Recently I have visited Kamakhya and other two Temples locally named "Bogola Maa Mandir" and "Bhubaneswari Mandir" which was located at the top of Nilachal Hill. The view from the top is just inexplicable, one need to visit there to actually realise it. The day we visited was very cloudy with immense amount of rainfall, we are not able to go inside the Kamakhya Temple as there was a very long queue of devotees waiting outside, we had to hire a Pandit to do all the ritual activities, however we successfully visited other two Temples that I've mentioned above which were almost empty compared to Kamakhya temple. The place is filled with local vendors who deals with Hindu holy items and accessories, there are also great food hotels to have Lunch, also a medical dispensary in case of any emergency. Communication is easy as there is lots of options for both public and private transport.

Pictures taken from top of the hills. Nice location just 600m from kamakhya temple. You can get OLA ride from Guwahati. Due big trees little difficult to get the clear view of Brahmaputra river.

Very powerful place, Kamakhya Devi temple is here, very divine and powerful, this is called Yoni peetha one of the Shakti peethas... animal sacrifice is very common here, all the temples around the temple also having BALI PEETHA, it is called Tantra peetha also because of different types of Tantric pooja done here.

Nilachal Hill top is situated above the Maa Kamakhya Temple after crossing the Maa Bagula Temple. This place has its own beauty band charm. Come whenever you may, morning or evening, this place will never cease to bring calmness in one's mind and heart. This serene place is surrounded with vast greenery. And the best part is you can see the whole Guwahati City from the view points. There are seating arrangements which helps even the elderlies enjoy the view. Tired after a long day at Kamakhya temple? Just come here and all your tiredness will be gone. I promise!! There are nice parking spot for your vehicles just before you reach this place. With enough space for many cars as well as bikes. Just after crossing the parking spot, and befor reaching this place, there a small park with garden, with beautiful flowers and trees. The children can come and play and have fun. No need to be concerned about their safety as because enough precautions are taken for their wellbeing and safety. If you are a cyclist like me and wants some adventure, you can try riding up to the hill top. I have posted a picture of my cycle and the beautiful tree at the center after I reached the summit. Oh what a day it was!!

Nilachal Hill, located in the heart of Guwahati, is a serene and spiritually significant destination that captivates visitors with its natural beauty and cultural importance. Standing tall on the southern bank of the Brahmaputra River, this hill is primarily known for the Kamakhya Temple, one of the most revered Shakti Peethas in India. The hill offers a breathtaking panoramic view of the city of Guwahati, with lush greenery and the majestic Brahmaputra River in the backdrop. It's a perfect spot for nature enthusiasts and photographers. The Kamakhya Temple, dedicated to the Goddess Kamakhya, attracts pilgrims and tourists alike. Its unique architecture and religious significance make it a must-visit. The annual Ambubachi Mela, celebrated here, is a cultural extravaganza. Nilachal Hill also houses other small temples and ashrams, adding to its spiritual aura. Visitors can explore the serene surroundings, filled with the sound of temple bells and chirping birds. While the hill is a popular tourist spot, it retains its tranquility and offers a peaceful escape from the hustle and bustle of Guwahati city. Nilachal Hill is a testament to the harmony between nature and spirituality, making it a gem in Assam's cultural and natural heritage.

Also known as the Nilachal Range or Blue Mountains, are a mountain range located in the northeastern part of India. They are part of the larger Eastern Ghats mountain range and are situated in the state of Assam. The Nilachal Hills are of great cultural and religious significance, particularly for followers of Hinduism. They are home to the Kamakhya Temple, one of the most revered Hindu temples in India. The temple is dedicated to the goddess Kamakhya, and it attracts a large number of devotees and tourists throughout the year, especially during the Ambubachi Mela, a major religious festival held at the temple. Besides its religious importance, the Nilachal Hills offer scenic beauty and are a popular destination for nature enthusiasts. The hills are covered with lush green forests, providing habitat to a variety of flora and fauna. The Brahmaputra River flows near the hills, adding to the picturesque landscape. The Nilachal Hills and its surrounding areas also offer opportunities for trekking, hiking, and birdwatching. Visitors can explore the natural beauty of the region, enjoy panoramic views, and experience the serene atmosphere.

The hills provide the most natural setting to the Kamakhya temple. You can go for early morning jogging or take a drive to experience the beauty of nature. You can soak in the beauty of the place with fresh air, chirping of birds, beautiful view downhill and natural streams. The play of the sun amongst the leaves makes the place worth viewing.

Beyond its religious significance, Nilachal Hill offers a tranquil escape from the bustling city below. The peaceful surroundings provide an ideal setting for meditation and introspection, allowing visitors to connect with their inner selves and find solace amidst the beauty of nature. The hill is well-maintained, and the local authorities have taken efforts to preserve its natural beauty and religious importance. The experience of witnessing morning or evening prayers, especially during festivals, adds an extra layer of spirituality to the visit. Overall, Nilachal Hill is a must-visit destination for anyone traveling to Guwahati or seeking a profound spiritual experience. It offers a perfect blend of natural splendor, cultural richness, and a sense of divinity that will leave a lasting impression on your heart and mind...
