We went round twice - you can exit and return within the same day. Small but perfectly formed - each exhibit was very well maintained and the staff were friendly and knowledgeable, and happy to chat about the fish. Some of the big exhibits are real showpieces and really stunning. Our toddler had a fantastic time.

Really nice aquarium, if you are in Bristol definitely worth visiting, there lots of different rooms with fishes, octopus, jellyfish, all the sea creatures, seahorse’s etc. It’s really relaxing to watch so many different fishes. If you get lucky you can see when they get fed and then they explain which fish or sea creature we can see up close. I went with my friend for first time and I loved my experience. Will come back here again at some point for sure.

Our visit to Bristol Aquarium was truly delightful. My 2 year old thoroughly enjoyed the experience, and personally, it marked the first time I witnessed the largest fish of my life. The highlight for me was the excitement of seeing a seahorse, fulfilling a childhood curiosity that began when I first learned about seahorses in textbooks. The aquarium's diverse marine life, including the impressive variety of fish, created a captivating and educational environment. The facility's well-curated exhibits and engaging displays made it an enjoyable outing for both kids and adults. I would wholeheartedly recommend Bristol Aquarium to anyone seeking a fascinating and family-friendly aquatic adventure.

So much fun! It was great to have a walk around the aquarium and learn about all the creatures there. We also managed to catch some of the feeding times, which was so cool!

Absolutely amazing aquarium. First time visit, very warm welcome. Explained where everything was, feeding times etc. Ticket was reusable for the day, so could come back later. Nice and clean. Well laid out. Reasonable price. Recommended for a visit.

My 2.5 year's old boy loved every second here. The ticket is valid for whole day which is great. We came back for the octopus feed. Very interesting and informative. So many beautiful tanks and plants. Staff are also really friendly.

Such a lovely experience! There were LOTS of cute animals to see (such as fish, frogs, sharks, and more😀) and it wasn't too busy when we went so we were able to look at each section in our own time. The tanks are huge too so all the animals look really happy😊 The underwater tunnels are super cool as well. Very fun day!!

There are some great exhibits here, but I was surprised how small it was. We went round it in 30 minutes (with two young kids). We ended up going round twice (you can go as many times as you like in one day on your ticket) I think the biggest fish here was a grouper, so don't expect to see any big animals. The biggest shark was no bigger than 2ft. So, what is there is great, but it didn't keep us occupied long and it was a bit disappointing that there wasn't more to see

Nice little aquarium for the kids to visit in the city Centre. It’s a bit pricey for tickets but Bristol isn’t a cheap city so not much you can do when you have kids. We did manage to finish it in just over an hour, so don’t expect a whole lot. Were some great sea creatures to see. Would be great for little kids and toddlers. If you’ve got a kid over 10, they would probably get less out of it.

This was an exotic experience.. from the large open tanks to the small aquariums..the spread is rich in greenery and well taken care of grounds..it is defined children friendly and depending on the time you visit you can experience them feeding the fishes. Though it's a small aquarium it is breathtaking experience

One of my favourite places to go for a day out in Bristol! The exhibits are always well maintained and very varied. The staff will always go above and beyond, and are always ready to share their knowledge. We saw a sting ray egg and even got to touch it. The staff member took the time to explain the difference between ray and shark eggs. Friendly interactions like this happen every time we go to the aquarium!

Great place to visit. The aquarium is brilliant - just the right size. Takes about an hour to two hours to look round. Well organised. Lots to look at and the tanks are very well done - small and large to very large. There's also a tunnel to walk through a tank and watch the fish which is brilliant. Educational as well with information plaques at each tank and an education section. Plenty to keep children (and adults!) occupied. The large tanks have a small seating area so you can sit and enjoy watching the fish. Easy access for pushchair and wheelchair alike. Cafe to eat and of course a gift shop. Recommend a visit.

A brilliant day out if you love sealife. Make sure you watch the feedings which are amazing as a lot of the fish, sharks and sting rays are trained to come to a platform for food. The staff are also super friendly and knowledgeable.

Beautiful and well kept aquarium. Fast entry and the staff are very friendly and helpful. They have a vast array of fish and we especially loved seeing the rays, shark feeding and watching the octopus. Overall a brilliant couple of hours out. Would highly recommend. Parking nearby at millennium square, but it is expensive.

