I had Intraocular lens implants and also corrective laser surgery (after the implants) for fine tuning. My husband who is an optician has always held James Ball in very high regard and so when I started my journey insisted that I pay Custom Vision Clinic a visit. I cannot recommend James and the team highly enough. I had a very high myopic prescription and actually went in for lens replacement. Mr Ball, however, instead of pushing this more expensive surgery, asked that I consider lens implants instead. Since my prescription was so high the risk factor associated with lens replacement was too high and he said the safer option at my age (46 when treatment began) would be lens implants. My main aim was to be glasses and contact lens free so the replacement didn’t sound like it would be a good fit for me. However, after a lengthy discussion about how my prescription would be ‘set’ to make me glasses free I was convinced that this was something I wanted to go ahead with. Each eye surgery was done separately and I was extremely nervous (who wouldn’t be) but Mr Ball and the team were incredibly patient and attentive and answered every single one of my 5,000,000 questions with care and compassion. I am now over a year down the line after surgery and a few months after the laser treatment and I could not be happier. I am 95% glasses free and only need to pick up my reading glasses for prolonged activities requiring them but for the rest of the time I don’t need them at all. Prior to surgery I had a pair of reading glasses in every single room of the house I simply could not read a thing without them, whereas now, I can type this review without using them at all. My distance vision is also excellent I can’t remember a time where I could see any better even with my contact lenses in. It’s a scary step to take I know and I can honestly say that if I had to go through this all over again (I will when I eventually need cataract surgery) James is the only person I would ever consider.

First rate treatment, and an amazing result from bilateral cataract surgery! The surgery itself was totally painless, easy for me, and so quick. Mr Ball and the team were all very calm, efficient, and friendly, so I'm delighted that I chose to go to them.

I had a very good consultation with Mr James Ball and decided to proceed with the lens replacement surgery. The surgery itself was very well explained from start to finish and Mr Ball explained everything that he was doing as he did it. 4 days after my LASIK surgery on both eyes and its without a doubt the best decision I’ve ever made. If you reading these reviews wanting to know if it hurts or if you can feel anything the answer is no, you cant feel a thing! Did a lot of research before I chose James Ball. I felt in safe hands and 3 months on from new lenses, I’m thrilled. I really is like magic.I can drive at night without anxiety (I live in an area without street lights) and even though it took a while for my middle distance to correct itself and my eyes to stop feeling dry, I haven’t regretted it for a second.

After suffering with inflammation for 6 years, and being prescribed steroid drops, my cataract in both eyes got significantly worse. Being told I have to wait on the NHS as this would require a specialist, which was not available was extremely distressing. I could not recommend Mr James Ball enough! The confidence and care both my eye operations were carried out with was amazing. Both operations have been life changing. The after care was brilliant, and I have never had such perfect vision. I had refractive lens replacement implants in April 2022. After wearing high prescription glasses and gas permeable contact lenses sometimes with readers over the top for small print for 41years. I am amazed at the sight i have now as I can actually see better now than I could with glasses or lenses. I would highly recommend having surgery at custom vision clinic the team are fantastic and Mr James Ball is just simply amazing he explained everything so well from my consultation and throughout my surgery. My surgery was pain free and only took eight minutes per eye he truly is amazing I can’t thank James and his team enough.

I am absolutely thrilled with the results, as is my husband who had the same procedure a couple of months earlier. In spite of my initial reservations, the reassurances I’d been given that there would be no pain were absolutely correct. The procedure itself was very swift and James talked me through the whole thing and I came out wondering why I had been so anxious. I received recommendations for Custom Vision and they have absolutely exceeded my expectations. Before surgery, my eyesight was poor and I needed glasses for almost everything. Custom Vision were quick to book me in and the initial consultation was very informative. With clear pricing and insights into the possible experience and outcomes. I met with Mr Ball, the surgeon, before any procedures. This was reassuring and definitely helped in building my confidence ahead of the surgery. From the initial consultation, through to the surgery and post operative care, Mr Ball and his team have been exceptional. This was my first ever surgery so I was somewhat hesitant in the lead up to my first appointment. However, Mr Ball put me at ease and answered the myriad of questions that I had before I decided to proceed. The procedure itself was very straightforward and my vision was perfect the next day.
