Small tight road leading to a small parking area off the road. Short walk through the woods to the entrance to the castle. Not a great walking surface for some. Looks like it was a while since much has been spent on this castle from Cadw as the stairs etc have seen better days. Great views through the valley but could do with more info about the castle and the layout if known inside the castle.

What an amazing place. Set in one of the most beautiful valleys in Wales this castle is a must. Keep an eye on young children as there are lots of drops with no barriers. Very rewarding for the photographers, I:m not sure one could take a bad picture here.

Formerly important castle now an isolated ruin accessed via a steep, rough path and then wooden steps. Free to enter and wander around. I had the entire place to myself for a while on a weekday afternoon in May. Car park has space for maybe half a dozen cars, reached along narrow country lanes.

Located in a quiet and lovely setting. Must be a haven for history and architecture admirers. Parking is very limited. Only 5/7 mins walk from the carpark with low difficulty. However scoping the ruins is a medium level difficulty.

A fantastic ruin in an amazing setting. The castle walls aren't particularly high anymore but it is still fairly extensive and you can get an idea of what the castle would have been like. What really makes it so good is it's setting. The castle is in the middle of a large sweeping valley and it's prominent position still gives great views up and down the valley today. Parking is a little limited but free and although the roads are small and winding to get here, it's well worth a little adventure to visit Castell y Bere.

Wild and beautiful location. A few people here and only a small car park but it is a remote location so unlikely to be crowded. Decent path up to the castle but it would be tricky with a buggy or toddlers

Can't remember last time I've visited an monument with no other visitors. We were the only ones in a few miles. Free of charge and amazing castle ruins.

Lovely castle ruins to explore by agile. Small car park then gentle uphill track. Ruins have stone steps within it to tower sections and grass slopes which could get slippery if wet. No hand rails within suin. Some great places there to picnic on the grass or rock and stunning views. Recommended visit.

A true Welsh (not English!) castle ruin. It has an amazing view over the green pastures in the valley. It has a parking lot for maybe 7 or 8 cars in front (no charge) and there is also no entry fee. Not accessible for people in wheelchairs. First there is a relatively narrow path to the ruin, then some steep slopes and lastly wooden stairs.

Picturesque ruins on a rocky outcrop overlooking the valley. Stunning views. When passing through the second gate there are three paths, the one to the left goes round to the steps leading into the castle. Not sure why a closing time is specified on the sign in the car park as it isn't manned and nothing is locked. Would recommend a visit.

Castell y Bere is a short and reasonably easy walk up from a small car park. The castle ruins are quite extensive and fun to explore. Entrance is free, so please help look after this site and take any rubbish away again. Enjoy the atmosphere of this special place.

Lovely ruins, small parking that was rocky so not ideal for low cars. Walk was short but path well. Views were great especially if you can get a clear day.

Impressive ruin in a spectacular location. Certainly worth a visit. Don't be put off by the long winded way to get to the castle entrance. It's worth the walk.

A long way off the beaten track! Unmanned by CADW as expected. Total ruin but emotive thinking about it's history. Would I visit again? No, but it was worth the climb. Tickets not required.
