We stayed here last summer and it was lovely. However, having booked again for us and disabled family, our bookings were abruptly cancelled because they’ve decided to chase bigger money event clients. (Or some such barely legible nonsense) Really unreliable, greedy and unprofessional. Honestly, they don’t deserve the 5* review I left last time. Good luck chasing the big money.

Me, my husband and dog Billy have just had a 3 night break in a Shepherds Hut at Spot in the Woods and it was amazing!! It is in a great location for exploring the New Forest and is super dog friendly which we loved. All the staff were so friendly and couldn't do enough for us (especially Ty). The food was excellent, breakfast was incredible and set us up for the day, we can recommend the full English and Bakery on the menu, they even had a dog menu. The Shepherds Hut was perfect and very clean, the dog treats, gin and biscuits were a lovely touch. We really hope we get the chance to stay here again.

Lovely location for this small hotel. There are 5 or 6 shepherd's huts for those looking for an almost outdoors experience or other rooms inside the hotel itself. The staff were all super friendly and breakfast had a great choice on offer. Highly recommend this stay and would visit again if in the area.

My wife and I were lucky enough to stay at Spot in the Woods recently for our anniversary weekend, mainly because it was dog friendly in the rooms and restaurant. The service was second to none, and neither my wife or I could fault it. Nothing was to much trouble for the staff, and the breakfast and dinner in the restaurant was exceptional. A big thank you to ALL the staff (Dan, Tyrone and Fiona - apologies I did not catch all their names, but all were equal in the fantastic service) at the hotel for an amazing weekend away.

We stayed in the Shepherds Hut with our dog and ate dinner and breakfast in the restaurant. It was such lovely food and service. The breakfast was particularly impressive. Comfortable bed and a really fun experience. Highly recommend.

We stayed in the huts with our 2 dogs, it was very nice and had a feel of luxury throughout. The bed was big and comfy and the facilities were modern and clean. The breakfast we had was delicious and all the staff were very friendly. Would definitely stay again and would recommend.

So much potential, but too busy chasing revenue to care about guests. We stayed in a shepherds hut. We had booked for 2 adults, 2 dogs and an infant. We paid extra for the dogs and a cot. However there is not actually enough floor space for a cot, let alone a cot and dog beds. The heater didn't work, one of the storage drawers didn't open, the bathroom door didn't shut and in 4 nights stay the room got cleaned once - meaning the teabags, milk etc weren't replaced either. Most offensive tho was our son became seriously unwell in the damp hut in the early hours of Saturday morning. An ambulance was sent. When I went to reception to inform them I found there is no one on duty so I had to wait in the car park myself to direct the paramedics. On checkout we were charged another fee for cleaning the duvet as my son had been sick on it.

We stayed here with friends and three very excitable pugs and couldn’t have been made to feel more welcome! The hotel is quirky and comfortable…our room was spotless and the friendly housekeeping staff made sure it stayed that way. One even came to find us at breakfast the first morning to ask whether we’d like another dog bed! We thoroughly enjoyed the breakfast each morning…in fact the food is so good that we dined twice in the evenings too. We were lucky enough to try a few dishes from the new menu and can’t wait to try more. The staff are fabulous, and frequently went out of their way to make sure we were looked after. All in all it was a perfect stay…we have already booked our next one and wouldn’t hesitate to recommend it to anyone!

Lovely location and really friendly staff, but the food wasn't as good as I remember it being. Came here since its dog friendly and the terrace is lovely to sit on with this warm weather. We came for breakfast, coffee was alright and there was nothing wrong with the food, but compared to other places over the forest it seemed a bit average. Still worth a visit if you are in the area, especially if you have a dog, but I wouldn't specifically go out of my way to come here.
