You can tell when someone really cares about what they do and I can only endorse what many, many visitors have already said. This place is great! We have three teenage children, and we do take an interest in nature, but even so we all loved it. It is rare that you get flying displays where you are so close to the birds...and big ones at that. The staff really know their stuff and are very keen to share it with you. There is lots of information and everywhere is well kept. Beautiful location, just remember you will be outdoors. Access is ok with flat paths everywhere but I bet the car park gets busy at peak times. Even small children can view most of the enclosures and certainly the displays. If you are interested in learning more about these magnificent birds or even just to watch them, please, please visit. Why not sponsor a bird? We did but we managed to lose the details so no idea which one. It was a while ago as I forgot to post but we hope to visit again later this year.

We paid 90 pound per person and it was worth every penny, even if just in the name of conservation. The birds are as impressive as you picture and you get to see and "fly" the big ones! Staff is friendly and definitely professional. Would highly recommend!

Professional. Informative. Fun. Very warm and friendly team. Full day experience worth every penny. Just INCREDIBLE to fly eagles, owls and hawks. What an amazing place and these guys let the birds fly free round Thirsk and they could choose to fly away. Ethically spot on. The birds always come back home to them as they are so well looked after. An absolute priveledge and honour to spend the day here. Also you can pay a small amount to watch their daily talks, when you will see vultures amd many other birds doing displays. To top it all off the gift shop is awesome and the picnic area.

Loads of different birds of prey to see. The display was excellent and you could tell that both the handlers and the birds enjoyed performing. They also provide experiences so you can get even closer to the birds - presume you would need to pre-book. Definitely worth a visit if you are in the area.

Lovely place. Small, but lots of birds. Make sure you watch the displays. Friendly knowledgeable staff. No separate cafΓ©, but good range of food and drink in the shop, including tea, coffee, sandwiches and ice creams.

Very good Birds of Prey Show, one of the best I have seen. Multiple birds simultaneously flying around. So much to watch every minute. The keepers are extremely knowledgeable and friendly. Vast array of birds to see and some peculiar species that I had never seen before. Prices are a little steep considering the size of the venue. Would be nicer to have been spread out a little more with a few activities or even a play park to allow for more of a day out instead of just kill a couple hours. All in all I would recommend going to this place but take your time at each aviary and make sure you time your visit to ensure you can see a show.

Absolutely recommend to visit this beautiful place in Thirsk. Everyone was highly trained with these beautiful birds. The real show stopper for us is they brought many of the bird's to you and also watch them fly and come back when called. I don't know the lady who presented all the birds was just truly amazing And the there was Dave bringing these very special birds in and out of there warm homes. For us it was an absolute amazing experience and definitely recommend you go and visit them and support this family who run Thirsk birds of prey and we will visit again soon. πŸ’—

Second visit many years after the first this time with children in tow as a stop off on the way to Scarborough. Arrived just before the 1:30 afternoon display so had a walkround looking at the differant birds and reading about the background of the differant breeds. The display was great we luckily managed to sit in the right spot and had a few of the birds fly just over our heads as they flew between the trainers. The host was very good enjoyed listening to the stories behind each breed and the individual birds history. A few additional breeds now which are not birds of prey but still very interesting seeing them.

We visited for the afternoon on return from holiday. The centre is excellent. Lots of birds to see many sat out on there perches. The other birds appeared to have large clean aviary. We watched 2 shows both very enjoyable and informative. The birds appear to get out and fly lots and have plenty of enrichment. We saw 26 birds over the 2 shows plus more birds were out with guests on experience days.

Love this place, well worth a visit if you’re the area!! Beautiful birds, great displays and the staff are second to none We used Tesco Clubcard vouchers to get in so that maybe an option if you’re on a budget. Plenty of picnic tables available if u take a picnic and some cold food and drink, hot drinks too.

A fabulous day out as part of my 2020 Xmas present that I was finally able to use. Well worth the wait. A special all day eagle handling and flying experience, the staff are excellent, knowledgeable and good fun to be with. Sharing the arena with over 15 different types of eagles is an absolute privilege. I would wholly recommend this experience, as it's one you won't forget.

