We recently had the opportunity to stay at ICHUMBI GORILLA LODGE, and it was an unforgettable experience. Nestled amidst the lush landscapes of right on the edge of Uganda impenetrable forest, the lodge offers a truly immersive encounter with nature. The staff was warm and welcoming, making sure every need was met. The lodge itself boasts comfortable accommodations with a rustic charm, and the gorilla-themed decor adds a unique touch. The highlight, of course, was the proximity to the gorilla habitat. Waking up to the sounds of the forest and having the chance to embark on gorilla trekking expeditions was a dream come true. The guides were knowledgeable and passionate, enhancing the overall adventure. One thing to note is that the journey to ICHUMBI GORILLA LODGE involves a challenging off-roading drive. The rugged terrain adds an element of adventure to the trip, but it’s essential to be prepared for a bumpy ride. The remote location of the lodge is a double-edged sword, as it provides an authentic and secluded experience but requires some effort to reach. Due to the hard off-roading nature of the drive, it’s recommended to have a sturdy vehicle and a sense of adventure. And what we mean by this make sure if you’re hiring a tour company that they have a heavy duty off-road vehicle. Preferably with air condition. We double check that we got a very nice Land Cruiser. This part of the journey might not be suitable for those who prefer smoother rides. However, once you arrive at the lodge, the breathtaking views and unique experiences make the challenging drive well worth it. Overall, ICHUMBI GORILLA LODGE is perfect for nature enthusiasts and adventurers who are willing to tackle a rough drive in exchange for an authentic wildlife encounter. The memories and stories we gained from this journey will undoubtedly be cherished for years to come.

The lodge is located at the mountainside with direct view of the mountains and close to the camp for gathering before the gorilla tracking. The staff is very welcoming and we were offered to change our house immediately after we found out a toilet was leaking. The houses are astounding and very nicely decorated. The overall atmosphere was truly great and so was the food. At dinner time we were asked for our keys so that hot water bottles were placed in our beds as it gets chilly in the night. Wifi is available at the rooms however dysfunctional. It only works at the restaurant/ lobby.

A fabulous place to stay. Rhona in particular is incredible. Nothing was too much trouble. Thoughtful touches like a brazier in the evening to warm us, a bowl of popcorn and a cosy blanket when we returned exhausted from our Gorilla tracking. The cottages are clean and comfortable. The garden is beautiful. I highly recommend this place .

Unbelievably great stay. First off, the location of this lodge is simply picturesque, nestled in between rolling jungle hills. The lodge features about 15 cottages and are all very private, each with its own terrace. The bedrooms are incredibly cozy. What I loved the most is the staff put hot water bottles in our bed before nighttime (it get very cold at night in the jungle). Finally, the staff was simply the best, each and every one of them made us feel so very special. Thank you very much for the stay. We will be back!

Nothing was too difficult for the staff at Ichumbi! The service was excellent, food was delicious, drinks were well price and the rooms were so comfortable. Wifi was inconsistent but we enjoyed a break from technology

The place we felt most comfortable and cared for during our trip to Uganda. The lodge is cozy, beautiful, totally clean and the perfect set off point for Gorilla trekking. Most importantly, stuff is incredibly sweet and professional and you really have the feeling they care about you. :) Food is also awesome.

The Ichumbi Gorilla lodge exceeded all expectations. Our host, Job Ernest Ayosiga was a master of hospitality and ensured our every need was met. The rest of his team (Ronah, Joakin and Micheal) were always there to make sure everything ran smoothly. Everyone we met always greeted us with a big smile and addressed us by name, so we felt very welcome. The accommodation was fantastic, meals were all delicious, views from the balcony were breathtaking...and that’s not even considering the gorilla trek! I would recommend a stay here to anyone.

Ichumbi is a little slice of heaven in the rainforest. Location is great - only a 10 minute drive to the gate for gorilla trekking. The cottages are private and have a deck with wonderful views of the Rushaga sector of Bwindi. Rooms are well appointed, but a bit on the small side. The bed was comfy and shower was nice. Best of all was the incredible service - a special thank you to Morris and Speciata. WiFi is only available in the bar/restaurant but there are great chill out areas.

What a paradise!! Nested in the misty bwindi with beautiful stand alone cottages, clean rooms with private balcony to catch up with some pages of your soul as you overlook the impenetrable forest. Delicious meals,friendly/lovely staff 5 minutes drive from the park headquarters. Lovely place. Top tier the warm beds in the cold bwindi ever at Ichumbi. Highly recommended.

I booked a gorilla trek and Batwa community experience at Bwindi Impenetrable Forest National Park through a tour company and this was the lodge they booked for me. Staying here was a wonderful experience. Staff were extremely helpful, friendly, and welcoming, and the food for each meal was delicious. Coffee is available at any time for no additional cost, and same with laundry services. I especially enjoyed the evening performance by the children of the local community - they will pull you up from the audience to dance with them, and you have an opportunity to support them by purchasing some crafts they made including hand carved gorillas and woven products - well worth the money all around. The phone data connection was non-existent for me and the wifi only works in reception/restaurant area. This makes sense because it is located in a remote/mountainous/forested area and you shouldn't really be coming for the wifi but just a heads up in case you need connections to work remotely (like me unfortunately). At night, the staff will place a container with hot water in your bed to warm it up for you because it does get very cold at night, and they leave a cute card on the bed when they do this with a poem about the area and the lodge. I thought that was a nice touch. I highly recommend Ichumbi Gorilla Lodge for your lodging during your gorilla trek in Bwindi.

One of the best Gorilla Safari lodges to live in while in Bwindi. The rooms are so ambient, the food is amazing and the scenery around is breathtaking.
