I went here about I wanna say in October of this year. Upon arrival the staff was nice. The manager/instructor however seemed rude. She seemed annoyed because my daughter was in her grunting phase (grunting while learning her voice) She then told me I should’ve put her in a crawlers class though she couldn’t crawl yet. She would lift up a little but not crawl. She was 7 months so I put her in the younger class (forgot the name) I told her I didn’t put her in crawlers because one time I brought her somewhere she was too young for and it was pointless. I literally had to hold my daughter the whole time in this place other place I brought her. She then made condescending remarks like “ I feel like sometimes we want our kids to do XYZ by this time, if she crawls at 8 months or 9 month no one will remember, doesn’t mean she’ll get into Harvard” like miss what are you talking about. She asked us about our babies. I said my daughters name , I said she’s very talkative, and I hope she walks soon maybe at 8 or 9 months” Not because I want her to be an over achiever. I just want her to be mobile and be able to do more things. Even so why would she say that? She then proceeded to ignore me and my child and then at the end of the class. She told me to go over and play with my daughter while she proceeded to entertain the other parent. I did absolutely nothing to her at all. She seemed angry and miserable and it gave slight racist vibes considering the area it’s in and the fact that she lovveeeddd the white parent and apparently had a weird biased against me and my daughter. Either way I gave it 2 stars because the class was cute had she not instructed it. I personally wouldn’t bring me child their no matter what race you’re. You have to be mindful what type of energy you have around your kids.

they say on the website that 3 and 4 year olds are welcome but some of the people who work here are maddeningly rigid and rude about a kid wanting to play (safely, with their parent right next to them) in any way that is outside of their tightly controlled toddler box. After interacting with the person working there today, my kid literally looked at me, ten minutes into the $35 open play session, and said "I want to go home now." A really disappointing and inconsistent experience.

My daughter has been attending classes at Gymboree for the last year and a half and we have been very pleased with all of them. The art projects are creative and fun, she loves the songs, and she loves the indoor climbing. Strongly recommend.

My daughter loves this place and I am so thankful the Gymboree at the Van Vorst street location/Paulus Hook. Its a perfect place to go on rainy/cold or very hot days. The staff is friendly as well. We took the monthly pass and go daily. The locations is clean and colorful and they change the arrangement every few weeks to keep the kiddos engaged. My daughter loves to explore the various props/setup/interactive play time plus meet other little friends.

I can only talk to my own experience so...YAY for Gymboree! I don't have a billing experience like others have had and I check my credit card statement every month. I have been coming to this Gymboree for two years and have nothing but positive things to say for the people that work there as well as the facility. Like anywhere else there is employee turn around but I genuinely miss the people that move on to other ventures. Luckily they are replaced by equally awesome folks. My son has met friends he looks forward to seeing and I hope my younger son will too as he just started there as well.

Perfect place for parents that choose to not put their toddlers in daycare and want their toddler to experience socialization. Ever since my son began going he's a different kid. More confident, friendly, gets to explore and tire himself out for his naps. I also see it in the other new kids that started out so shy or were crying at the door. And i see them transform into confident playful kids

I wish I could give it more stars but we didn’t get to do anything. I showed up for our trial class, 15 minutes late due to a train delay, yes, but there was nobody there. A little baby crawling on the floor and maybe 3 adults, seemed like friends. Whoever the person was who spoke to me told me to reschedule because I missed 15 minutes and “plus nobody else showed up”. There was still 30 minutes left to the time slot. Nobody was there….there was no class. She just didn’t want to work since there were no paying/enrolled customers, just me and my son on a trial/free class. Glad I didn’t wake him up from his nap for that. So why would I waste my time again so she could decide if she feels like working or not. Yea I’m not coming back, told me all I need to know. Thanks.

I am surprised at the negative reviews though they do seem to be more administrative issues rather than about the program itself. I've personally had no issues with billing or Pooja. The times I've interacted with her she seems like a really genuine person and she gives a lot of flexibility with makeup classes (it's basically an honor system) which I don't think she'd do if she was really trying to gouge people for money. I signed up my first child in 2013 - she is an introvert I think Gymboree helped with her socialization skills and gave her a safe zone to freely roam outside of our apartment. I've now enrolled my second child and I am glad to be back - there's new equipment, it's clean, and the open gyms are a lifesaver when the weather is bad and the kids need to burn off some energy.

My daughter loves Gymboree and I can’t help but sing the songs along when I’m there. The staff and owner are all amazing sweet people that care about the kids in their class. And I can’t rave enough about how much my daughter grows and learns in every class.

Love this place, extremely happy they moved to a more accessible location. We went with our firstborn on Newark Ave from 2016-2018 and now have our newborn here since this opened in April, her mobility progress was fast and we're now already in Crawlers.

Good place for kids. For up to 16 months old kids they have a open gym accessible based on membership. They teach nursery rhymes, help practice kids climb ladders, play in a fun environment. One can take a monthly membership to join. They also have music and art classes for slightly bigger kids.

As a mom of two boys with A LOT of energy, this place is a gift to our community/area. Gymboree is very spacious with constant rotating activity stations, the staff are truly wonderful and kind, and the classes are educational and fun! The owner of the place, Ms. Pooja is really special. She has a no nonsense personality but AMAZING with the kids. I really like her approach to educational fun for the little ones. Also, Ms. Jade- SOOO sweet. The ONLY downside is that they dont have enough classes, I wish they were open with longer hours =)

They say it takes a village to raise a child… and thankfully, the JC Gymboree opened earlier this year, just when I needed it. My village of fellow parents, caregivers and of course, little ones were found. The play areas are awesome, yes. The toys and tunes, absolutely fantastic. All these things you can see, just from looking at the facility. It’s always clean, well-maintained, safe - everything one would expect of a Gymboree. What really makes this place shine is… (drumroll please…) the staff. Hands down the most kindhearted, caring and humorous individuals work at this place! Sincerest thanks to Ms Jade and Ms Melissa for lifting my son up with hugs and smiles at every arrival. To Ms Pooja for leading engaging classes, and to Ms Angie for being so encouraging. You all make this community a better place! My family and I can’t thank you enough.

No coordination, non responsive stuff. There is no management at all. For two weeks I was trying to arrange a birthday party for my son, I stopped by in person (2 times) nobody was able to assist, after several attempts Ms.Jaida (one of the stuff members) took a message and never got back to me. Van Vorst location. Will not go there again and will not recommend.

Wonderful for 1-2 year olds, an indoor play palace with everything just the right size. Linda is especially great at singing and getting kids involved in gym activities. Really pleased with my daughter's experience here.

Classes are good for all age children. The teachers engage very well and care about the children. Location is convenient too.
