A very enjoyable dinner! Food was delicious with excellent presentation. Main courses are inspired by South African BBQ cooking. Nice casual dining environment. Have sampled some of the top rated restaurants in the Sheffield area while visiting this past 4 years. Orange Bird is probably the best restaurant that I have tried so far. Thank you to the management for getting us a table at short notice.

Amazing experience! Great food, great service, a luxury experience without a luxury price. Also, can we talk about the decor? Unique, cute, and detailed!Definitely worth a try, you will end up going back. Already on my second visit (and planning the third), I found myself having favourites. You need to try the olive oil ice-cream, the malted milk ice-cream, the beer crackers + feta cream, the duck leg and the BBQ pork. Basically you need to try everything, but these ones I wouldn't mind eating every day! New favourite fancy dinner spot!

Fantastic food. Loved the sides and particularly the braii cabbage. Interesting menu and we really enjoyed trying some new dishes. Loved how fresh and home cooked everything was.

Wow. If only one word needed, that's it. We found this place based on their 5* reviews (a feat in itself) and drove the 50-min to check them out. Yep - totally legit. Every dish that came out was superb. I'm a little...no a lot, bummed they are not closer as I would frequent this establishment all the time. I definitely want to go back and try other dishes - but these are what we had: Warm mosbolletjies, Blue cheese boerewors, Caramelised aubergine, Watermelon salad, and Hot cauliflower (mains) and Miso malva pudding (omg, the brown butter ice cream!!) and OB Peppermint crisp tart (desserts).

If I could give it 6 stars I would! I had the Fire Roasted Squash on toast and it was amazing, service was lovely as is the whole atmosphere. I’m excited to come back and try more dishes!

Came here for our anniversary dinner. This is definitely a niche gem for the foodies! Friendly customer service and low-lit edgy atmosphere. Since this place offers seasonal dishes at the time, I can’t speak for future dishes, but all the items we ordered were delicious and well through out. This is a small place so I definitely recommend booking ahead.

Literally the best food we’ve had out in the last year. Beautifully presented and full of flavours. Front of house staff were lovely. We will definitely be back.

Great atmosphere for 6 of us to eat, love the lights. Ordered everything in the menu plus two portions of sides between us and enjoyed it all. Vegetables particularly good especially aubergine. £33 per person with drinks and tip. Accommodates very well for friend with nut allergy.

I took my parents here to celebrate my Mum's birthday and we thoroughly enjoyed our meal. My Mum even said it was the best meal out she'd had in a long time, and I'd have to agree. The dishes were interesting, well presented & prepared, and most importantly, delicious. The restaurant has a great atmosphere, and despite the open kitchen, it wasn't noisy or chaotic at all. I also appreciated the focused menu; Endless choice is never a good sign. I much prefer restaurants that specialise in a handful of excellent dishes, which I can confirm is the case here. Very glad to have this restaurant nearby.

The food is amazing! Really high-quality ingredients cooked with passion. The restaurant it's self has a great vibe too.

Marvelous open-kitchen, independently-owned restaurant that I visited with a friend who traveled all the way from Leeds. Incandescent street-food vibes, yet still cosy and unpretentious. We were both blown away at the kaleidoscope of flavours and textures - creamy burrata with savoury chakalaka relish, smooth-as-velvet white bean hummus with crispy onions and dill, a small tiffin of chickpea and kale in a rich spiced sauce. I would have liked the mosbolletjies warmed up but they were very hearty; the spices made them unique and rather different from a brioche. Not a fan of watermelon but my friend loved the watermelon salad! Friendly staff, and a varied range of culinary books are available for browsing. Not too pricey either when drinks are included!

Absolutely loved the menu, relaxed and warm atmosphere, especially on a wintry Thursday night. The team were very flexible when my friend was late. Just a lovely place with lovely people.

🔥🇿🇦Walking into this restaurant the beautiful smell of cooking on fire hits you and you instantly know this place is going to be great. Matt, the chef grew up in South Africa, and the food is heavily inspired by this, meaning that many things are of course cooked on the braai. 💕Anne who greets us, has bothered to memorise our names. The interior has a warm glow and you feel as if you are being welcomed into their home as an expected guest. The food matches expectations and more. It is uncomplicated, and made with the best ingredients that let the flavours of the produce and the open fire cooking shine. To start; 🍞 The bread is mosbolletjies , slightly sweet, very fresh, and served with rosary butter. 🧀🍊The Burrata is huge and extremely creamy, topped with toasted coriander seed- a match made in heaven, served with a fresh chicory, blood orange, and rhubarb salad- perfect harmony. 🍺🍸We also order a beer and a cape spritz which is delicious and perfectly balanced. For mains; 🌭🧅Homemade Boerewors with smoked pork belly, whipped bone marrow pap, burnt onion & pomegranate molasses. The sausage is extremely rich in flavour and was delicious with the charred onion and delicate accompaniment of the pap. 🔥🥩🍚Barnsley chops chutney. A generous thick steak of lamb, that's very tender, slightly pink but with all the flavour of the braai. Served with a refreshing spiced tomato sauce underneath, and saffron rice with raisins. Totally delicious. 🍮Miso malva pudding, with stout ice cream and caramel sauce is to die for. I can normally take or leave a pudding but it included @thornbridge cocoa wonderland beer. Hot delicate sponge with crisp burnt edges on the sponge contrasted against the rich stout ice-cream and caramel sauce and was to die for. 🍷I also had the most delicious glass of Shiraz to wash it down- the South Africans really do make the best red wine. Conclusion? This place just jumped to our top spot for Sheffield, and made my birthday very special. Thank you @theorangebirdcanteen 🧡 We will be back soon. Note that menus change often. Wonderful food and excellent service. We love the atmosphere and quality of the food. Sharing means we get to try lots of new flavours. Aubergine and malva pudding the highlight (we always leave room for the malva).
