I am writing this review to share my experience with GRIT sports academy. My 3-year-old child attended their camp, and I must say I am disappointed with how they handled certain incidents. During my child's time at the camp, there was an unfortunate incident where my child suffered an injury on his back. What concerns me the most was the lack of immediate attention and care provided by the staff. It seemed like they were ill-prepared to handle such situations and showed a disregard for my child's well-being. Additionally, I had raised my concerns with the academy, but their response seemed defensive rather than empathetic. As parents, we trust them to prioritize the safety and care of our children, and this experience has left us feeling let down. I believe that GRIT should reevaluate their approach to handling injuries and incidents involving young children. It's crucial for them to have a proactive and attentive staff who can provide adequate care when accidents happen. While I appreciate the fun activities my child enjoyed at the camp, their well-being should always be the top priority. I hope the academy takes these concerns seriously and implements necessary changes to ensure a safe and nurturing environment for all the children in their care. In conclusion, I would think twice before enrolling my child again, and I hope other parents take this review into consideration when making their decisions.

My 8 year old injured his left ankle at one of the activities in summer camp. He was limping very badly, and he said he jumped from a high structure, fell on his ankle and when he tried to stand up he couldn’t. He complained and one person there (he says it was their camp director) told him he was pretending. He got intimidated, he couldn’t walk or even stand straight and they took the decision to just put some ice all afternoon and made him wait for more than 3 hours until we got there. No one had the decency to contact my husband or me (then WHY in registration they make you fill up a lot of paperwork related to insurance, medical history, vaccination cads, emergency contacts). The person in charge told me they were not allowed to call parents and that they had sent me an email ( which either of his parents received). Can you imagine? Your son has a swollen ankle, and they decide the best route to go is to send you an email. To make it worse, the coaches there tried to brush the situation off, and were pretty defensive and aggressive. I understand accidents can happen, but Grit needs to have more empathy for the kids when these incidents happen and they need to own their responsibility to contact parents ( I’ve read another couple of reviews just like mine in here). After we left the facilities I told the coaches that I expected Peyton Kay would call me that day, never happened. We went to City MD right after pick up and the doctor decided my son needed XRays because he couldn’t tell if his ankle was broken or not just by seeing it. My kid ended up with an sprain ankle, but at Grit they didn’t call me because “nothing bad happened”! Terrible management of the situation.

I am a standby person and parent who took a baby and 2 year old to the playground right across where GRIT I was there for 2 hours. What I noticed was the staff, 7 for like 100 kids not paying attention to any of them as they played. The kids were disrespectful and pushing the baby and me while we’re on the slide about to go down and also pushed my 2 year old and not once did a staff member address because none of them are being watched. If anything were to happen amongst kids they wouldn’t have a straight story cause none of them what’s going on. It looks like great place but the lack of supervision is concerning.

I cannot imagine how I would have survived this school year without GRIT, Peyton, and all the staff. My son has thrived at GRIT despite the upside down world we live in right now. I expected him to get help with his schoolwork, to get some structure, and to have fun with other kids (which he did get). What I didn't expect was the noticeable boost in my son's confidence and independence. My son was not the daring type when it came to jumping onto walls or jumping off rocks. Now he is climbing on rocks, balancing on walls, jumping up and down wherever he can. he is more adventurous and willing to try. Peyton and his staff are caring and supportive. The flexibility has been a big help for me personally. As an added bonus is the location with the small park across the way so in the good weather and the snow the kids can get outside. Thank you Peyton for all you have done for us!!

My 4 year old son is hard to please with classes, but he loves GRIT. He asked me if he could take the Parkour class everyday. The instructors are great, really patient with the kids and all the staff is super friendly. We're already planning to have my son's bday party there in the spring.

My son has been going to GRIT for birthday parties, summer camp, no school days, and kids’ nights since he was 4. He just turned 5 and had his birthday party there, which went smoothly thanks to the three lovely coaches. The coaches helped set up, serve food, and even pack goodie bags - on top of organizing games and playing with all 13 kids. The gym is lush with games, obstacle courses, and a rock climbing wall, which he loves. But it’s the coaches that really make this place worthwhile for the kids - they care, they get in and play with them, they teach them how to brush off a fall, etc. My son loved summer camp - learned so much, we could really see a difference in his confidence level in climbing, skateboarding, sports, etc. They also worked with me on dates, as summer plans aren’t easy for us to schedule too far in advance due to my husband’s job. Overall, best parkour gym in Jersey City, love that it is right around the corner. Thanks for everything, Peyton!

Both my 9 and 7 year olds enjoy the parkour classes at GRIT so much! They can’t wait for the next class. In addition to being fun, the class is physically intense and challenging. The kids come back quite exausted, very hungry, and absolutely happy! It’s a perfect afterschool activity.

