Quarr Abbey is a great (and free!) place to visit. The grounds are beautiful and if you can respect the silence, a visit inside the Abbey is quite the experience. The food shop is exquisite with a good range of quality and well priced items which of course all help with the good cause of the Abbey. The resident pigs (and, depending on the time of year, piglets!) are beautiful and feeding them is a great activity for the kids. The cafe is also amazing with good quality food and drinks available. If you’re passing, this is one of the best underrated places to visit on the Island!

Parked here in free car park to walk the coastal path into Ryde. A wonderful walk with beautiful scenery at the Abbey and along the pathways. A lovely tea room/cafe, yet to try but on the to do list, as near to the ferry terminal. Fed the pigs and thoroughly enjoyed the beautiful and tranquil surroundings. Obviously very popular with the locals for dog walking, and for meeting up for a cuppa and a chin wag.

Quarr Abbey is a hidden gem amongst the rolling hills of the Isle of Wight. We enjoyed spending time with the pigs and feeding them. It is surrounded by fields for dog walking and those who love nature. In the grounds of the Abbey is a truly delightful farm shop, tea rooms, and a visitor centre. We spent a good 2 hours roaming around and enjoying the relative peacefulness of the Abbey.

What a beautiful place! So serene and peaceful. We got to see tiny piglets having fun exploring and playing. We wandered the gardens on a stunning autumn afternoon and wondered why we hadn't been before. We will definitely be returning. This is a great place for all ages.

Fantastic bit of free history and tourism. A newish Abbey and its older predecessor surrounded by lovely paths and views. Had an art exhibition on our visit. Very informative onsite museum with a book shop and nearby shop selling lovely local produce. Even has a small pig farm to entertain the kids. Free parking and access to all areas.

Beautiful location and environment. We missed the singing monks as it was closed for the Christmas period. Must go back for another visit. The grounds were beautiful.

Lovely place to visit with an impressive church building. The grounds are beautiful to look at while strolling around. The kids loved the piglets. There is a visitors information area and shop with books, rosaries and other religious items to purchase. The video was a bit jumpy but gave a good and informative overview of the monastery past and present, as well as the printed displays. The produce in the farm shop is a bit expensive but good quality (beer is lovely). The cafe is also a bit steep with the baguette and sausage roll in the vegetarian ploughman's lunch being a bit pale but the coffee was very nice and my wife really liked her jacket potato. A worthwhile visit if you have a couple of hours/half day to fill.

Recommended visit if in the area. Interesting historic place. Felt very relaxed whilst walking around the Abbey and grounds. Also visited the Abbey pigs and were able to feed them. Lovely visit.

I have visted here several times over the years, and l love this place. The Abbey and its grounds are both very peaceful and relaxing to wander about. One of the star attractions here are the pigs and their piglets! If you fancy a nice lunch, a slice of cake or maybe drink then you will find a very good cafe here. There is no entrance to this Abbey.

Advised to go here when we arrived to early for the ferry off the isle. It was a fantastic recommendation and a delight for our last activity of our vacation. Beautiful grounds and a wonderfully tasty cafe.

I love it here, so peaceful. Managed to tag onto the 11 o clock tour, I'm sorry I didn't get the guides name, but he was brilliant. Really knowledgeable could answer every question. The best part of the tour is respectfully being allowed to the end of the Abbey, the bricklayers did an amazing job, it really is a work of art!

Nice and free place to visit. Great for nice walks, to meet before a bike ride and for delicious cream teas or lunch. Free parking too and easy walk to the isolated beaches.

Great location, beautiful peaceful grounds, lovely walks. Well stocked shop selling lovely local produce. Idyllic tea room with good food including delicious daily specials. The tea room outside garden area is a lovely space to sit and enjoy a morning coffee, afternoon cake or light lunch - the only negative (and this is not a complaint) but the tea room garden does sometimes have a bit of an issue with wasps during the summer months.

