I can't recommend Killiekrankie House enough. Tom and Matilda were fantastic hosts, very friendly and engaging, and Niall in the bar and all the other staff were lovely to talk to. The meal was phenomenal - not only delicious, but quirky and fun as well, with a really interesting drinks pairing. All the ingredients were locally sourced, often grown in the house's garden, and clearly took a lot of imagination to create. I'd highly recommend sitting at the chef's counter, where Tom takes you through the menu and you can watch the chefs preparing your next dish. The master suite was also great, really spacious with a big bath and a comfortable bed. Will definitely be back!

My partner and I dined at Tom and Matilda's restaurant and we were warmly welcomed into a beautiful lounge with champagne. We had the tasting menu. The local ingredients were meticulously entwined to create delicate yet complex flavours, served with a Japanese influence in a beautiful kitchen-facing dining room with vinyl playing cosily. This restaurant truly deserves the best restaurant in Scotland award it recently received. I'm surprised Michelin hasn't awarded it with at least one star. We will definitely return.

Had a wonderful evening here at the end of September. Service, atmosphere food and drinks were all incredible. One of the best meals we have had. Love the fusion of local ingredients with Japanese flavours. Little touches, like staff choosing records to play during the evening, and them displaying the covers next to the record player, made it even more special. Very glad we booked a few months before it was awarded Scottish Restaurant of the year. It totally deserves it.

All the other reviews at Killiecrankie cover the bases extremely well, so I won't repeat them. Just to add, at one point Tom asked me if I enjoyed a particular course and I replied "It was fantastic", his response was "That good ?". Truth be told, it was that good, the relaxed atmosphere, the food, the matching wines and the room were all fantastic. I can't recommend this place highly enough.

Amazing accommodations and wonderfully attentive service. It will be an experience hard to surpass- the dinner and drinks were probably the best we’ve had. Our hosts were knowledgeable and warm. Only wish we lived nearby to visit more frequently. Don’t skip the breakfast!

This was our second stay. The dining experience was phenomenal again. The staff are amazing, so knowledgable, helpful and friendly. The bed is the best in the world. The garden looks glorious. Congratulations on winning Scottish restaurant of the year. Can’t wait to come back again. Xx

We had an excellent and memorable evening at the Killiecrankie House, trying the tasting menu and wine pairing. We arrived later than planned due to traffic but Matilda, Tom and the team were so accommodating and worked hard to ensure we had the full dining experience, even with limited time. The menu showcased Scottish ingredients (some sourced from the restaurant’s own garden), prepared creatively and often with a Japanese twist. Each course was full of interesting, well-considered flavours without trying to do too much at once. Music on the record player, the staff’s modern outfits and the lack of starched white tablecloths made us feel comfortable but the presentation and care that went into each dish and corresponding wine made the experience special. The Scottish-themed cocktails were a fun way to end the evening. In short, the Killiecrankie House is a breath of fresh air - fine dining without the pretence. Treat yourself and book a table, you will be thinking about the food for days!

Went to the restaurant for the taster menu with wine paring and non-alcoholic paring. We arrived late due to traffic carnage on A9 but were greeted by staff as we arrived which was nice. We were shown directly to our table and made comfortable with some water before being served our first drinks. The marmalade syrup drink was fabulous and and the wine kept up a high standard. The food was fun, adventurous, local where possible and the drinks certainly did complement the food well. We were there for 2 hours, which wasn’t bad for 8 courses. It was interesting to see the chefs prepare the food but it wasn’t a public performance more a look at what was coming next. The scotch eggs were put in a steam oven and when they were brought out the steam flowed along the ceiling. Quite a nice effect . We certainly enjoyed it and staff were very friendly and explained every drink and dish as you would expect. Enjoyable day. Parking was easy and coming from Pitlochry the sign for the restaurant easy to spot as a big wooden board.
