One of a kind temple located on the northern outskirts of Ujjain near the Kshipra river is said to be the place where the planetary God Mangal [Mars] was born. Locals call it the 'navel of India' because this is where First Meridian of Longitude intersects the Tropic of Cancer. The principal deity here is Lord Shiva and a unique ritual ' Bhat Puja ' [offering cooked rice to the God] is practiced here. Nice ambience with positive vibes can be felt in this only Mars temple in the entire world.

The Mangalnath Temple is an ancient Hindu temple located in Ujjain, Madhya Pradesh, India. It is dedicated to Lord Shiva and is considered one of the most important pilgrimage sites for devotees of Lord Mars, known as "Mangal" in Hindi. The temple is associated with an interesting legend. According to Hindu mythology, it is believed that Lord Mars was born here to Lord Shiva and Goddess Parvati. This event is said to have taken place at the exact spot where the Mangalnath Temple stands today. Due to this association, the temple holds special significance for those seeking blessings and protection from the planet Mars, especially during astrologically significant periods. The Mangalnath Temple is not only a place of worship but also a place of astrological importance. Many devotees visit the temple seeking remedies for the malefic effects of Mars in their horoscopes. The temple complex also offers a panoramic view of the Shipra River and is particularly popular for its breathtaking sunsets.

The ancient history says, Mangaldev was born here. This is the only dedicated temple for Mangaldev in India. If you are in Ujjain, must visit place. Try to avoid going on weekends and Tuesday. The queue is temple is manageable and there are security guards who take care of it. Overall a good temple to visit.

Situated near shipra river, this is a temple of lord shiva in the form of mangalnath. It is said that tropic of cancer passes through this temple. Beautifully crafted anf maintained this place is beautiful and clean. There is also a temple of mata bhuvneshwari , who happens to be mother of lord mangalnath. We visited quite late so there wasn't any crowd as such. Nice place to be in if you happen to bein ujjain or nearby.

Mangalnath Temple in Ujjain is a sacred and serene place that holds great significance in Hindu mythology and astrology. Located on the banks of the Shipra River, this ancient temple is dedicated to Lord Shiva, specifically in his form as Mangal (Mars), a planet in Vedic astrology. The temple's architecture is both simple and elegant, with its distinct red spire standing out against the sky. Devotees and tourists flock to Mangalnath Temple to seek blessings and perform rituals associated with Mars, especially during Tuesdays, which are considered auspicious for Mars worship. One of the unique features of this temple is its proximity to the prime meridian, which is believed to enhance the temple's astrological significance. It is said that prayers and offerings made here can alleviate the malefic effects of Mars in one's horoscope. The peaceful ambience of Mangalnath Temple, coupled with its spiritual aura, makes it a must-visit destination for those interested in Hindu astrology and culture. While it may not be as grand as some other temples in India, its historical and astrological importance adds a layer of intrigue that captivates visitors. However, do keep in mind that during peak pilgrimage seasons, the temple can get quite crowded. Overall, Mangalnath Temple offers a unique blend of spirituality, astrology, and historical charm, making it a worthwhile stop for anyone visiting Ujjain.

One more place is Kashi. All the panchanga and sanatan astronomy has holds and basis on the time that is started and does start from ujjain. The Mangalnath temple is located on bank of river Kshipra at ankpaat marg Agar road, Ujjain. The temple is dedicated to lord shiv as mangal grah (mars planet). The temple structure is huge and made of red sandstone and believed that it's the birthplace of mangal. Many devotees come for different pooja like kal-sarp dosh, bhaat pooja, mangal shanti etc. There is also a beautiful pakshi ghar (birds tower) is been made for birds to make nests in it. The temple is famous for its astronomical importance as it is believed that the tropic of cancer line and longitude line crosses just above the shivling. Hence it made the ujjain located on zero meridian. That is why Ujjain was referred as maritime location of the world in Ancient time or 'Greenwich of India'. There is also an astrological phenomena happens after every several years that the shadow of the objects get disappeared in ujjain. Last time this phenomena happened in june 2016.

This temple is said to be of Lord Shiva who took the planet Mngal (Mars). It is being developed and renovation work is going on. After completion it will be a big complex where those devotees who want to ward off bad effects of grahas or planets do Puja etc. It requires more man management and a proper system.

I had a wonderful experience at Mangalnath Temple in Ujjain. The temple management is commendable, ensuring a well-organized space inside for devotees, especially during Mangal Pooja and Hawan ceremonies. The temple's cleanliness added to the serene atmosphere. While the Pooja prices, like the ex-navgrah Pooja at Rs 2100, might seem a bit expensive, it's appreciated that the rates are fixed. Overall, a great place for spiritual moments.

Nestlein the heart of the bustling marketplace, Mangalnath Temple offers a serene escape. The spiritual ambiance of the temple, coupled with its historical significance, creates an atmosphere of tranquility and reflection. The temple's architecture is captivating, and the rituals performed here add to the cultural richness. It serves as a peaceful retreat from the vibrant energy of the surrounding shops. Speaking of the shops lining the temple's periphery, they add to the overall experience. From traditional handicrafts to local delicacies, the bazaars are a feast for the senses. However, a slight overcrowding occasionally detracts from the serene environment. In summary, Mangalnath Temple is a must-visit, offering a blend of spirituality and cultural immersion. The nearby shops enhance the overall experience, though a touch more organization could elevate the visit. Solid four stars for an enriching cultural excursion!
