR negative. 3. Total tour will take 4 hours approximately. 4. Take a guide. After all you need someone to click your photos. 5. Take rest beside lake pichola.

  • 4/5 Mohammad M. 2 years ago on Google
I visited this place on August 21, 2021. We were four people traveling by car and reached there around 9.30 am. The ticket to enter inside the museum is 300 rupees for adults and 100 rupees for students having a valid  ID card. The charge for parking inside the palace is 350 rupees. I recommend travelers with their own vehicle to park their vehicle outside the palace in the designated parking facility which is cheap. The guides were available for 300 rupees for 2 hours but we did not take their service. The museum is private property and thus is very neat and clean and very well maintained. Once you enter the museum, you will be guided around the entire property with the help of signages which are kept around everywhere to help you navigate the entire museum. The museum is very beautiful will take you to a different time zone as most of the things that were used at that time are well preserved. Overall, a must-visit for everyone who comes to Udaipur to visit. Highly recommended.

If you are history lover and enjoy the old but real facts then City Palace museum is the place for for you. With nice weather & perfect view of Mountains and clouds. Rich work of Architecture & painting , mirror floors and yeah most important if you love musical instruments there are lots of old musical instruments, seeing these instruments were make me greedy to use all those though I don't know a word about musical instruments.#experience_it_yourself#make your journey memorable.

Place is good like we can spend around 1-2hours here. Palace needs repair and maintenance. Since it has black moisture spots on it. City view from here is awesome. You can view whole city from the palace. You can enjoy the royal view and click lots of pictures in there.

  • 5/5 Anonymous 2 years ago on Google
Its a very good place to go with family, friends for photography and to spend 3-4 hours seeing the historic monuments and the architecture. There is a restaurant inside the palace but its better to eat before going in or after getting out as its much cheaper. Overall very good experience.

Beautiful heritage place, build by royal kings. Unbelievable architecture work, huge area, uncountable number of rooms and next generation facilities available in that old time like before 50+ years. Visit once with family and you will feel royal experience. Just keep it mind that don't go for guide as all details are writen notes available in whole palace. You will need approximately 3 hours to enjoy completely. That's it.

  • 5/5 Dikshant P. 2 years ago on Google
Worth visiting during day time. Although the light and sound show at night is dull, drags on for an hour at stretch, without good usage of light. Beautifully built, one should visit at least 0130 hrs prior to closing time to fully explore it and enjoy the beauty and get good photos clicked. Must visit in Udaipur.

The place is really beautiful. And you get so many nice pictures of yourself and get an amazing view. My only issue with this place was that they did not have the audio guide available and despite that they were charging the same fees that the charge. I found the fees to be very high as opposed to the maintenance the palace had. I found it slightly overpriced. The car parking was for 350 which I believe is very unfair if you are already paying for the ticket.

One of the best kept museum in Rajasthan. This is a “must visit” place in Udaipur, where you can have a great time with family or friends. It’s main attraction is the Crystal gallery, whose tickets are to be purchased separately; another one is the residence of Maharana and lastly, the museum itself. There are eateries outside in the open and video guides our palace guides are available at a reasonable amount. There are models, clothes, some weapons, paintings, etc which can be enjoyed by tourists or enthusiasts.

  • 5/5 Hemant k. 2 years ago on Google
This is the place for which Udaipur is famous for. Main tourist attraction, this is in old city; avoid taking your car as lanes are too narrow. Entry fee is 300/person and parking fee is 350 Rs. Must see PALACE (place 👍👍👌👌). One can take boat from here to see nearby places. Boat fare is 500Rs per person above 18 year of age.

This is one of the most amazing palace I have been to. The ticket price is 300 per head. The history is very rich, so do take a guide with you. It will merely cost 100 and to get a local guide and you will get to look into the lives of maharajas living in the palace 300 years ago. P.S: Do give a like if the review was helpful.

