Amazing wildlife centre, doing wonderful work to save and preserve many species. The bird of prey show is excellent too. Gate money goes to the charity and there’s a play area and mini train ride to keep the kids entertained as well. Highly recommend a visit.

Great place excellent value for money and very friendly informative staff. The bird flying display is a must my 3yr old daughter has had an absolute blast at the mischievous Nimbus not doing as he was told and how all the birds flew so close over out heads. Well done to all involved, we’ll be back soon!

Lovely little place and have been a few times now. I had all my questions answered by the lovely staff and watched a hawk train for a short while. Enjoyable to walk around and learn about the history of each bird/creature but a lot of them have a sad back story. Will definitely return next year.

I found this place by chance and it is wonderful. Only £5 per adult and £4 for children over 3, it was fabulous value for money. A great variety of animals, and a lovely birds of Prey display which was super informative (as well as humorous thanks to some characterful birds and fab display host!). Just outside the wildlife centre entrance, there is a lovely little train ride (£2pp) and a wooden park area. Ice creams available from various locations there. I will certainly be back and will recommend 😊

We had an absolutely amazing day out to the wildlife center. There's so many different animals/birds etc to see and lots of fun to be had. So cheap to get in and such a wonderful charity to support.

It is a sensational place. Wonderful animals that needed rescue and care, wonderful people with big hearts to care for every one of them. Please visit and support the Gentleshaw Green Army!

It's hard to find but worth it in the end. Needs better signs. It's located at the back of the garden centre but you go through the garden centre main entrance, then make your way to the back, outside. It's cheap to enter and there's lots of birds of prey and owls. All the animals look well looked after and the staff are friendly. Even the gift shop is cheap at the end and I didn't mind spending some money here as I didn't feel they were trying to rip me off like most places. With it being a rescue centre/charity, I hope the money I spent there will go towards the upkeep of the animals, and I will be returning in the summer.

All the animals are lovely but special shout out to Rebel the Raven! Lots to see and learn about, and the volunteers are all so friendly. Only cost us £5 each and honestly its well worth the money. Will be visiting again!

Over gud not over priced . £5, pounds for adults. Children under 4 free. Friendly staff. Went on Friday morning nice quiet place . Plus the garden centre next door . Worth a vist. For tea rooms. Spent over 3 hours looks at different animals. Train ride is 2 pounds sadly was on my vist. But enjoy it. Its chairty wild centre. So every penny counts. Don't expect Chester zoo. But overall nice place to visit.

Excellent value little wildlife centre to spend a lovely hour or two wandering around. Most of the animals are rescued so it's great to know you're helping to look after rescued animals as well as getting a nice little trip out!

Amazing little afternoon out, easily outdid my expectations. Nice low entry cost, with good variety of birds and animals. The information for each animal was extra special in my opinion, they really gave each individual bird and animal its own personality and really added to the experience. Would have liked to have had chance to see a bird show but we were lucky to see someone having an experience which was nice as still got to see a variety of birds flying. The staff were so genuine and knowledgeable, you could tell they really cared about the animals and birds there. Look forward to going back to see the completed new reptile centre.

Lovely place to visit. Staff are excellent especially Jordan who seemed to know everything about all the animals. The mad monkey was funny, as it didn't like Jordan & made it clear (see photo). A great place for a family visit, picnic & play areas, bird flying arena. Also connected to a garden centre with a nice cafe. Beautiful countryside setting. Will be going back for more visits.

A small zoo with a wide range of animals. Most animals are from rescue situations and are well cared for. Entry cost is small which is reasonable for what's on offer. Accessibility is good with ramps where needed and all paths being hardstanding.

This isn't a massive place, but it's an amazing day out. So many animals to see!! And your ticket allows entry all day so you can go and come back as many times as needed. Mini golf was only £1.50 per person. Thoroughly enjoyed this. ☺️

Absolutely fabulous wildlife sanctuary. We all had a lovely time. My 14 month old twins loved toddling around and looking at all the animals. I've already recommended going to several friends and we will definitely be back! The children park and play area are fab too.

Fantastic little wildlife centre. Animals are clearly well looked after & the volunteers care about what they do. It's worth reading the signs about each animal & why they were rescued. A really wonderful little sanctuary.

Amazing time! The animals are so well looked after, and the staff are so friendly and happy to talk about them!! Absolutely love the signs saying how they ended up at gentleshaw, makes it feel even better that they are getting such excellent care now even though some of them had a rough start ♥️

Lovely little place to visit and for such a reasonable price! Nice to be up close to the animals and birds and all are well looked after. Nice clean and tidy place. Good place for children too. My 15 month old loved the place as she was able to see all the animals closely and clearly. Lots of good paths too for prams or wheelchairs. Staff are really friendly and helpful too. Definitely recommend this place for a visit for an hour or 2.

Absolutely fabulous little place. Luckily arrived just before 2pm and saw the Bird of Prey flight show, which was very informative and very well managed. Really good value too for the whole place. It’s a small but very friendly place and needs as much support as possible.