Great few hours out, lovely aquariums and exhibits. Clean, tidy and helpful staff. Parking very close and amble food/drink venues in the area nearby. Visited since lockdown and lots of sanitation points aswell as a one way system in use. Also reduced customer numbers so nice and quiet when inside.

Me and my partner visited Bristol Aquarium, The receptionist was extremely helpful even when we had bags that were very heavy and we didn't want to carry them around the Aquarium, they offered to store them safe for us until our visit ended. The exhibits were incredible, and the new exhibits included, the different fish and the rain forest exhibit and dinosaur area was refreshing and it was nice to see a mix max of that along side fish. The information all around was helpful and quite interesting, and fact full . Very well decorated, and presented, beautiful flowers, the site shop and cafe were great. Highly recommended, great value for money

Great couple of hours out with the family, I think we paid £56.20 for a family of four. We went today which was the start of half term so we knew it was going to be busy. We queued for about 20 minutes outside in total but it seemed to go fast enough. Parking was a five minute walk away as well which was ideal. Once inside making our way around we had a great time. Some unusual fish to be seen and some great colourful ones too. We took a packed lunch and sat down on the provided seating area. Toilets dotted around the building which is ideal as well. All in all a great couple of hours of entertainment, there was a kids treasure hunt-like activity where you have to find the name of the 5 different things off a leaflet, after completing the kids get a cool little badge. All in all a great experience would recommend.

I wasn't as taken with this place as I'd hoped, probably due to the ambience and cost. The displays are large and you weave your way around from local shores to more tropical climes. It was hard to relax looking at some amazing fish with lots of screaming kids running around . If you want some peace, I'd recommend going on a week day or non school holiday . We were there for about an hour and a half and the cost was £36 for 2 adults . I'd say £18 was more appropriate. Highlight were these small sand eels/worms which were amazing.

Lovely aquarium. I took my almost 4 month old baby who loved looking at everything and was tracking all the fish moving around. There were some school groups which were very cute to watch going out. Decent selection of fish to see. It’s great that the ticket lasts all day so you could go back and do it more than once if you wanted!

Aquarium was great, big tanks with lots of different viewing windows, from above too (great for viewing stingrays!) My daughter is also learning about the environment and the rainforest which was all over the aquarium to learn about! We all had a great day and tickets last all day which means we can come and go how we please!

This is our second time visiting the Bristol Aquarium, and I loved our visit. We book ours online and then go to the information desk and get the electric ticket exchanged for a scannable ticket we can use all day. I found the gentlemen serving us excellent and helpful in explaining how things worked. We approached the gate, and in no time at all, we were able to go through. I was amazed by how each tank was wonderfully designed to be pleasing for the fish and the viewer. I felt some tanks were a little overpopulated, but I'm not a fish expert, so perhaps they need to have a lot of fish in a smaller tank. We went around three times, and I could enjoy each tank for as long as I wanted; it was very pleasing, and I could enjoy the whole experience, and I look forward to my future visits. I couldn't attend any feeding sessions, but I don't think you need to see them to enjoy the visit. Everything was super clean, and I think the only improvement I would ask for is better opening times because it's an all-day ticket. It's summer it would be lovely to have it open a little later to allow the customers to walk in and out as they please.

Don’t mean 3 stars as a slight. Basically, it was quite expensive considering the size. Our son was maybe too young (3yr) but we were done in less than an hour and we went around twice! Still, what was there was really great and the staff were excellent.

We went during the current (admittedly very quiet) climate, but the visit was lovely. Since there was barely anyone around, one of the staff (Aaron?) gave a very informative talk about the octopus Gloria, and stayed for a long while after answering our many questions and giving us interesting information about the fish in the Aquarium! Overall a fun outing!

Nicely structured aquarium with lots of species for fish lovers. It looks like a small one from outside, but actually its big. There is no car parking for aquarium, but you can find many private car parks nearby. The closing time is 4pm on weekdays which could have been extended till 6pm.

Amazing smaller Aquarium the kids can handle with just the right amount of fun and fantastic facts. Don't forget to wear NEON and WHITE for the black lit rooms, the kids will love it! A whispering secret... We didn't even bring the kids and went as 'Kids at Heart,' making it an amazing walk through and time to really explore. Fair pricing as well.