One of the best Palace in Udaipur. Will recommend everyone to hire a guide ( Rs 300 ) which is very affordable. They will tell you all the necessary details and history about the Maharajas. It takes 2-3 hours to complete the guided tour and see the Palace. Boat ride and temple visit will take additional 2-3 hours approx

The city palace museum is a place like if you want to visit this place based on the name then yes, please proceed. It didn't interest me much, because I felt it's more of artificial settings. The entry fee and the other things are rich. You will see more history books pictures with few museum elements. The city palace itself is worth for the evening sunset that you will be witnessing.

The best place to visit in Udaipur. Find parking in the nearby areas or else pay ₹350 for parking in city palace. Carry one bottle along with you. Enjoy the views with naked eyes. Carrying a mask is compulsary. Electric cars are also available. Ticket price is ₹330/person. For boating extra ₹800/person.

The place is beautiful and if you're a history enthusiast, then you're going to love everything about it. ❤️ I would suggest get a guide if you're a group to get a detailed information of the palace. Just one con : The crowd management is terrible.

It's a really big palace but tickets are too high, just for car parking they are charging 350/- and per person ticket charge is different that is also costly moreover you need lot of fortune to visit this place but i guess on some aspects it's worth it.. The lake view is really good👍 from the palace

City Palace Udaipur was quite big and nice however the day we went there was too much crowd. With too much crowd it’s scary while walking the stairs as most of the stairs are quite narrow and the steps are quite big as compared to normal steps of ladders. Still worth visiting the place and enjoying the beauty through open eyes. The artefacts are intact so pretty that you can’t keep your eyes away from it.

This place is a must visit if you are in Udaipur. The Museum holds a significant value in the history of india & is well preserved till date for tourists. I would suggest tourists to hire Guides available for 350 rupees as of now. They help you understand the history behind the rooms the kings who ruled & the kings who own the palace currently.

Udaipur City Palace is a wonderful place to spend an entire enjoyable day. The entire tour takes you through a labyrinth of paths from the Kings Palace and then through Queens Palace. The entire place showcases a plethora of royal items which are quite delightful. If you are tight on time, still the palace is vast enough to take atleast 2 hours to cover.

  • 3/5 Sanjay D. 2 years ago on Google
While the palace is beautiful, the museum curation and display collection have significant scope for further improvement. The collection has hardly anything to speak about. Having a separate charge for the Crystal Displays Museum and the Vintage Car Collection is an overkill.

A tourist's honest experience!! We reached the place by 10:30 in the morning. You'll have to pay around 330/- per person. Then you have three options, 1) you can take your own car till the palace for which you'll have to pay extra. 2) take electric Carts that'll Cary old and handicap visitors 3) you can walk and enjoy the view. We walked, you can take some nice clicks if you walk. The walk is for around 10-15 minutes not long. I'd recommend taking a guide along as they'd help you in navigating and explaining some interesting facts about the palace and the royal family. Overall, it took us around 3 hours to finish everything and reach your car. The place is really good filled with artifact's, beautiful views, scenic view of the white City and much more. I'd recommend visiting this place if you're visiting udaipur for the first time!!! Worth 330/- for sure.

If you're here, You can check out the Museum, which has some nice pieces to look at. Well maintained as well. Apart from the museum, everything from the Boating to the Cafe will cost you a lot of money and frankly isn't that good of an experience. All the tickets are way overpriced, unless you're a student. Make sure to carry a valid student ID for a good discount on Tickets.

It was a great experience. Loved the architecture style. The palace is well maintained and clean. Note - There is lot of walking involved for seeing everything in palace and also at some places stairs are needed to be climbed. So be ready for a nice long walk. Also it is important to carry a Water Bottle as walking is needed. Overall this a great place to visit and it's totally recommended to visit here once in life. Great job done by the palace authorities for maintenance and cleaning of the heritage place.

Heart of Udaipur. Entry fees 300 Rs (can get in for 100 Rs id you have a Student ID - mobile copy of ID is also fine). While you're here, a tour guide (300 Rs) is essential as there's nothing much written (except the final section, galleries) or you may rely on YouTube to guide you. Quite photogenic place. Go as early as possible to avoid crowd. Audio guide is for Rs 200.

