Such a brilliant bouldering wall, absolutely loved the atmosphere, music and staff which all created the perfect backdrop to an afternoon of climbing. The routes were varied, plenty of different styles and holds to try for all levels. Excellent find!

Performed some route setting at this centre prior to them opening. The space, wall build and hold selection are fantastic, and the ethos of Freeklime being accessible and inclusive is a much needed attitude in the climbing and bouldering world. The owner, Chris and manager of the York Centre, Max, are both extremely helpful knowledgeable and friendly. Freeklime York is shaping up to be an amazing place to climb, meet new friends and most importantly, have fun!

Brilliant - visited today for my first experience of bouldering and loved it. Chris was really enthusiastic and helpful and got us started with some great tips. Some of the green climbs are nice and straightforward so as a first timer you can build confidence and get a sense of achievement really early on. Friendly atmosphere so it's not intimidating at all to give it a go. The kids wall looks brilliant and I'm looking forward to taking my sons to the lil freeks and mini freeks class. Great addition to the area and I think it'll become something we enjoy doing together as a family.

This place is great, offers some nice variety in setting types alongside some really cool wall shapes. On top of that the staff are super nice and love chatting and talking about the climbs which creates a good atmosphere. Would absolutely recommend a visit!

I'm 66 years old and came to Freeklime (love the name!)with my daughter. It was my first time climbing and I LOVED it! Chris explained things to us, gave us tight fitting footwear, which is essential, did some demos, then left us to explore. He kept checking back with us and offered words of encouragement and advice. He was great. The level of difficulty is easy to follow because all the hand and foot holds are colour coded. I stuck with green and yellow because they were easier. We loved watching some experienced climbers achieve what looked like impossible manoeuvres. I'll definitely return.

Visited today with my best friend and found the vibe to be brill, good tunes, very spacious walls! Holds are all firm and great quality - walls themselves are also very grippy too. I want to highlight the managing director Chris who was super friendly and welcoming as I had never been before! THANK YOU and we will be coming back :)

The staff here are super lovely! The layout is well planned out, lots of climbing to do with many interesting features. The routesetting is also very exciting as it blends comp style as well as outdoor style climbs. Definetly the place to climb in york! They also have a training board so if you're looking to have fun and get strong, freeklime is the place to be!

A cracking, modern bouldering wall. Loads of cool angles, great holds, and the best board for miles around. Really friendly staff and great coffee too. Will definitely be going back.

I regularly go to the Freeklime in Huddersfield and can say that they have really outdone themselves with this new location. The walls are really diverse for anyone to enjoy with a lot more unique problems and as usual the staff are incredibly friendly and engaging. Good luck with the new location. - Richard and George.

If you're a climbing enthusiast seeking a top-notch indoor bouldering gym, or a newbie looking for a safe space to get stuck into, look no further than Freeklime York. PS, Chris is awesome, great person and even better service. So enthusiastic it's hard not to want to climb here!

Good variety of boulder problems and some interesting holds I've not encountered before. The gym is actually a lot bigger than I was expecting, which made it feel less crowded. Shame the refreshments available are limited. The coffee is from a vending machine, but was actually really nice. Super friendly staff on arrival. Great place!

Great climbing centre with a lot of interesting problems. Also have occasional yoga sessions which are great (need to book). Staff are friendly and knowledgeable and always help me with the coffee machine (despite the instructions taped to it 🤦‍♂️😀)

I absolutely love it here, has quickly become the highlight of my weekend every week! Chill atmosphere, nice grippy holds, so many interesting problems to solve, friendly staff, and 10/10 amazing music playlist. Also LOVE the Griptonite app which is fab for tracking progress, making it feel like a game / competition with yourself and for finding the perfect problems to match your ability! Just loses a star as the toilets could use a touch more TLC - just a little bit dusty + water streaked paintwork. Still overall fabulous though!

Fantastic climbing gym, I'm only a V0-V2 climber (font 3-5+) but there's plenty for every grade, my partner (7a+ climber) and I can spend all day there and not get bored. Lovely staff, well set climbs, super chill friendly vibe too. I only wish they had some comfy chairs/sofas to chill in after a climb as we'd happily stay longer for a decompress! (They also do incredible brownies!)

I know nothing about climbing so I can't give an informed view of the standard. Booked for sons 14th birthday. I was expecting the easiest climbs to be easier. The staff were friendly and helpful and the overall experience relaxed and pleasant. You can get coffee, soft drinks and snacks too

First visit this summer holiday. Booked my 7 year old In for a Sunday morning lesson with “Rob”. Initial nerves were an issue but Rob soon had him relaxed, happy and enjoying various games & challenges. Really very clever set out lesson with my son learning and gaining confidence without even realising. On a personal level Rob was fantastic with my son, patient but firm, encouraging and helpful with him. Based on Rob alone for this I wanted to give a shout out and leave a review. Thanks Again

A great place for bouldering. I took my 7 year old daughter and she thoroughly enjoyed the kids wall. The staff were super friendly and enthusiastic, and gave a great induction.

My partner and I visited here for the first time today and we both loved it. The staff were super friendly (thank you to Lucy), the music was great and the route setting is absolutely brilliant at all levels, they’ve really thought about how to make every problem enjoyable. The atmosphere generally was super friendly and welcoming and as relative newcomers to climbing we really appreciate that. We have climbed at other gyms in hull and york but you guys have gone straight to our number 1 spot, so thank you and we’re already looking forward to coming back!

The whole set up works, but what really stood out to me was how attentive the staff were to my 6 year old. Not only did they rebuild her confidence in climbing again, but they didn't miss an opportunity to positively reinforce when she was safely walking around.

Went for the first time today, kids thoroughly enjoyed it,(although their looks were deceiving lol)spent a good 2 hours there. Drinks and snacks are reasonably priced. Was nice to see free sanitary products in the toilet. All staff were very friendly and helpful. Would definitely recommend

The Freeklime team are so friendly and welcoming. As a mum who hasn't got a clue bringing a relatively experienced 13 year old, they have been incredibly helpful. There's such a nice atmosphere and the other climbers are chatty and friendly too. I might even come back on my own!
