Wow!!! What a fantastic find. It was the Thursday before Coronation. I popped over to London for a day of wandering, walking the streets that would soon be crowded as a new king was crowned. I was walking to catch a coach back to Oxford. The sun had set and then I heard music coming out of a building. I walked into this magnificent bar. Which as it turns out is part of the hotel. I loved it. My husband told me to get a room and stay the night. I was happy to sit, have a cocktail, listen to music and eat a sweet delicious dessert. Look at these pictures. Wow!! I caught a later coach and arrived back in Oxford after midnight. This little detour was worth it. I will be back with my husband. The service was warm and friendly. I loved watching the patrons ALL laughing, chatting and having a good time. The dessert gets an A++ for flavor & creative presentation. Thank you 😊.

I booked in for the Cocktail Masterclass. I was surprised that the class went ahead as I was the only one registered for this particular time slot. It was an excellent session. Matt was extremely knowledgeable and personable; and I enjoyed a classic cocktail and a bespoke cocktail as part of the experience. I’ve enjoyed a few lovely cocktails and great conversations on other occasions during my stay at the Rubens. The bar / wait staff have all provided service to the highest standards.

I booked a date on February 14 with my date and we were very excited to go to such a beautiful place. When we arrived I said that I had a reservation in my name but for some reason they didn't listen to me (or they didn't believe me) and they asked me which table did I booked, drinks, food... I didn't remember so I said I would take out my cell phone to look for the information and the person tells me "it doesn't matter, in the meantime I'll sit you here". We sat at a random table, we ordered to eat and drink. We drank mojito, very bad, they had almost no alcohol and only tasted of mint, I asked for mine with raspberry and I thought it would have a fruit flavor but it wasn't even that, they just put raspberries on top. I ordered Pasta Primavera, it was horrible I really can't believe I paid £25 for a pasta that I could have made myself or paid elsewhere at a lower price and tasted good. It was very sad. My partner ordered a brownie and told me that the cake was dry and tasteless. We did not like the food or the drinks. In the end, when we asked for the bill, they charged me for everything, which seemed strange to me because I had made a reservation and to do that you have to pay £30 that would ne discounted at the end of the bill. At that moment the waitress looked for the manager (I suppose) and he brought a sheet with him, they asked my name, I told them what it was and that's when they realized that we did have a reservation and not that we were there just because... I found it unprofessional. We were the youngest in the place and I don't know if that's why they didn't take us seriously or what, but we left very disappointed. The waitress who served us was nice, and the atmosphere of the place was good but unfortunately the other experiences don't let us recommend this place.

What a lovely place, very tasty food. But the service from IIOANA was incredible! She was excellent.

Last night we came to the New York bar the whiskey tasting experience. We had such a great time!! Frank was amazing, so knowledgeable and friendly. We tried 3 amazing whiskeys and also got 3 paired cheeses, as well as a sharing food platter which was delicious. We found it really good value for this sort of experience. Then as we were finishing a singer began, she was really good so we ended up staying for more drinks! If you're considering going for a drink experience - do it - and ask for Frank!

Whisky tasting experience for my husband. We had a great afternoon with Jacek. He shared so much information about the different types of whisky. The origins, how to taste whisky, how it is paired with soft and hard cheeses and with chocolate. Something I did not know. What a lovely and humorous person Jacek was (seriously). The food was delicious, the short ribs, the giant prawn, the fries and chicken bao bun was delicious 😋. Would definitely come back.

Gin tasting was booked as a gift from family! Learnt from Jacek about the history of gin and how different types/brands are made. An incredibly knowledgable man who didn’t rush us through our 2 hour experience. We had a super time. Sampled 3 different gins, all both neat and with tonics. Atmosphere, service and staff were fantastic. Highly recommend!

Stayed at the hotel for 4 nights for my birthday and had the best cocktail experience ever with Matt who created our cocktails to suit our taste. With this we received the best tasting nibbles to go with it. Absolutely fantastic, thank you Matt. Would also like to give a thanks to the waiter in the bar Frank, great service.

Quick stop for an afternoon drink and nibble. Quintessential English bar located in the Rubens Hotel. Table service, always a bonus, great drinks, loads to choose from on the menu. Great for a special evening, drinks with friends or a cozy drink for two. Highly recommend, conveniently located walking distance from Victoria and across the street from the Royal Mews.