The best place to visit in Udaipur. You will never be bored of it. The palace itself is a beauty. The museums are very good. There are so much to see in the museum. You need a whole day to see everything this place has to offer and its definitely worth spending a day there. Audio guides and other guides are available. I recommend you to use guides to know everything about the place. Also advice you to spend the evening there to witness the sound and light show. The evening view of the palace is so mesmerizing and beautiful.

Palace is huge, and it's very picturesque, prices are 300 per head or 100 If you are a student, if you are here just for sake of pics for Instagram, I wouldn't recommend you getting guide cause they all are in hurry, this place is huge and will take hours, only take guide if you are really interested in the history and stuff otherwise everything is written on boards

It was an amazing experience but it was mostly crowded. And moreover, the museum has some very narrow ways, due to which a lot of people were getting stuck in between. Keep going in a single line and you will make it out. You might fear going through narrow ways but don't worry. There are some emergency exits and there will be no problem even if you continue to watch the whole museum.

  • 4/5 mok g. 1 year ago on Google
Preservation of culture and heritage is an essential aspect of a nation, and I think that the people of India are doing a great job on this. The city palace museum generally has two types of tickets, like a general ticket, so you can view the outside and the other ticket is to get inside. You can see a lot of paintings, murals, preserved old rooms, and tools of important people. Captions are both written in Indian and English for foreigners. There are also some people outside who offer audio tours but with an additional charge apart from the paid ticket. Since it was a Saturday when we visited and also a long weekend due to holiday, the number of visitors is higher than usual so we can not read much or the texts as we have to move along with the flow of people. Overall, it's a nice experience, and people should try to visit once in a while.

An architectural masterpiece. Must visit for history buffs and people who appreciate indigenous architecture. City Palace, Udaipur is a palace complex situated in the city of Udaipur in the Indian state of Rajasthan. It was built over a period of nearly 400 years, with contributions from several rulers of the Mewar dynasty. Its construction began in 1553, started by Maharana Udai Singh II of the Sisodia Rajput family as he shifted his capital from the erstwhile Chittor to the newfound city of Udaipur. The palace is located on the east bank of Lake Pichola and has several palaces built within its complex. The City Palace in Udaipur was built in a flamboyant style and is considered the largest of its type in the state of Rajasthan. It was built atop a hill, in a fusion of the Rajasthani Rajput architecture providing a panoramic view of the city and its surroundings. Overlooking Lake Pichola, several historic monuments like the Lake Palace, Jag Mandir, Jagdish Temple, Monsoon Palace, and Neemach Mata temple, are all in the vicinity of the palace complex. Nestled within the Aravali mountain range, these landmarks are associated in popular culture with the filming of the 1983 James Bond movie Octopussy. Architecture The series of palaces in the city palace complex, behind an exquisite facade of 244 metres (801 ft) length and 30.4 metres (100 ft) height, were built on a ridge on the east of lake Pichola. The complex is located in Udaipur city at 24.576°N 73.68°E, which is set with an average elevation of 598 metres (1,962 ft).They were built over a long period, from 1559 onwards, by 22 generations of Sisodia Rajputs. Several Maharanas starting with Udai Singh II, have contributed to this edifice, which comprises an agglomeration of structures, including 11 small separate palaces. The unique aspect of this conglomeration is that the architectural design is distinctly homogeneous. The palace complex has been built entirely in granite and marble. The interiors of the palace complex with its balconies, towers and cupolas exhibit delicate mirror-work, marble-work, murals, wall paintings, silver-work, inlay-work and leftover of colored glass. The complex provides a view of the lake and the Udaipur city from its upper terraces. The palaces within the complex are interlinked through a number of chowks or quadrangles with zigzag corridors, planned in this fashion to avoid surprise attacks by enemies. Erected in the complex, after entering through the main Tripolia (triple) gate, are the Suraj Gokhda (public address facade), the Mor-chowk (Peacock courtyard), the Dilkhush Mahal (heart's delight), the Surya Chopar, the Sheesh Mahal (Palace of glass and mirrors), the Moti Mahal (Palace of Pearls), the Krishna Vilas (named after Lord Krishna), Shambu Niwas (royal residence now), the Bhim Vilas, the Amar Vilas (with a raised garden) that faces the Badi Mahal (the big palace), the Fateprakash Palace and the Shiv Niwas Palace; the last two have been converted into heritage hotels. The complex is set with facilities of a post office, bank, travel agency, numerous craft shops and also an Indian boutique belonging to the World Wildlife Fund (WWF). The entire complex is the property of the Mewar royal family with various trusts maintaining the structures.

