It’s hard to find any decent mountain bike areas in the Midlands even if you’re a beginner or looking for something more technical. I’ve been to Cannock Chase for a number of years and the trails just keep getting better and better with every visit. I’ve heard Stile Cop is the place to go but I am yet to try this out. The extended red run is challenging in parts and contains lots of climbs so make sure your bike is ready to cope with terrain and the incline.

Great trails for beginners and intermediates. Cannock generally quite flat, but the trail builders have made good use of the elevation.

Superb mountain biking for all skill levels but be advised, if taking on Follow the dog or the Monkey trails, can be quite challenging not only on you but your bike as well! But do not be put off, plenty of easier, blue family routes available. Love this place, highly recommend ☺

Keeps you interested pretty much all the way round. Love riding it along with the MT, think it would be too short without combining the two trails. No problems on my HT with 100mm suspension.

Great trail to start off with for novice to intermediate mountain bikers. Some lovely trails, with optional challenging sections if you fancy them. Totalling around 7 miles it's a great workout and has some challenging hills and downhill sections. Trails are also free to use so all you need to pay is for parking (it's only £4, so please don't try to avoid this as it's the only way the trails are maintained!). Well worth a visit!

Very good 'proper' MTB trail. Easier of the two Red graded trails on Cannock Chase, and more cross-country in nature than the bigger descents on the Monkey Trail (significantly more demanding). Good flowy sections, and the end sections from 'Son of Chainslapper' are very good. Better if you can combine with the Monkey Trail for a full loop. Note: does need decent bike, gear, fitness and skills, not ideal for a family amble.

Fantastic mountain bike trail with plenty of technical sections, smooth flowing sections, berms, dropoffs, and so on. A mixture of both contractor-built and hand-built trails, so you'll get both the smooth wide open trails and the fantastic tight twisty hand-built stuff. Ideal for a quick lap, or link it up with the Monkey and/or do a few laps for a longer ride!

Great trails that start and finish at the same place. Parking which does cost but it's reasonable, toilets, café and bike shop where you can also hire a decent bike to take around the trails.