My girlfriend took me here for the whiskey tasting experience for my birthday, it was brilliant. The wonderful Raj welcomed us and made us feel excited to be there and that they were genuinely happy to have us, it was the best service I have ever experienced. We were then introduced to Frank who guided us through our experience. He was knowledgeable and friendly, an absolute pleasure. The whiskeys were delicious, as were the accompanying cheeses, sharing dishes, and the birthday dessert they kindly gave me. We have already arranged to go back, I would highly recommend it to anyone.

Last night myself and my family came for our daughter's joint birthday meal. The food was lovely and we all enjoyed the experience. The staff previously knew about our daughter's birthday's in advance and made the most beautiful cake with both of their names on it. This was such a lovely touch and was a lovely surprise. The singer was fantastic and bought a lovely ambiance to the evening. I would personally like to thank Fred for his amazing hospitality and his friendly 5 star service. He made us feel very welcome and it's that great service that makes a difference to an evening out. Thanks to all the staff for everything.

A very enjoyable experience. Had intended on going to the Leopard Bar, but ended up here. Raj was wonderfully attentive as we entered, and Fred was excellent as our server. Atmosphere was decent but the service made all the difference. Well done and highly recommended!

Great ambience. Good selection of drinks. The staff was kind enough to walk me around the bar and give show me around the leopard bar and the tea menu. the Indian restaurant downstairs the bar was also fantastic. the food was amazing and cooked to perfection. the manager Mohan was very courteous and took care of us really well. The chef had come down to us and talked to us. As I have dietary preferences, he made special dishes to compensate for what I could not otherwise eat. This was a great gesture. I would recommend this very highly! Great place, great service, great location and very friendly place.

A wonderful interlude after our show was cancelled. Joppe was so attentive and friendly and the rest of the staff were great too. The bathroom was clean and spacious and environmentally friendly with proper hand towels. The drinks menu had everything you could need and everything was easy to find. They use paper straws. Wonderful tapas snacks and beautiful decor. I can really recommend their infused gins. This bar made us want to book the adjacent hotel next time we visit. Really great bar.

We went to a whisky tasting. Jacek was amazing, so knowledgeable and personable, and it exceeded expectations by a mile! Will be getting as a gift to whisky-enjoyingfriends for sure.

Gin experience at the New York Bar. I have done various Gin tours in London. However, the Gin experience with Jacek was on a different level. Immediately at ease his friendly and humourous demeanor made you feel very comfortable. His exceptional knowledge had us wanting to know more. Compliments to the chef's as even the sharing platter was on a different level. We still cannot stop talking about it. Thank you Jacek.

Jacek gave us an amazing gin tasting experience! Gave us the history of gin followed by a lovely tasting with lots of interesting facts and tips! This was followed up with fancy cheesey fries, bau buns and smoke salmon profiteroles (for lack of a better explanation). Would definitely recommend and am eyeing up the whiskey experience in the future!

Wow!!! Just had THE best gin experience with Jacek. There’s nothing he doesn’t know about gin and whiskey and vodka for that matter!!! I’d recommend it for anyone to try!! Thank you for a great evening and your warm hospitality.

Fantastic gin tasting experience with Jacek who was knowledgeable and gave a wonderful insight into the world of gin it’s origins, history and how to enhance the flavours. The gins were plentiful and the ambience superb. Lovely hotel and very pleasant staff the platter for two was also delicious. We will be back!

Though the staff were lovely and the drinks were great, the food was quite disappointing. We got the share plate and everything on it was fried and greasy, though it was a small amount of food and not the main meal, we couldn’t finish them. When we got the main meal, same again. Greasy, poorly thought out combinations of food. Apart from a little coleslaw and a tomato with my schnitzel, there was nothing fresh to tone down the heavy oily cheesy, yet dry chicken sandwich. Making it worse was the premium price we paid for something we couldn’t even fully eat when we could get something tastier at our local pub/fish and chip store for half the price. There’s a photo of the crab bites on my side plate. As you’ll see it’s mushy and unappetising, not tasting any crab but only oil. The staff did attempt to be lovely and take care of us but I love my food and it makes me horrible sad to have an experience like this at a place I had high hopes for. I’m sorry to give you a bad review but if this is what you choose to serve at a high class bar and hotel, don’t charge people the prices you do. Either that or make some adjustments to your menu and serve meals that have people actually leaving satisfied and wanting more.

Really lovely bar, with great, helpful staff. I would strongly recommend taking part in a whiskey tasting session with Jacek: He is very knowledgable and enthusiastic, and the experience is a real eye-opener. I could not fault any part of our time at this bar!

Excellent range of cocktails and live music. Highly recommended. Don't hesitate to ask for anything bespoke. The corner seating, against the walls is best placed for watching the live music.
