Was very tasty, will definitely be back, the bed was among the best I've had (would have went a little heavier with the horseradish, but that's my preference), the pork fat was like butter and the squid was Unbelievable. Our only complaint is a bottle of water. We asked for a picture of water and were brought a out a bottle. It was already open and poured straight into our glasses without any further questions. We assumed that this was maybe just the done thing at Shu, but then the table next to ours was brought out a picture. We Explained the miscommunication and were then brought out tap water. The bottled water was warm and really didn't taste any different than the tap water, which was colder than room temperature at least. When the bill came we found that the unwanted, warm bottle was £4.50. If you're going to charge that much for a bottle of water, it should at least be chilled. Rather than complain we just took the cost out of what would have been left as a tip. We will be back eventually as the food was delicious, but will be very clear when asking for water that we want a jug of cold tap-water, not a £5 bottle that's been kept in the heat of the kitchen, and opened and poured into our glasses before we have a chance to explain the misunderstanding.

When we arrived at the restaurant we were one of the last reservations. So the restaurant was really full. We seated to a not very enjoyable table and I asked the manager if we could move to any better. The manager was very polite and he moved us immediately to a very nice table. It was very pleasant. The atmosphere was nice and the place is very well decorated. However it was bit noisy for the style of restaurant it is. The ladies next to us were bit drunk and they were noisy… The food was very delicious, the slow cooked beef was excellent. Sadly the portions were very small. That was something I didn’t really enjoyed. I know that places with gourmet food rarely have big portions, but I think that portions here were much smaller than the average. The wine was very nice and in a very good temperature, I really enjoyed it. The prices were reasonable. Concluding, I would say that the overall experience was good, the food was tasty but I would enjoyed it more if the portions were bit bigger.

Definitely my best meal ever in Belfast. All the courses are wonderfully delicious. The staff is great, kind and accessible, very professional. Only 2 things to improve, it is lightly too hot in the room and the waiting between the courses is a bit long but still ok. The prices are lower than same quality restaurants in France. 5 stars absolutely deserved.

Unfortunately my high hopes for Shu were not met. Having lived a mere ten minute walk away for over a year and walking past it several times a week, my partner and I finally said we would go in. We booked to go on our anniversary as we'd heard about it being a good place to go for special occasions. However, the staff made us feel more like a burden than anything else. It was obvious a member of staff was new and, whilst trying her best, was affecting their dynamic. Even towards the end, I received an incredibly rude look by the individual handing me the card machine when paying for the meal and opting not to include a tip. Once I retrieved a cash tip, however, the scowl left his face, but I felt at that point it wasn't warranted. Either staff need to be paid more instead of relying on tips or they need to fix their attitudes because it really ruined my evening. I was also fairly underwhelmed by the food. It wasn't anything special. Both my partner and I had ordered the beef, but weren't asked how we would like it cooked which resulted in it being to neither of our tastes. The included sides of roast potatoes and seasonal vegetables didn't arrive with the main, but rather two minutes later, which we noticed to be a pattern amongst all of the tables. It left people confused as to what was actually included with their meals and was then met with annoyed faces. i want to add that our seasonal veg was actually incredibly tough and as if it hadn't been cooked properly. I began this review as a three star but have now marked it down to two as I just can't fathom giving it a higher rating than that. For what is made out to be a high-standard restaurant, I felt the service fell below par and the food itself was substandard in parts. Very disappointed overall.

Very good quality Lisburn Road restaurant. Excellent service and great food. Surprisingly there’s a little speakeasy vibe bar in the basement. One of the highlights on the culinary map of Belfast.

The food was great. A real treat. We had a bread basket to share and opted to skip starters, instead going for a main of beef and a main of lamb with a side of chips. We were seated quickly but sadly that's where the service dipped. It took quite some time for our order to be taken, and when it was we waited a further 10-15mins before receiving pesto and butter but with no bread. After a 5 minute wait, during which time the table next to us had both ordered and received theirs (despite arriving after us too) we asked for the bread again and it arrived a few minutes later. Unfortunately we hadn't finished the selection of bread before the mains arrived due to the delay in getting the bread initially. As mentioned the food was great, without any complaints from us. The table next to us wasn't as pleased and complained of it being cold, and sent it back. In hindsight some of my lamb selections were cold, but being a relative food novice I'd assumed it supposed to be like that. It was still delicious. Overall wouldn't go back. Would recommend only on the basis of excellent food, but service was a let down so couldn't recommend overall.