What a wonderful couple of hours! One of the best aquariums I have experienced. Despite my age, I have learnt so very much more than I thought I knew! The range of tanks and differing environments were amazing. The educational talks were fabulous and I found all the members of staff so friendly, positive, happy and knowledgeable. It is a small aquarium but exceptionally educational for all ages. Please try the virtual experience too, I went on the whale swim, it was astonishing! Thank you to all the team members for making my visit so memorable.

brilliant considering its age. feels more designed for children than adults, but that doesn't make it any less fun for all ages! the tickets felt fairly expensive, but it's worth knowing that is for all day access, so absolutely take all the time you want staring at every last tank. photos are almost a waste of time, take short videos instead. i left with an amazing album and great memories. if you are lucky enough for a staff member to be nearby, absolutely ask them politely if they have time for a question. you can expect a delighted and enthusiastic response.

Bristol Aquarium is a great place for the family. The kids loved it, and we really enjoyed it too. Some remarkable fish and turtles. Some huge, some tiny. Big tanks, and tanks with inserts that you can stick your head on, that we really enjoyed. I took pics of most of it, so take a peruse. There are a couple of places to park around if you're driving, but parking is quite pricey wherever you go. Entry is also about £19 each adult. Keep your ticket though as you can go on and out as much as you please throughout the day.

Really enjoyed my visit to the aquarium. Really impressed with the amount of aquatic animals being looked after here. Some really beautiful animals. Very informative. Lots to see. Animals treated well. Staff friendly. Clean and tidy. At first was a little put off by the price of £19.50 but once I'd finished I was really glad I paid it and visited. Really loved the turtles! 🐠🐡🐢

We came on Saturday morning to the aquarium. It was quite noisy and my daughter was wearing her ear defenders. The lovely lady behind the ticket desk explained that there was a party that's why it was so loud and explained that inside the aquarium it would be quieter and pointed out where their quieter space was if we needed. This meant a lot to me as not everyone is so understanding and helpful.

A really lovely aquarium in the heart of the city. It's a large aquarium with a number of different zones to explore, from British coast to marine reefs and mangroves. Huge selection of aquatic life. There is a sense of serenity sitting on bench watching the graceful glide of ray or a shark. Prices were reasonable, £20 for adults with concessions for students and grandparents. Can buy at the entrance or online. Cafe, gift shop and toilets available. Ticket is for the day and you can go around as often as you want on the day. Lovely place to spend a couple of hours. Keeper talks throughout the day. Just keep swimming!

Started out at the cafe. Reasonably priced, decent enough selection and quality of food and drink. Quite uncomfortable seating. Slight concern in that the disabled toilet door only opened about 40%, a wheelchair user would have issues accessing this. The staff were really friendly and helpful throughout the trip. Great that you can have multiple visits during the day! The aquarium was obviously well looked after. It was clean and nicely presented. Really enjoyed the variety and the different zones. And easy to get around as a perdon with mobility issues. I absolutely loved all of the environmental information and the plastic bottles in the exhibit looking like jellyfish was real food for thought. Weirdly, gift shop was one of the empiest I've been in. Overall, really good aquarium. There is of course room for improvement but they have perfected the basics beautifully.

The best part for me and the wife were the plants. The kids enjoyed climbing and going around in general. We have been meaning to tick this place off our list of places to visit with the kids. We were well excited and paid over £60. Frankly speaking, any of the Maindenhead aquariums will provide a better selection of fishes and viewing. Our experience was indeed epitome of underwhelming! Gutted! Annoyed with the pricing the most! Does not reflect on the value nor experience. Again, I would go as far as saying epitome of rip-off! It's true value is no more than £15 for a family, few pounds per person at the very best. Wouldn't recommend it at all. My in-house natural aquarium aquaescape is far more interesting, and I probably have as many fishes as they do per fresh water fish collection.

Really interesting place with some large tanks and lovely creatures to watch. Seeing the different types of ray, big piranhas, turtles, sharks and an array of other cool fish and sea creatures was fascinating. We had an enjoyable day wandering around plus a lovely lunch in their cafe (which was a reasonable price thanks to the government's half price scheme, but would have been a rip off otherwise, although that's usually expected in places like this). I was unable to give 5 stars due to the octopus. They had a video playing describing how intelligent these amazing animals are, then they had a large octopus in a tank that was far too small for it and offered it little room to move. Most of the place seemed really good but this one animal stood out for me as wrong and spoiled the day somewhat.

Quite a small aquarium for the price however the outside parts were a nice change to the aquariums we've been to in the past and the water of the tanks were amazingly clean and brighton enough to see the fish inside (other aquariums we've been to have been quite dark and made vision tricky with reflecting tank glass!) didn't take us long to get around unfortunately and it was quite busy in there with many people not distancing themselves making it awkward for others but, our toddler enjoyed himself and at the end of the day that's all what matters!