City palace is one of the most prime tourist spots to visit. It has a lot to offer about the cultural heritage and history of Rajasthan. It is a wide-spreader property which will take around 2 hours to cover, but its worth the time. -> I would recommend you to book a guide (negotiate if possible - there are lot of tour guides available around) because the guides have lots of stories and information related to the history of the palace and the events that took place around to share with you. -> Avoid visiting during mid-noon as it becomes really hot to explore the place. So, prefer to visit during early day time or during the evening.

A Glimpse into Royalty: City Palace I recently had the pleasure of visiting the stunning City Palace and I must say, it exceeded all of my expectations. From the moment I entered the premises, I was captivated by the grandeur and rich history that permeated every inch of the palace. The architecture of the City Palace is a true testament to the skill and craftsmanship of the artisans of the bygone era. The intricate detailing, vibrant colors, and ornate carvings left me in awe. Each room and courtyard was like a work of art, and I found myself constantly reaching for my camera to capture the mesmerizing beauty. The palace also offers a fascinating glimpse into the lives of the royal family through its museum displays. The collection of artifacts, including exquisite artwork, weaponry, and clothing, provided valuable insights into the history and culture of the region. The audio guides available in multiple languages were informative and enhanced the overall experience. One of the highlights of my visit was the panoramic view of Lake Pichola and the surrounding city from the palace terrace. The breathtaking vista of the shimmering lake, along with the towering hills in the distance, made for an unforgettable moment. The staff at the City Palace were polite, helpful, and knowledgeable, always ready to answer any questions and provide recommendations about the best spots to visit within the palace. Additionally, the organization and maintenance of the palace were commendable, ensuring a smooth and enjoyable visit for all. Overall, my visit to the City Palace was an enriching and memorable experience. I highly recommend it to anyone interested in history, architecture, and the grandeur of royal palaces. It is undoubtedly a must-see attraction in Udaipur. Make sure to allocate enough time to fully explore and appreciate all that this magnificent place has to offer..

City Palace, Udaipur, is one of the well maintained places around. It is managed and maintained by a trust and as usual in all the places of Udaipur, this is also a costly affair to visit. However, this place will always be crowded as this is one of best sights in Udaipur. The place needs 2-3 hours to fully understand and grasp the abundance of wealth and history showcased here. The parts of the palace is divided into 3, 1. Museum – where we all enter and watch the historical things. 2. Hotel – A part of the palace is maintained as a hotel. 3. Official Residence – Part of the palace is till used as the official residence and we don't have entry there. Apart from the palace, we can also take a boat ride in the lake, which is around 1 hour. The place is well maintained and clean. The washrooms are also well maintained compared to the number of people visits here daily. Overall, a good one time visit.

A great place to visit and needs 2-3 hours to complete the visit. Well maintained place and clean. The trust and the King must spend some time to get this organized as they own the place. The EV transportation is messed up and chaos this must be corrected. Hope the trust and King takes note of this. The palace is well known and soaked in history. The fees to visit the fort varies for local and international tourists. This is a common practice in many places. Hope this can be corrected sooner than later. There is an abundance of wealth and history showcased here. Part of the palace is also an hotel. Part of the palace is still used as official residence as well.

Beautifully maintained as a hundreds of years old Palace can be. I can only imagine being that high up looking from the Palace over the surrounding countryside. History surrounds you as you walk along the lake as the castle looms over you. I definitely suggest a visit or stay at the hotel located in the Palace. Highly recommended. There was some VVIP marriage was going on when i visited, They closed very early. I felt disturbing tourist who came from different parts of the world is not so good.