Brilliant day out for teens, youngsters and grandparents. A wide variety of birds, and the 3 flying sessions are entertaining and knowledgeable with about 10 different birds flown each time

Quite a small site, but impeccably well kept enclosures and all the birds appeared alert and content. I especially thought that the signs showing when the birds had/were scheduled a flight out were nice. We stayed for one of the displays, which was thoroughly enjoyable, and the keepers were friendly and very knowledgeable! Picnic areas were appreciated. Facilities well maintained. Would certainly come again!

Wonderful place with a varied and impressive array of Birds to see. The daily shows are spectacular and extremely informative and well presented. We do not live in Yorkshire, but we will definitely be back when we are back in town and will also be renewing our sponsorship of one of these fabulous birds later in the year. This is a great day out, super value for money in a wonderful setting. Please support these guys as much as you possibly can, they are doing a fantastic job and amazing work in aiding the conservation of these beautiful birds. Get yourself down there whenever you can, you will not be disappointed, its brilliant 🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟

Cannot recommend this highly enough! A really friendly centre but also very professional. We saw two shows which gives you time for your picnic in the middle. The experts are very entertaining but the birds are definitely the stars! Wonderful!

We had a fabulous day at the Birds of Prey centre. Saw 2 flying displays, compere was excellent. All the birds were lovely and in great condition. Great to see the storks flying. The staff were friendly, knowledgeable and chatted to all.

A wonderful place to visit. I was lucky enough to be gifted a half day birds of prey experience and it was superb. I got to handle 10 species of birds, and some much bigger than I imagined. A helpful hand was ready to support my arm, meaning that I could handle the Bald Eagle although I'm not the strongest! Such beautiful and happy birds, and it was such a privilege to be close to them. We were given a very warm welcome by the friendly team - visitors and birds alike all treated as part of the family! The displays were wonderful too, and it's such a lovely setting. Many thanks.

Fantastic family run venue doing great preservation work and thoroughly entertaining displays. Don't miss the new African Adventure in the afternoon. Especially good value for money if you stay for both daily flying displays.

Amazing Bird of prey centre, great selection of birds you can see are all cared for very well. We stayed for two displays and both had different birds flying. Kerry and Dave were both very knowledgeable and presented the displays with good humour. I’ll definitely be back to try one of the experience days to get hands on with some of the birds.

Such a fantastic day for us both, Lucy had one of her 21st Birthday treats, an Eagle experience. The whole team couldn't have been more informative and made sure it was her best day ever ❀️ we will be back next year thanks so much from us both. Nat & Lucy

An excellent day out, plenty to see, and 3 really good flight demonstrations. The staff are very friendly and happy to share their encyclopaedic knowledge. We shall definitely be back for the summer programme which starts in July.

We always have such a great time here. The staff are really knowledgeable and super friendly and approachable for any questions. We've sponsored 2 birds so far and my elderly father has been given the opportunity to hold each of them. Great day out, 3 flying shows per day. Starting 1st July they have large flying shows, to music etc. Going to be awesome. Quick and easy to get to via A1, M62 etc. Β£9 per adult, worth every penny for the conservation project of saving these beautiful birds.

A fantastic place to visit with one of the largest collections of birds I've seen in one place. It's obvious that the staff give their birds the best love and care. I stayed to watch a couple of the flying displays, which are the best displays I have watch with a large variety of birds flown and even multiple birds flying at the same time (which I have never seen anyone else do) during the African adventure show, they had 10 birds out at the same time for the ending part of the show, which made for a spectacular display

  • 4/5 Jorden B. 8 months ago on Google
Great place with excellent bird shows throughout the day and one that had about 20 birds in all. The shows are dependent on wind and other weather, but they will bring birds out to show that they just may not have them flying if its no good. It was a little smaller than I expected as it was our first time visiting, but it was enough for my 15m old. Didn't realise there wouldn't be a little cafe, but there are snacks and sandwiches available in the ticket/souvenir office.

  • 5/5 Lindsey S. 8 months ago on Google
Wonderful gem of a place to visit with 3 flying displays a day, lots of info about each species and knowledgeable/friendly staff. Bring a picnic if you have any dietary needs/don't like sandwiches as the shop has a limited selection of these and snacks (there's no hot food cafe) but apart from that no negatives!

