It's an impressive looking piece of mountain looking onto you from far and convincing to hike it. I like hikes. This is an entry-level walk/hike I've done. It took me 20k steps to top and to walk around Roseberry topping. I enjoyed every moment of it. Even walking into private land and being kicked out of there. Or helpful old man providing me with directions while searching for his amazon parcel delivered. Could be great for a family walks too...go do it.

Lovely little walk, quite a short/low incline path. Many walks from the top where you can walk for miles and not see anyone! Views are stunning even in rain! You can see roseberry topping from the top too. Picnic tables at the bottom but no toilets! Parking can be difficult when sunny (as it gets busy) and in winter the drive up can be difficult if it is snowy. But it is free!!! Have walked it on all conditions and times of the day! A very famous landmark in the North East. A moderate climb from the car park at Gribdale that shouldn't pose a challenge to many folk. Stunning views from the top and plenty of choices on how to get back to the car depending on your mood....or the weather.

Had a lovely walk to see the monument which is part of the Cleveland way. We parked at Dikes Lane at Gribdale gate. There is limited free parking, but we went quite early (8.30am) and there was plenty of spaces. The walk is quite steep, and a decent walk on gravel, rocky paths. Definitely not for anyone that could struggle going up a few flights of stairs. There are some great views along the way up, with view points to see Roseberry Topping. There are no facilities at the car park or beyond, so pack drinks and snacks. The sign posts although tell you the route for the Cleveland way are useless to get you back to the car park, so if your doing a loop , plan it before you go, or turn round and go back the way you went, or you’ll end up guessing and walk further than you planned. (Like we did) I’d like to do Roseberry topping , but it looks harder. The Wainestones is another great hike/walk.

Fabulous walk today from Grib Gate car park at the bottom of Captain Cook's monument. Fresh earlier on but stunning views and a lovely 7 mile walk over the moor. Road up to the car park isn't great especially when you have drivers who don't care about other road users

First time here, been to roseberry many times, definitely to adding this visit to my trips there from now on, spectacular view, and makes the walk to roseberry so much more enjoyable.

While I felt on the verge of dying from a heart attack on the way up, the views from the top make it totally worth it, you can see for miles around. The actual location of the path up to the monument could be made more clear, as well as whether parking is free or charged.

Great walk up to the monument and then from there to Roseberry topping. Skylarks, pheasants, all manner of small birds, beautiful gorse flowers and a whispy cloud sky. Perfect.

Really nice walk up to get to one way and a bit boggy the other way. Looped round from Roseberry Topping. Beautiful spot on the edge of the national park and views for miles. Not too difficult of a climb up and paved along. Plenty of dog walkers, can be windy up at the top which you don't notice sheltered down below

The monument itself is average but the view from the top was amazing and well worth the hike ! The way up is quite steep in some places, especially near the top. When you go back down it is easy to accidentally slip if you don't have the right shoes and if you're not careful but isn't altogether that dangerous. I would definitely recommend this for the outstanding view!

The monument is fairly unremarkable (unlike its namesake) but the view is definitely worth the walk.

Great walk up to the monument, dropped down to Kildale and back along. Be warned hill back up from Kildale is a bit steepπŸ§—β€β™‚οΈ

A pleasant reasonably easy walk from car park up through a wooded area consisting of various types of fir & pine trees. Some areas off main path offer views of Roseberry Topping & sites of memorial plaques. Amazing views especially on a clear day & a splendid monument.

Great place for a dog and baby walk! Plenty of parking spaces even though it was rather busy (bug group of walkers). Fantastic views when you get to the top!

Visited last evening came to do a little photography on the moors the monument itself isn’t that photogenic but managed to find some bell Heather and a dark moody sky the views around a dramatic good walking especially if you have a dog the walk up from the car park is steep in places but there’s a good path going up well worth a look

Lovely walk up a massive hill to fantastic views! Totally worth it!

This is a no frills monument...meaning there isn't a fancy cafe or ice cream shop around and you don't need to pay to visit....which makes it even more attractive. A good steep walk from the car park to the top and then a gorgeous view from there. Adventururers can take a more interesting route than the normal plain steep walk.

Fantastic views on a sunny day. Look North to see Roseberry Topping in the distance. Ideal for the dogs to explore. Look West to see Bilsdale Transmitter perched on the hill. Whoever said it was a 15min walk to the monument from the car park was obviously having a laugh.

Good walk up from great Ayton, which itself is a lovely village. Free public toilets. Great shops for snacks, pies, drinks. Good pubs and eating places for after the walk too

Amazing views, great walks, steepish climb so some good foot wear needed, tricky for very little people ie kids but really enjoyable. Won't be disappointed.