Great place for a short visit maybe a few hours tops but certainly couldn't spend a whole day in there, plus side was upon entry you recieved a hand stamp to allow you back in all day. Wonderful aquarium with lots to see! We went about two weeks ago and it was lovely and quiet. Even with the one way system, we didn't feel rushed or like we needed to hurry. There are plenty of hand sanitiser stations to help you keep safe too. They have some very pretty tanks here too and there's so much to see. All in all, a great few hours.

We went as a couple, reasonably priced in comparison to other aquariums out there, staff we very nice and clearly cared a lot about the animals, lots to see and definitely recommend seeing the octopus. We had a really nice time - highly recommend if you're in the area.

Aquariums are like marmite, you either love them or hate them and nobody will change your mind. As aquariums go, this is pretty good -- I prefer it to the one in London.

Love going to aquariums and really enjoyed our time here. It's just a little expensive given it's size. But staff are friendly and helpful.

  • 4/5 Chris B. 3 years ago on Google
Wonderful, informative exhibits. Staff were friendly but respectful of social distancing rules. Covid guidelines generally well followed. I consider it to be a bit on the expensive side as it's a 1.5-2hr visit sort of place but otherwise no other complaints.

Personally, I found it over priced for the length of stay and number of exhibits

Saw some new things compared to the Birmingham one so it was pretty cool, enjoyed my stay. Social distancing is tricky considering it's not supervised but when I went there were no people at all so that wasn't an issue.

Sad to say that this place is a waste of time. The pictures look great online but inside is a major disappointment. Charged £16.50 each for an adult and it took us 30 minutes to walk around. When you compare to Plymouth Aquarium and other places, this really is a poor show. Save yourself the money! Also the giant octopus looks so unhappy and the tank is tiny and there is nothing in there he can use to build anything and has to sleep exposed, which they don’t do in their natural habitat. Tragic.

Great place for kids & adults alike, there’s a lot fishes and sea creatures to discover! Plus - inside is warm and humid, with a lot of tropical plants and there are other things to see not just fish, a great day out!

Talk about city centre this aquarium couldn’t be any more central if it tried. The are it’s based is a lovely space with lots to do. The aquarium itself is modern and well designed with a shipwreck theme running through it. Some nice little touches with the outdoor (still undercover) sections with lots of tropical plants, lots of facts dotted around.we went towards the end of the day and we only saw 2 staff and they were rush around. The place is clean and tidy but small. We had 2 children with us 7 & 2 and even with zig zag viewing and back tracking at points it only took us 30 mins tops to go around. If it was busier I could see it taking longer but over all the aquarium is small. Think it’s priced a little high for the size and experience offered.

A fantastic day out in a fascinating aquarium! Each tank is clean, filled and open with plenty of space for the animals, with information all over the place and plenty of chances to experience the life filling the place from top to bottom! Your tickets will last the whole day too, amazing for those who want to go around again to see their favourites! Amazing day out for kids to get lost in the world around them!

Easily located, plenty of things to spot and check out. Very informative, and interesting, talks offered by staff. However, no one present at time of departure so was unable to purchase anything from the gift shop.

Attended today at the aquarium with my 2 boys (5 and 2 years old). They LOVED spotting all of the fish and seeing what amazing things the aquarium had to offer. There's plenty to see for them (at their height) and a lot for the adults to see too. Unfortunately some of the displays can't be seen by my children as they had to be lifted (only about 3 displays to be fair). Hand sanitiser is still available around the facilities and everything was clean and tidy upon exploring the aquarium and their facilities. The lunch options were fairly priced and my boys were happy with the selection offered. Staff were all friendly and attentive, irrespective of being busy (we were also informed that we could visit the aquarium as many times as we liked for the day, even if we left the venue!) Will definitely be visiting again!

Nice place a bit to overcrowded for me, just seemed to be waiting in line for ages but otherwise it was ok! There wasn't much there i don't think for the money you pay i thought it would have been a bit cheaper! Even the toys in the shop was expensive compared to what you could pay on line for it would I go back NO

It is an excellent place to visit especially with kids. Stunning views of marine life. They have a huge variety. It is no less than London or Birmingham Aquariums.

