UVRI is a world class Center of excellence for biomedical research. The research done here ranges from basic sciences, pre-clinical trials and clinical trials work, diagnosis and surveillance and disease control. the institute engages in all health research pertaining to human infections, parasite vectors and disease especially viral related conditions. They also offer training through internships and graduate research. Through various collaboration, the institute has done a huge contribution to better understanding of infection and immunity in the country, the region and world at large.