  • 5/5 Alison H. 8 months ago on Google
Had a fabulous day at the centre. So many beautiful birds to see and the flying displays were wonderful. Eagles swooping just over our heads and magnificent storks soaring above us. The birds had such character and put on a great performance. The staff were friendly and informative and entertaining. On a practical level, the gift shop is well stocked with lovely souvenirs, a variety of sandwiches and pastries, hot and cold drinks, sweets and crisps and there's loads of picnic tables to sit at.

Wonderful place! Came across it by accident on google and thought I’ll give it a try and good job I did! My 7 year old who is into birds absolutely loved it and so did I. Definitely worth a visit with or without children you’re guaranteed to enjoy it! The only downside is the lack of indoor space where you could wait for the next show if the weather is not too good, but that said it won’t stop me from returning!

Excellent arena and staff for seeing birds flying displays.

  • 5/5 Suzie H. 3 years ago on Google
Really enjoyed our visit here - the display was wonderful, the birds' well-being is clearly the first priority of the staff and the stories behind each of the birds was just lovely. I kinda want a pet vulture now as I've developed a huge soft spot for Gonzo, who apparently missed people through lockdown and bobbled round the arena like a little puppy, completely in his element. All the birds are amazing - I've never seen that many birds of prey so close up , they are just fabulous. We spent a very enjoyable 2 hours here and felt the entrance price was perfectly justified.

Brilliant day out for all of the family, all of the staff are friendly and are more than happy to answer any questions. They have free handling sessions during the day where anyone can have a hold of the birds from small to big. The displays are fascinating and the way they treat the birds is to my liking (they try and give them full roam of the sky and just let them enjoy themselves).

  • 5/5 Piers R. 3 years ago on Google
Lots of different birds, amazing to see the big ones in flight at the shows.

  • 5/5 Benjamin C. 3 years ago on Google
At first, it seems like any other animal sanctuary. Then the show starts, and they let the birds fly off wherever they want. They called it "natural flying", and it's great. We lost sight of one of the eagles for a while, but then spotted it far away above the trees. Well worth seeing

What an excellent place to go, my wife thoroughly enjoyed the 2.5 hrs Owl experience. We left feeling we had, had great value for money; from a very friendly and experienced small team. A must if you enjoy this kind of adventure.

  • 5/5 Helen C. 3 years ago on Google
Did the 'Owl Experience' today - close up with c. 6 species from small to large, and flying them. Excellent guides. Highly recommended - or you could do the eagles or birds of prey alternatives.

Another couple of fantastic days out at Thirsk birds of prey centre. Fab family day out last week, where we watched all 3 amazing displays. Then, my daughter and I did the half day owl experience today - again staying to watch the 3 displays. This is an amazing, well-run family business where the birds are all treated as members of an extended family. Very well cared for and the interaction between bird/handler needs to be seen to be believed. We are all very glad you made it through the lockdown and hope the coming winter will be a bit easier for you. We look forward to seeing you all again next year!

  • 5/5 Kim W. 3 years ago on Google
Did my first eagle experience day last year, it was an awesome experience! Looking forward to going again this year too, what these guys do is astonishing! The birds are breathtaking to watch and handle( or just be a tree branch to land on)

Havent been for a number of years. Very welcoming and they have fantastic array of birds of prey that you are able to view across the small grounds. The little shop is able to provide hot and cold drinks with crisps, sweets etc, bring your own pack lunch though. 3 flying displays all with different birds that are listed in the courtyard. The displays are led by Kerry with Dave/Colin, all very knowledgeable and engaging. Would recommend for a few hours out and like many places they need all the support during these difficult times.

Great place to visit, either by yourself or with children. You can tell staff are caring and passionate about their work and the birds. They have lots of different birds and lots of options to do. The place is in a lovely location, not huge but my wife and I enjoyed around 4 hours here and watched 2 displays which were quite different but both were amazing. It is well worth a visit, the cafe is small and very reasonably priced, but there is a lot of picnic benches outside so why not take your own. Providing the weather is good, it is worth a visit.