Our two sons are attending GRIT for parkour class and also one week of summer camp last summer. They absolutely love it ! The coach and staff are extremely nice with them and made them comfortable even if they were not speaking English at the beginning. It is really nice to see them making so much progress in parkour and having so much fun. I totally recommend !

We have been going to GRIT since it opened, and we love it! It's a great mix of athletic skills and fun. Highly recommend all aspects - drop off nights, classes, camps, etc. Our kids always have fun at GRIT and get in a nice workout!

My son and niece really enjoyed this well run, fun summer camp; great and inventive, active varied options, activities lots of, things to do, indoors, outdoors, great! A counselor in Training program was a surprise and big plus. 6 stars!

My 12 year old son had an emotionally challenging last school semester, and we didn’t know how he’d adapt to camp. All I can say is that Peyton, the camp owner, and the GRIT camp counselors, listened to me, expressed only empathy, and assured me that my son was in good hands that they’d work with us. They kept their word. My son loves it and is happy. The camp leaders check in with me and are responsive to my inquiries. I am one very grateful Mama!!!

We love GRIT! We've had our daughter's birthday party here two years in a row. The coaches are so great with the kids. Peyton and his staff are super helpful and responsive. They truly make the day easy and stress free. Other parents say it's the most chill birthday party they've been to!

Beware of this place!!! My child injured his head while playing around wood houses! They have rough corners and small kids can easily get hurt🤕. This place is not child friendly especially for small kids that require a lot of attention.

Celebrated my son's 8th birthday at GRIT and EVERY SINGLE child had the BEST TIME EVER! We had a full hour of Nerf Gun battles - the boys left looking like they took a plunge in the water! It's all about the kids and boy does GRIT do it right!!!

I had my son's birthday party at Grit yesterday. It was a group of 10 toddlers (3-4) and about 15 adults. I was a bit nervous about the short time window of 90 minutes but the staff was so helpful. We got the food and decorations set up very efficiently. The coaches did a great job with getting the kids to cooperate with all of the activities. Everyone was so polite, competent, and accomodating in the days leading up to the party and during the event. It's a great space and they really do their best in a very compressed amount of time (2 hour parties are also available). Overall it was really an awesome experience. I'd highly recommend for any families with yong toddlers. The drop in classes are also really fun and well done.

My daughter has participated in Grit’s summer camp and after school program—and both provide a safe, fun, high-energy experience. The staff is really attentive and supportive. I’m grateful our community has Grit as a home away from home for active kids.

Possibly the best camp our three kids have ever attended. We now send them for every school break as well. The absolute best staff who we adore. Send your kids here, you won't regret it.

Our son is obsessed with all the activities and offerings with GRIT. We have been doing the summer camp and love all the activities they offer. They keep the kids active and have fun all day. The counselors and staff are kind and really take the time to connect. That means so much as a parent, it feels good to know my son is in good hands all day. Love that they offer skateboarding as an activty!! Major plus. đź’›

My wife and I sent our daughter (6 yrs) to Grit the second week it was opened and have not missed a week since. We started out just as campers, but now send her full time, for the remote learning mornings through the afternoon play. I cannot tell you how much my daughter has grown both physically and mentally through the programs at Grit and the instructions there. She has become vastly more confident not only in her physical abilities, but also in how readily she is to face unfamiliar people and challenges. This change has been not only commented on by family members but also friends when we happen to cross paths. Overall I could not give this a higher recommendation regardless of if you are sending your child for a boost to their self confidence, or because it allows both parents to work again.

My kid spent 5 weeks here and he is now, stronger, faster, and more lean, but most importantly, he had so much fun learning new things and meeting new friends. The owner is incredibly polite, knowledgeable, and seems passionate for his work.

My daughter loved GRIT Summer Camp! And I loved seeing her come home tired from a full day of non-stop physical activity. Coach Peyton and his team are always full of energy and its apparent they love what they do!

My son attended summer camp here and while I can certainly say he had a great time, I was actually shocked by the low level of supervision of the children outdoors. We only signed up for a week and on the second day when I went to pick him up I literally saw him and another child walking down the street alone. Had he decided to run off or someone take him, the staff would have had no idea where he was. I decided to give them the benefit of the doubt and returned one more day only to find that this is literally how they run their camps. I asked for my son and it took 3 instructors and many minutes to find him. Insane and worrisome. Yes the place is hip and the kids have fun (theres no rules or structure) but as a parent I dont have peace of mind that my child is actually being taken care of there. Id find other alternatives if I were you.

My kids absolutely love GRIT Sports Training! Coaches and staff are extremely friendly and knowledgeable. Facility is large, very clean and well managed. My kids come home tired and happy, which says it all.
