What a great experience! Steam engine ride for two hours with a fish and chip dinner served on board can't be bad. All the "staff" are unpaid volunteers. The time on the train is 2 hours. If you want a drink from the train bar go early to beat the queue. After that just sit back and enjoy. Very relaxed, happy to let you have pictures in the engine etc. Highly recommended.

Firstly I’d like to say, every staff/volunteer makes you feel number 1 there. 3 of us had the stone baked pizza & each of us said it was great & just the right size. The guy serving in the cafe was very polite & cleaned our table too. I’d recommend that place even if you don’t take a train ride. I was surprised that this live wasn’t packed for tourists on a bank holiday Monday (maybe they all did the morning train, we did the last steam train). It was a beautiful 1959 polish steam engine. There seems to be a lovely change over every so often of steam engines. This place is also dog friendly. Thank you to everyone there. Recommend 100% & hopefully will return. Please support this steam line.

My son & I had a lovely time on the 92 Squadron steam train, in comfort of 1st class seating. We even had the pleasure of listening to some people singing Christmas Carol's while on the train. Which lasted 75 minutes travelling along the beautiful Nene Valley, through picturesque landscape of water Meadows, arable farmland & country park.

A beutifull location with a very deep proud history of the train station and trains. The facilities are very good with a nice cafe, very suprised for such a rural location. There is also places to sit by the river and have a picnic. On top of that a great area for rambling with public footpaths through the fields.

Fantastic day out for the whole family. We bought a Family Rover ticket for £55, which covers 2 adults, and 3 children. Various stops to hop off and have a walk, a picnic, or just admire the scenery. We chose to get off at Peterborough, and had a lovely afternoon at the cathedral, and shopping (which pleased my 16yo with Christmas money burning a hole in her pocket!). The buffet car sells teas, coffees, hot chocolate, and various snacks at reasonable prices. Staff are really knowlegeable about the trains, and goings-on, and are really friendly. Would definitely recommend.

Xmas eve Santa Special. The best £25 per person we've spent at Christmas. Elves and Santa all over the train and before hand , amazing present given in Santa's groto. NVR do such an amazing job at Christmas. 5 stars out of 5 . ✌️

Nene Valley Railway 🚂🚃🚃. Children loved the Christmas Special, Santa, Elves, etc. The Santa Special Steam Train Journey was a great experience, with the afternoon tea on board. Lots of steam filling the air. Most off this set up is reliant on volunteers, who keep this place alive, so although the tickets may sound a lot, the funds go towards the great expense of running the railway and restoration of everything from trains to museum artifacts.

We are on holiday and the four of us went on the train yesterday the whole experience was amazing. There was so many different engines and trucks to look at , plenty of volunteers with years of knowledge to answer your questions . There is a lovely cafe at the station. There is also a bar on the train so you can have a cold or hot drink. We saw school children enjoying the day, and asking their teachers lot's of interesting questions . All the volunteers were very friendly and helpful 🙂

Surprise trip. Train bit late at start but not much of a problem as we all went for hot drink and snack in cafe. Great photo opportunities. I would advise all visitors to go up and see where the hard work is done. Amazing work shop.

Incredible experience, my train mad son loved the steam engine! Unfortunately the steam engine had a fault so we have to wait 1hour+ to go to the next stop which by then was too late to go to other stops too. The replaced the steam engine with diesel which wasn't as exciting as steam but things happen. Really friendly staff too.

A fantastic heritage railway with friendly staff and interesting locomotives. What I would say is surprisingly, they only have 1 rake of 6 coaches which are in regular use, so they can't run a 2-train service unless that rake is split. All locomotives seemed to be well looked after and very clean.

We have visited many of these steam railways and this has been one of the best. The buildings are so lovingly maintained, as are the trains and supplementary rolling stock - we loved the restored freight train along the tracks! So many places we visit have wagons and locos simply rotting at the side of the tracks, it was lovely to see the opposite done here. The train ride itself was lovely, so many changing vistas through our window - fields growing potatoes, sweetcorn and other crops, rivers, ponds, canals and canal boats, golf courses and lots of fluffy sheep. We broke our journey at the café and enjoyed a lovely lunch in the conservatory area. The apple tart was awesome! All in all a thoroughly enjoyable day. Highly recommended.

Remember this place from my childhood, and on a whim decided to take my 6 y/o on a last minute visit.. to say he loved it was an understatement. An amazing mix of information, static trains to see (and some to climb aboard) and watching the trains come and go made his day.. waiting for the weather to change so they can run steamies again as that's his next request to see. Definitely worth a visit again

A family afternoon treat with fish & chips on the train. Great service from all staff, who were friendly, helpful & genuinely happy to be there. Fish & chips were great too. Totally recommend this especially to families. Parking was a little tricky though so allow for time to park before you get on the train. Shops also worth a look, charity shop has good quality things in.

Nene Valley Railway is a great day out there is lots to do and great value, in fact you can walk round the station and yard totally free of charge. Staff are very friendly and full of information regarding the railway, Train rides are very reasonable price wise. There is a great cafe and gift shop, also for train collectors there is a small shop selling everything from toy trains to railway signs plus charity shop. I took my kids there with no money in my pocket and we had a great time.

👍👍 My first visit here with family. Quite busy, but plenty of parking. The shopping area was well laid out, with a wide range of gifts, greetings cards etc. The plants outside looked to be well cared for. Tea and cake in the café rounded off a pleasant afternoon. We will return.
