We had the best food we have had all holiday here tonight. Everything home made, including the tomato relish served with the runny scotch egg special starter. The steak pie has every right to claim that it is famous, it is incredible, the menu says a 3 generation old recipe, well please don't change it, it's delicious. The chips are lovely and you actually get real vegetables, fresh, not soggy awfulness as you so often do in these types of places. Plus a huge jug of proper thick real meat gravy. What a treat. Service was exemplary and friendly, they found space for 4 of us with our 2 dogs. That's something else too, the tables are decent sized, not cramped in, which is another common complaint of mine in eateries recently, but not here, there's plenty of room (good job as the portions are pretty big too). We have changed our plans now and intend to go back and try some other food before we go home, as it was really that good. Don't miss out, eat here if you want a great meal.

The Railway Inn is a very popular traditional country pub. There is a good choice of beers and lager including two hand pulled cask conditioned real ales. It serves excellent meals, the home made pie served with proper chips is my favourite, there is a wide choice on the menu including curry and a fantastic mixed grill. The service is excellent and the pub is dog friendly except Sunday. There is outside seating and a large car park. A great pub for a meal or a beer.

Another fabulous Sunday lunch, I didn’t fancy the full Sunday roast today so decided on the curry from the the special list and wow what a choice it was. I enjoyed every mouthful right from the first to the last, it was cooked to perfection as always and delivered to the table in good time with the care and respect the dish demanded. The staff are always welcoming, friendly, attentive and really want to make your visit as pleasant as they can. If you are looking for a lovely afternoon out with great food, great service in lovely surroundings then make the Railway Inn your next stop

Great food, great service and great value for money. First starting coming with my grandparents decades ago, and now enjoy continuing that traditional with family and partners. Online booking has been a great addition. Removes the anxiety by knowing you’ll always have a table even when it’s busy.

Had a great family meal we had the traditional steak and ale pie others had Fish &Chips and lasagne. All food is cooked to order so there is a wait when busy. We had an issue with the lasagne, but the staff were really happy to change it and we were not waiting long for the replacement. All family members thoroughly enjoyed their meal and will be back soon no doubt

I don’t normally right reviews or complain but me & my partner came here and ordered 2 steaks. We asked for medium rare and when they arrived we couldn’t even eat into them. The steak was extremely tough & chewy. We didn’t want to cause a fuss so we asked for it to be boxed so we could leave. Disappointed as it was an anniversary meal with my partner.

Was given gift voucher for birthday for 1st visit. Made to feel very welcome , food excellent, Have since made it a regular place to go for a nice lunch or dinner. Have taken friends and family who have returned themselves. Very good food, friendly helpful staff, good mix on menu plus specials . Will continue to use every week.

Our table was booked for 7 15pm and it was 8 50 when our meal arrived at the table. We have had some lovely meals and service at the Railway on previous visits but I am sorry to say this wasn't the case this time. The food was bland and the chips soggy and the gravy tasted greasy. It's put us off coming again but hopefully it's been a one off. Had it been mega busy we could have understood but it wasn't.

Room clean had all you need hair dryer straighteners curlers dressing gown tea and coffee TV etc. field view. Food in the pub itself was not the cheapest but still reasonable and portion sizes was more than enough me and my husband shared a starter, main each and shared desert was more than satisfied. There was a 40 min wait for food but was worth the wait. Location is ok if you drive if not it's public transport to the main town.

This is a lovely rural village pub with delicious food. Brilliant steak pie, homemade & always spot on! Prices are very reasonable & it has a nice friendly & welcoming atmosphere. Never stayed there, as live local.

What an amazing place! Went here for lunch with my wife and mother. We received a friendly greeting on arrival by the two young ladies on shift and told to pick any table. Drinks orders were taken at the table and arrived quickly, served in crystal glasses. Between us we ordered the pie of the day (steak and black pudding cooked in Guinness), lasagne with garlic bread and a side of chips and a lovely creamy curry. The portions were large, cooked to perfection and amazingly tasty. We all agreed this was one of the best pub lunches we had ever eaten.

1st class service, we booked a table for Sunday lunch, choice of 3 meats, or option to have all 3! We were well looked after, attentive staff, fantastic food, huge portions! And an excellent homemade yorkshire pud! Highly recommended