What an incredible building! The Abbey of Our Lady of Quarr is home to a small group of Benedictine monks. The abbey was designed by one of the original monks and built of Belgian brick in French, Byzantine and Moorish styles. It was completed in 1912 and lies a few hundred metres from the remains of the original twelfth-century abbey. Free to enter but donations welcomed. Definitely worth a visit.

Lovely peaceful place. Went on a gorgeous day so was perfect for walking round the grounds. Managed to observe one of the prayers as you are welcome in - thank you! Stopped into the tea rooms for hebal tea and cake - very nice! Easily accessible by bus from Ryde and Newport. But, be warned, the bus from Ryde and to Newport you have to cross the main road. Allow time to wait for traffic otherwise it's a little walk up a short Hill to the crossing. Free entry but donation boxes around to support

Beautiful grounds - lovely walks, although busy even mid-week. We did not try the cafe. The buildings are so impressive. Sitting in the church allows for you to clear your head - very peaceful.

Everytime we visit the Isle of Wight, this is our first stop! Pig heaven! You can stroll around the grounds, visit the art shop, church, cafe and gift shop. The cafe can get extremely busy so be prepared to wait. It's a wee bit pricey too. The queue for the toilets (2), at busy times can be quite long. Unfortunately the toilets are mixed too. But the pigs! Cute. Lovely and lots of piglets too!

We came with our adult daughter to the Isle of Wight for a break, and spent a few hours at Quarr. I was treated to a gluten-free scone and cream, which was really delicious. The Abbey Church was deeply peaceful, then we wandered down to the old Abbey ruins. It was the perfect opportunity to walk and talk.

A group of us went for morning coffee and a few of us stayed for lunch. Such a calming atmosphere. And I love seeing the pigs and piglets.

No place at the Inn for us. Even after arriving half an hour early. Queued for ages then got told they would open the doors so we could listen to the carols singing outside in the wind and rain. No where to sit. Disabled, on a walking stick. No thankyou. Very disappointed with the organisation.

Quiet and serene atmosphe. Free place to visit so great for an afternoon. There's a clean toilet, farm shop and some food to eat. The interior is also very nice

Thus place and its grounds are lovely. FREE entry (donations welcomed), lovely grounds to sit with a picnic, kids and dogs and enjoy meeting the pigs. The Abbey itself is stunning inside, we happened to visit when a service happened and the sound produced within the church was amazing. The farm shop had so much local produce and gifts in it...Great for coming home presents. The tea room was lovely also.

Lovely place to visit. I've been a few times when visiting family in IOW. This time I passed through while walking the IOW Coastal path. We called in the abbey to pay a visit. Lots of people were there for the Easter Sunday service. The art gallery, tea rooms etc were shut Easter Monday, however I've been to the tearoom on a previous visit and they are lovely. Well worth a visit. Also see the pigs!

Such a beautiful and serene scene. So lovely to take a break from the hustle and bustle to just breathe. All of the products are very well priced especially considering its all made locally. Also a fantastic spot to do some nature watching, we saw 3 red squirrels playing.

Great experience here, free entry with various different things to do. They have an interesting Abbey that you can explore and they also have pig pens with piglets in them. They also have a nice gift shop (where you can buy pig feed if you want to feed the pigs) and a nice cafe. I also spotted some red squirrels which was a huge plus!

Very unusual relatively (early 1900's) modern abbey. Unusually all brick built and very striking design. The monks are still present and we saw some working. There is a small museum which describes the Benedictine order of monks and history of the abbey Well worth a visit and it's free!!

Recommend everyone to visit this hidden gem. The abbey is tranquil and beautiful. There's a silence request when inside as respect for the abbey and the monk's. The cafe offer's good food and drinks but there are plenty of places to eat a picnic. The pig's are worth a visit too. There's food in the shop if you want to feed them as they're not allowed other foodstuffs.

Absolutely beautiful, there was an exhibition on when we went, lots of information about the baby and it's history, lovely walk down to the old ruins and finished of with a much needed coffee in the tea rooms... the cakes looked very tempting but I didn't partake