Food was lovely and the service was warm and friendly. My partner's lamb was very good, he said, and my miso glazed aubergine was umami. Dessert was gorgeous too. Time between courses was okay. I've had better cocktails, however, and there was too much ice for my preference (especially since they're £10 each). We weren't provided our bread basket. We did see a waiter come over to our area with a bread basket only to walk away with it, then shortly after our main was served by someone else, so by the time they remembered they were too late. A bit slow to wait for our bill but it was busy to be fair. From sit down to bill it took 1hr 30 for 2 courses.

Took a friend here for their birthday lunch. Had not been to Shu in well over a decade. Lovely decor and a nice welcome. The menu was varied and food delicious including beef tartare for starter, slow cooked lamb for main and pistachio and olive oil cake for dessert which was a revelation. At the end, asked for the bill and the waitress said she would get it but no rush to us to have to get up and leave now we were finished which was nice. Don't know why I hadn't been here in so long but I will definitely come back.

Best dinner we've had in [Northern] Ireland! Excellent duck, excellent lamb, excellent accompaniments, great wine pairing recommendation, and wonderful service. Thank you!

Great service and an interesting menu - lunch a la carte is certainly worth your time. Ox cheeks with pasta and Pernod onions, confit duck leg with the smoothest mash imaginable and caramelised kale, and a wickedly indulgent chocolate ganache with almonds and miso. Wines are a tad overpriced for what they are but a great experience.

A friend took us to Shu whilst we were visiting him in Belfast, this is his go to restaurant and once you walk in, you could understand why. Decoration is simple, settings are comfortable and light, the menu is not over complicated and the staff are very friendly. The food is excellent, though with the steaks that we ordered, they hadn't quite cooked them quite right, still they gave us a a free dessert. I would certainly head back and try if I am in Belfast again.

Very good food, more of a fine bistro though, rather than fine dining. Thus, prices too high for food/menu on offer i.e fried chicken and Panna Cotta

What a lovely restaurant. We stumbled across this place and glad we did! Excellent food. Great service, just the right amount of attentiveness. Probably the best desert I've ever had too!

I was invited to a dinner at Shu two weeks ago. We had a nice round of drinks followed by starters, main course and dessert. The main course (palaice fish) was the best and I highly recommend it! The onion parfait starter was the next best. Dessert (apple caramel meringue something) was too sweet for my liking. The place was a bit loud that night. Our server was extremely nice though!

Another fabulous meal at Shu. Service was professional and attentive without being overbearing. I had the squid to start, chicken & risotto as a main and panacotta for pudding. All three dishes were incredible and without fault. A lovely experience, I’ll be sure to return soon.

Lovely food... but too, and I mean too, noisey... made it fell like an American diner .. the booths didn't help either. Gorgeous food... ambience !

Shu restaurant was superb on Saturday night. The meal was wonderful and the staff were very attentive, friendly and very efficient. The atmosphere was fantastic and the whole evening was absolutely amazing. I would recommend this restaurant to anyone and everyone. A truly wonderful experience.

Shu was a real treat. The interior is gorgeous. Our server was fab, she introduced herself, and looked after us well, and made great well informed suggestions. A couple of things that could be improved on, my friend had coffee and I had tea both served in coffee cups, please use proper cups for tea. And the delicious dessert in a little dish was served with a huge spoon... The food was really good... highly recommended 👌

I can be hard to please when I eat out, but the food we were served this evening in Shu i can honestly say was the best I have had for as long as I can remember. Every dish, every course was an unimaginable and exquisite treat for my taste buds. The service was equally spectacular, with courteous and attentive staff who couldn't do enough for us. Hats off to everyone at Shu, we had a beautiful evening.

