A lovely baby castle, or at least it felt that way. We ambled along a well made up path from parking further down the road, over some wooden bridges, through a wood full of spring flowers, rabbits, and birdsong. We didn't see another soul. The castle is a tiny stone built thing on a big motte with an impressive ditch. Four tiny towers and connecting walls. It's a bit of an ascent to the top of the motte but not very hard work.

There is a beautiful, well marked woodland walk from the coast of the Menai Straits to this castle, an original Norman Moated Motte, on which was later built a stone folly. With birdsong all around, and a moat dotted with flowers, it is hugely atmospheric ( and free!)

You park your car at the nearby beach carpark and have a walk to the castle. Beautiful sky and footpath. Enjoy.

Free Beachside carpark Approximately 10ish minutes walk to the castle ruins, through lovely woodland and on a lot of boardwalks, well maintained (not slippery)

Great little walk (if you're coming from the beach parking it might be boggy!) through a nice forest with wildlife and birds all around. The castle itself is small but interesting. This is a great "bonus" stop if you're out and about around Beaumaris and/or Penmon!

This is located within a stunning small nature reserve in the village of Llagoed. It was a great walk for dogs but also a good little ramble exploring the woods nearby full of young oak. Great place to lose yourself and doscover the ruins of the castle. There is no fee to visit. it's a ruin at the end of a walk through a nature reserve. Enjoy!

Fascinating bit of history, good information board and only one place where it would be possible to miss the trail. Where it forks, and their is a boardwalk to the right...thats the way...not the straight on metalled track. Obviously an incredibly dependable site.

Nice walk up to the castle with the dog and information board on its history at the foot of the stairs made for an interesting read. It is an old small ruin and there isn't much there but one to definitely do on the way to or from PenmΓ΄n. I'd suggest parking at the beach then to take in the Menai straits too.

The ruins of a motte and bailey castle set in a woodland. A great example of a motte and bailey with a stone keep of you're looking for an example to show how hard to attack they were. Not much left of the keep though although it's been well preserved.

Lovely walk into woodland and a lovely little castle nestled in the trees, up a rather steep Bank (with steps of course). Impressive for its build date and definitely worth a walk in the sun or drizzle! Parking is awkward nearby... there's a layby not too far and some beach parking also, park there and walk in!

This visit isn't just about the remains of the castle, its also the scenery on the way to it. The unusual tree Formations, the knarley tree trunks of the older trees, unique paths enroute, including the bridges over the stream. This is a very enjoyable & leisurely walk.

πŸ‘πŸ‘ Not the grand location or structure that crusius abbey is but just as interesting. There's parking nearby that's free but I can imagine it gets busy
