Moorforge Viking Settlement is a rare place where you can experience the Viking way of living through events, like minded people and through visiting the traditionally built longhouse and blacksmiths forge. The owner is a very friendly and knowledgeable guy who is more than happy to help with any questions you may have regarding his Settlement and his grand future plans for the place. I'm personally going to become quite a regular at Moorforge and looking forwards to what the future holds for this place.

Unique set up. Viking enthusiast has more or less single handedly built several authentic viking buildings including a forge/blacksmith and a longhouse, with more under construction. Generally not open the public but we showed up to take a peek and the owner kindly spent an hour showing us around. A quirky and unique little gem.

I went here a few months ago with my fiancé, during our break away. The Moorforge Viking Settlement isn't very big, but building work was taking place when we visitied (to add extra long buildings and workshops). The detail of the Moorforge Viking Settlement was impressive; especially the details of inside the buildings, shields, animal pelts, woodwork, etc. There are no toilet, food or drink facilities on site

A very interesting place to visit. Went to see a crafters fayre there. Small event, but all the crafters were excellent. No food or drink available on the day was a letdown. Hopefully, the next time, it'll be bigger and better. The settlement itself is well built and historically accurate as possible. The construction of the new longhouse is impressive, and I look forward to seeing it completed.

We went as a family to Moorforge for their viking craft day. What a wonderful group of people and lovely site. So much to see and the people gave us so much of their time to tell us about what they were clearly passionate about. This would make a brilliant school trip venue and we will be returning for other events.

It was a great experience firewalking with a hog roast after. I felt safe. And the views of the he sun setting on the solway over to Scotland were breath taking

Lots of wonderfully interesting clued up young people whose knowledge was contagious. It was a small event but we stayed for ages chatting and learning.

Lovely place with a forge & longhouse, they are building more & it's lovely to see the place growing. The Viking reinactments are fun to watch & the people are friendly.

Fantastic place to visit and David the owner of the site really welcoming, he was happy to give me and my fiancée a walk round tour even though he was busy himself. Took the time out of his day to show us round. I really hope he gets the funding or some help to finish the new longhouse. Would definitely be a great addition to the village. Only thing left after that would be jarls long house. If you ever get the chance to visit would definitely recommend.