Our recent visit to Bristol Aquarium was great!! This is a really well kept aquarium, the tanks were all very clean looking and had some amazing and inventive decoration! The vast array of exhibits has something for everyone, from ‘sunken ships’ to bright coral reefs. The rainforest exhibits are amazing. With massive aquariums containing some huge fish and rays where adults and children alike can get up close and personal with the tanks inhabitants. Bristol aquarium is well worth a visit!

I had such a wonderful experience with my family at this aquarium. I’ve been several times now and it’s always great. The displays are amazing and there’s such a variety of sea life. I love the feeding shows which were very interactive. Staff were very kind and knowledgable and happy to answer questions. Highly recommend.

Lovely place some parts were lovely and calm. Very beautiful fish. The only thing is we expected it to be bigger really. 2 tanks were quite large but the rest is quite small. We had a lovely hour there but there's not much to do after that.. and almost £60 for an hour was a bit much.

Good visit if you have small children who will enjoy and find educational. As an adult am afraid wasn't greatly impressed, perhaps as we visited on a Monday morning and there were groups of children visiting at the same time which made getting close and viewing some of the tanks hard. Perhaps going back to the timed phases of entry as they did during the covid pandemic would be a good idea to implement as the norm.

This Aquarium is fabulous! So many sea creatures to see in pristine tanks. Lots of information available for everyone. Feeding time is a must! The children can learn so much about our seas! A definite visit if you go to Bristol!

Absolute lovely place. Went on a Thursday so was quieter than the normal weekends. Very diverse and never bored with the fun facts and puns. The exhibits are very beautiful including many different plants

First time at this aquarium with my son for a day out from Weston-super-Mare. Staff are very welcoming when approached, lots of different species of fish. From coral reefs to tropical rainforest, loads of information for the kids to learn about each fish. My son loved the underwater tunnel and the main tank which looks like a shipwreck. Prices are fair for entrance fee but you can come and go as like as the ticket is an all day ticket which is a really good idea If you like to return later on. Highly reccomended for a family day out to Bristol or an afternoon trip. Thank you for the experience.

Loved it! Love the way it wasn't all fish....liked the rain forest and amazon jungle parts and the informative signs about types of trees/plants. Also loved the fact you could come and go on your ticket all day.

A delightful visit with an abundance of creatures to view meandering around. I liked how clean and well presented the area, as well as professional and friendly staff. I'd highly recommend going here if you're in Bristol and looking for something to do! Family friendly, and there are great resources for children and adult alike wanting to learn about what they see.

We went for my daughters birthday and had the best morning, I have no idea where the time went. I feel at this point I need to say my daughter was 40 🤣 and it was 6 adults that went, we all had the best time. There is so so much to see. Bristol was a lovely place and the aquarium was an added feature it was also very reasonably priced

Lovely place! Lots of fish! Information on fish and you can come and you go as you please so you can re enter for the whole day aslong as you have your ticket, which is perfect if you are feeling overwhelmed!

This Aquarium was a really nice surprise. They have a beautiful tropical fish tank which is what I enjoyed the most. When I visited there was a very helpful member of the team explaining some of the characteristics of the archer fish a species know for their unique hunting tactics. It's not very big (it took us 2 hours to see it all in detail) but definitely worth a visit! They also have some exotic frogs and plants

Good aquarium, not 100% sure why you get a load of dinosaurs too, but who doesn't like dinosaurs! Nicely laid out, good selection of big and small fish. As a day out, it would only be a couple of hours, but you can leave and go back if you want to over the same day. No option to gift aid and go back for a year like a lot of other attractions.

  • 5/5 UDOKA D. 6 months ago on Google
I went there with the kids for a family fun day out, and it was so much fun. And it’s pram-friendly; I would definitely recommend it here on a rainy day, as the kids will enjoy it.

Note the address is Anchor Road but the entrance is not obvious as on the side that is not on the road, a signpost would help…? Visited during the summer holidays with disabled wife on mobility scooter and grandchildren, carer is free. True to the advise on the website the site is disabled accessible for the mobility scooter as is all ramped boardwalks and or level. I think if it was busy it might have been difficult to get close to the exhibits. Loads of fish and the other things you would expect, good views into the tanks from the top, the side and great views from the tunnel. I would suggest that under 5’s will not have the attention to benefit and there is no space for running about. Reception/ticket area needs renovation, no low sinks for children in toilets, cafe closed at 16:00 while there were plenty of potential customers… Overall good.