There was a superhero event with birds flying. Kids enjoyed it very much. Prey birds flying event was unique and interesting. Kids saw big snakes and lots of small animals, had mini train ride and enjoyed the day.

What a great place to experience. Bird and animal recuperation at its heart, this small 'zoo' is set amongst a miniature ride-on railway, and a large garden centre. Free parking and small restaurant.

  • 5/5 Kate G. 4 years ago on Google

  • 5/5 Mike C. 5 months ago on Google
Absolutely brilliant. Loads of rescued wild animals that have been lucky to be looked after to the end of their days by this wonderful place. Well worth a visit and as cheap as chips to get in. Plenty to see and make sure you read each animals notes at the side of their cages.

This animal sanctuary needs your support .. its only £5 to get in but your donation helps feed and heat the animals .. I love it here .. friendly staff, great cafe. Nice family day out.

This is a rescue centre, and has more to see than we initially expected. Lots of birds of prey, lemurs, wild cats. I was a bit concerned some of the enclosures seemed small and dark. Entry is £5 per adult which seemed OK, lots of staff and possibly young volunteers cleaning enclosures and caring for the animals. We didn't stay for the bird display on this occasion. Other attractions at the site include a miniature train, crazy golf, the garden centre and a nice cafe. Good family day out.

  • 5/5 Jon W. 2 years ago on Google
I took my 4 year old and 2 year old here in half term and we had a great time! It's not the biggest place but with the addition of the playground, the train and a garden centre to have a mooch about (the kids loved the Christmas decorations) we spent a good few hours there. It's an absolute bargain price to get in too, very much recommended as a good place to spend a few hours with the kids

  • 5/5 Michelle S. 2 years ago on Google
Lovely day out. Great value for money my granddaughter loved seeing all the birds of prey the wolf dog the singing dog, racoons, tortoise, terrapins, meerkats etc. she loves the monkeys. Staff were very friendly and helpful. The little train which does a trip round the centre was really enjoyable. The bird show was great. You can go out into the garden centre and come back in to the wildlife centre as many times as you like. The little gift shop is really reasonable prices too and there is not a lot to spend money on. My granddaughter already wants to come back again! We played crazy golf and also on the play area too.

A lovely little wild life park

  • 5/5 Shep D. L. 4 years ago on Google
Best animal sanctuary anywhere. It's obvious from their energy not one person there doesn't care and want the best for the animals. Such an interactive experience, got to fly "brok" the Harris hawk, while also meeting and getting to meet and pet "Samson" the wolf dog. So much love to be found at gentleshaw

  • 4/5 Kelsey C. 4 years ago on Google
A lovely little centre doing great work with a range of birds of prey rescued from different situations. Areas are being rebuilt but this in no way takes away from the enjoyment of seeing the animals. The little train is great too. Cafe in the main garden centre offers a reasonable range of food and drinks

  • 4/5 clair s. 4 years ago on Google

This is a lovely place for a family day out.It has a shop, which at the moment is mainly christmas, garden centre,a train track that takes you around the whole park costing £1.50 each, animals park which includes horses, goats, birds and in the summer months do an air display. And a really good park for both toddlers and older kids, there is plenty of place for a picnic as have picnic benches, but they also have a really good restaurant. All in all you can easily spend the whole day.

  • 5/5 Luke R. 4 years ago on Google
Great place to visit with or without kids. Especially good if with children however as it has a good play area. It's good too see all the animals they have taken in and they are not the usual ones you see in a zoo. Pro tip:- Check Groupon for discounts (2 adults, 2 children £8)

  • 5/5 Brian T. 4 years ago on Google
Great day out for the kids

  • 5/5 Todd B. 4 years ago on Google
Animals are in quite small cages, but with the obviously limited budget the centre has they have done the best they can for a lot of rescued animals. A really great hour or 2 with animals that are all inquisitive and obviously cared for. If we're ever in the area again we'll definitely be going to see the cockatoo again.

  • 5/5 Emily B. 4 years ago on Google

  • 5/5 Simon T. 3 years ago on Google
Gentleshaws is a wonderful place where animals have been rescued and can live out their lives in great surroundings. There are new enclosure's being built and the whole place looks like it's having a great facelift. Great value for money... it's important that we keep these small independent places going... check the website before visiting as you currently have to book. Due to current restrictions once inside you can go around and look at the animals as many times as you like, but once you leave you are unable to re-enter as you once did. Well worth a visit.

My boyfriend and I came here last weekend and we had such a lovely day. There are lots of different animals and birds here and they are clearly loved and well cared for by the volunteers. There are little plaques outside each enclosure which give you detailed information about the personality of each individual animal as well as where they have come from previously and how they're getting on since being in the sanctuary. This is a lovely touch which you often don't get in animal visitor attractions and showed the keepers really care about the animals as individuals. One of the volunteers also let us stroke one of the bearded dragons 'Boris' whilst he was doing a welfare check which was lovely! The price was only £5 each entry which was very reasonable for what we got to see. There is also a lovely big garden centre, and cafe next to it which is nice. Would definitely recommend and will be visiting again soon!
