Amazing landscape, quiet and relaxing environment just 5 miles far from Edinburgh. Two wonderful reservoirs surrounded by trees and fields very well maintained. Fantastic choice for walking, cycling and trekking . Ideal location for families with children and dogs. A car park is available and chemical toilets including one for disabled people. Laying down and listening to the sound of nature is priceless. I recommend a visit and before leaving ,please give some coins as donation.

Lovely place to walk away from the city. Takes about 45 minutes to walk round, ideal for pushchairs etc. Parking nearby, café sometimes open. Fishing passes available. Can be very busy on nice days.

This is an easy walk round harlaw or if you want to make it longer take in threipmuir reservoir as well -great place for families to walk cycle horse ride and heaven for dogs - certain times of the year there is sheep in fields so dog walkers please respect the animals and make sure dogs are under control -stunning views over the pentlands there is parking and toilet facilities - the walk is also okay for wheelchair users although wheels may get muddy at times

Harlaw Reservoir situated near Balerno is very popular with cyclist's, dog walkers and is ideal for picnicking and wild camping , Also a fantastic place for fly fishermen with daily permits available. Via Harlaw you can access walkways into the Pentland Hills . A great day out weather permitting.

Been here on multiple occasions for a walk. It's a great spot for a picnic. Loads of people camp and for most part take their rubbish with them. Lots of dog walkers, horses and cyclists. Kids love jumping across all the old fallen trees and dipping their toes in the water. One of my favourite areas in Edinburgh. Two car parks that can be used for here and threipmuir Reservoir. Does get rather busy. There is also portable toilets.

A nice walk around a couple of dams. A bit of forest, a bit of path, very peaceful. Parking close by. Reasonable safe for small children assuming you take normal precautions. Toilets also available on site. Apparently they also get free campers during the summer.

Was very nice. Went for a wander and some camping. Very nice, good weather for it too. Only gripe is the car park is very small for how busy it is.

Great place for walking, cycling, fishing, swimming, cycling and camping! Not too far from Balerno so can get the 44 and walk 30 minutes up there Lots of wildlife as well! It can get very busy on sunny days, but going further away from the entrance you can find quieter spots There are loads of hiking trails going into the Pentlands to the other reservoirs
