Lovely place for nature lovers. If driving from Abu Dhabi, do not trust google maps with the shortest route (through Musaffa) it will literally try to take you off roading in the desert to access the wetland (totally wrong route). For the correct route select the Baniyas one. The main entrance of the wetland is easily accessible from the highway when driving from the direction of Whathba town. Still not the best terrain for a sedan car, but doable with caution. The wetland is beautiful, but the flamingos are only close by during the mornings (8-12 am), in the afternoon they can only be viewed from a far distance. The staff working there are very friendly.

Mesmerizing sound of birds . Place for nature lovers and bird - watchers . I went with kids they enjoyed it too. There is a good walk inside { 3 kms appx } keeping that in consideration carry water, cap , walking shoes , sunscreem. Carry Binoculars . Be empty handed while walking to make the walk easy and fun. There were a lot of birds including flock of flamingos . Beautiful site to see them , their grunting is heard from far. Volunteers at the entrance are helpful , showed the flamingo eggs etc . So kids enjoyed it . After 4. am they do not allow entry. but the reserve is open until 6 . It is for free .

Really wonderful place to visit. There are two roads, one of the long 3 km (my opinion more interesting than the short one), you can see flamingo and the other birds there. There are several wood houses, don't be afraid to enter and open the small window in the house that gives you a pretty cool view. Also, during the walk, you can find different types of plants, flowers, trees. On the other road (which is short 1.5km) you can find lizards, but unfortunately, I didn't see anyone. That is also a cool place to have a rest from the busy city, lovely quiet. Don't forget to wear a hat and take water with you. I asked personnel about timing. It's open from 8 am till 6 pm, last entry at 4 pm. At the end of March, it will be closed for the summer season and will be open in November. Hurry up! Thank you for reading and have a lovely day!

I really liked it here, we were given some good information, and a ride in the car around the wetlands where we got to have a quick tour and sight of the flamingoes and ducks. There is room for improvement, maybe by adding more signs with information in the small center, but I truly loved it and will be visiting again.

Nice walk and good for a change. Flamingos are only visible through window, which is a bummer.

Wish you could open for visitors to witness sunset. And to allow a photo taking section if the place is closed. I was unfortunate to arrive at 430, only to know that last entry is at 4pm.

This place is disappointing & not worth going. There is pretty much nothing to see. The birds are all too far. You need to walk for about 3.2 kms to get the view of flamingoes through observation deck. Also this place has too many flies. Incase you are planning to go with the help of google map please go by the baniyas route & not from musaffah (shortest route) as this route takes you elsewhere

This is an awesome reclamation initiative , a protected environmental site. It's got the pinkest flamingos, lost of birds and two walking trails. The best place to chill, breath in some fresh clean air and relax.

Beautiful place for a long walk with beautiful views. The flamingos are so beautiful! I prefer going early morning, so there wouldn't be much sun but during daytime it's also fine.

Al Wathba Wetland Reserve is one of the most fascinating tourist spots in the UAE. This mix of natural and man-made island bodies provides a safe haven for migratory birds. Thanks to the efforts of the UAE government, these beautiful creatures can find a home at places like the Al Wathba Wetland Reserve. The reserve offers protection and proves that if the authorities act decisively, it can make things better. This model can be followed around the world to work on conservation and preservation of endangered species and natural reseerve. Al Wathba offers something unique. The very simplistic beauty of the place can help you connect with nature and watching such exotic birds is sure to be a surreal experience. Located around 50 km away from mainland Abu Dhabi, this area is divided into sabkhas (salt flats), fossilised sands and dunes. Moreover, it is internationally recognised as one of the 2,000 remaining wetlands in the world. In 2018, it was placed on the IUCN Green List of Protected and Conserved Areas. A 3.5 kms well marked track (Flamingo trail) takes you back and close to nature go for a morning or a evening walk at a slow pace u may take an hour and at a fast pace a half an hour in completing ur walk but a well versed experience. There is a 1.5 kms track (Dhab trail) as well though not recommended. Go through my pictures to understand my experience! A must go place in Abu Dhabi!

If you are looking for a relaxing nature walk with a bit of bird watching, this place will surely be for you. We tried the flamingo trail which is approximately more than 3 kms. We completed the trail in about 1 hour and 30mins but for others they might be able finish it in 45mins. Resting is more important to us, we’re not running on a marathon anyways. Al Wathba Wetland Reserve is open from 8am to 4pm daily except monday. They are only open during winter season and close during summer.

It's a very big lake, wetland reserve, the birds visit here in winter season. It's nice here in morning. Make sure you visit in time. Check out my pictures for timings. First time I went in evening and it was closed. There is also a vaccination center for covid vaccine. Enjoy walk and nature.

Currently it's close. If you want to see you are supposed to walk 3 to 5 km and post reaching the flimmigo view spot you can only view from far and flimmigos will not be visible, I asked the security person to send some photos which he have taken . Best time to visit this place is 8 Am to 10 Am. Our family visited around 12 pm to 1 pm hence we faced an issue of not viewing.

Out of the world experience. Completely Natural. There are two walking trails; the shorter one is about 2 km and the longer one is about 3.5 km. The longer walking path provides a good amount of physical activity for the family.

Very poor updates the environment website provides, we went there trusting that its open according to there website but when we reached to the location the security guard told us it is closed and won't open until December. Drove more then 200 kilometers for nothing.

A must visit place if you are a nature lover. You have the option of walking through the reserve (approx 45 minute walk) which is a great experience. There is a separate viewing area for viewing flamingos and other birds. A wonderful experience overall.