Beautiful dining room. Classy and nice atmosphere. Food was a real disappointment. Squid was undercooked and chewy. The lamb was tiny and tough - actually incurable for the two of us who had it. Chips were dry and hard! Such a shame as we loved it here in the past.

Honestly the most delicious meal out I've had in a long time. Definitely by far the best I've had in Belfast. Service was great and staff were extremely friendly. A lovely, welcoming atmosphere and, while it's pricey, it didn’t feel at all overpriced. Couldn't recommend highly enough

Had a wonderful experience at Shu yesterday evening. Lovely fit out and it’s balanced internal layout leads to a vibrant atmosphere. One of the best lamb dishes I have had and the service was second to none. Cocktails and the DJ downstairs afterwards helped dance off the food. Highly recommend this classy restaurant

There a warm Christmassy welcome from a well trained and most attentive staff. The food was totally delicious I had the moist pork dish which was accompanied by a whole range of seasonal veg. A most enjoyable lunch...thank you

I had the pleasure of dining in this fantastic restaurant over the weekend. I had dined here last year and couldn't wait to return. It is, for me, in the top three best restaurants in Belfast. This restaurant never disappoints and is consistent in terms of the quality of its food and service, which is always top notch. I was with a party of four and when we arrived, we were met with a friendly welcome from the Manager (Jamie) and quickly shown to our table. The restaurant was very busy and had a lovely atmosphere. I have to commend the waiter who served our table. The service was impeccable! He was extremely knowledgeable in terms of the food/menu and made an excellent wine recommendation for our party. Even though the restaurant was very busy, he was very attentive and friendly throughout the evening without being overbearing and kept our wine glasses full. The food - what can I say - as always, it was sublime! Each course was beautifully presented and elaborated and we were given just the right amount of time between each course to digest and never felt rushed. The menu is varied (one of our party is vegan and the menu had good options for her). I had the salt & chilli squid for starter (which is a firm favorite for me) and the slow cooked lamb which was cooked to perfection. Simply delicious!! A truly amazing dining experience from start to finish and I cannot wait to return! Bravo SHU!

Food was good but service was slow with long wait between courses and no acceptable explanation given just that they were very busy and plating of main course depends on when starters are cleared. This did not explain why two groups who had arrived after us had orders taken before we did or why they had finished mains long before ours arrived. A shame really because staff were pleasant and food was good when it arrived.

Unfortunately the food doesn't anywhere near live up to the premium prices the restaurant charges. A large group of us went and out of a large variety of orders, no dish stood out and most of them were bland. Service is good, they've invested a lot into the building and interiors, but the creativity and delivery of the chef's is definitely lacking for a restaurant that prices itself amongst the elite of the city

Springsteen’s is always busy. Why is that, CAUSE THE GREAT ATTENTIVE ( but not intrusive) STAFF. The food is always great. You want a great breakfast but don’t know what you want - NO PROBLEM - lots of choice in the menu at great prices.

A pleasant environment to enjoy a lovely evening! I liked the Korean chicken starter very much!

Very pleasant experience. Staff are attentive & friendly, and the decor is modern & clean. Jerusalem artichoke to start was the highlight of the night. Lamb for main was very tasty, partner got the blade of beef which was heavy on the mustard for both our tastes. Will definitely be back to try more of the menu.

Went to Shu on a team day out and had a three course meal. Food was amazing, and the portions not too big just enough to allow me enjoy and finish each course, which I rarely get to do in a restaurant with bigger portions. Staff were very pleasant and food arrived with appropriate timings between each course. I will definitely be back.

Really good food! We visited on a Sunday evening. Service was attentive and casual. We ordered the chicken gochujang and gnocchi from the regular menu and oyster mushrooms and cauliflower dish from the vegan menu. The vegan dishes were the best we have had in S. and N. Ireland. Highly recommend!

I was really looking forward to trying this restaurant and I wasn't disappointed. The only thing I would have to say is to have more flavours going on the plate. Adam was amazing, such a lovely gentleman and a credit to Shu a very professional service! Also Carlos was very attentive and very professional. What lovely staff they have at Shu.
