Absolutely amazing vegan chicken sandwich. The burgers and stuff looked good too, but I was so pleasantly surprised to see multiple veggie and vegan options, and would run back to get the chicken burger again. Cute atmosphere and nice staff as well!

Amazing food, great beer. I felt like I was back in US at one of my favorite beer pubs with great food. I feel it’s really hard to find good beer bars that also serve great food but this place totally surprised me. I highly recommend their burgers and beers. Worth the extra calories you consume but hey, you can always burn it off later ;)

This is my favourite burger in Edinburgh. There isn't much choice when it comes to food, but that is its strength. Incredible quality delicious well thought out food. Everything on the plate was delicious. The beer selection was also excellent, but you don't need to be a beer drinker to enjoy a meal here. The food can definitely speak for itself. 100% recommended I will return whenever I am in the area fancying a burger.

Goats on tap! 😀 Took the kid for a burger for lunch today after a wet walk, "this burger is a 9.5 out of 10" Update (because Google insisted): It's still an awesome bar and bottle shop. Update 2: Still an awesome little bar. Needs a crossover with Holy Goat to be on tap though, a Salty Goat, if you will 🐐 Update 3 just because: the beer is awesome the staff are brilliant and friendly. Great place to meet up with friends or pop in for a quiet beer after a dog walk. Update 4, Google keeps asking. Still an awesome bar.

Came to try the awesome selection of beers but was blown away by the food! Pulled pork burger, chips and wings were all top notch!

I can’t recommend this place enough. When my brother was visiting Edinburgh from abroad, this is THE burger shop on my list that I wanted to introduced to him. We had three burgers plus beers, just delicious and it was easily become my brother’s favourite burger in the UK.

I haven’t expected pub burger can be delicious. B.B.B is seriously super great! Wings (BBQ sauce) are great as well. We tried 4 different beers, they were great too! Just I don’t recommend chips with sauce menu. Just go for normal chips.

First of all- The Salt Horse is off the beaten path of The Royal Mile so it's away from all the crowds! We were greeted instantly and sat right away. We did arrive right at the time of opening though, which was perfect. Our beer guru was very friendly and knowledgeable- giving my husband advice and steering him in the right direction to what he fancied. I was pleased to discover they also have wine! The tables are family style and there are super cute wine bottle candles all over the place. It's a perfect setting to a windy, Edinburgh day. We ordered some chips as a snack and there are even board games to play!

Great little place. Was pretty busy when we turned up without a reservation but they managed to fit us in somewhere. I came here on the strength of recommendations for great burgers and wasn't disappointed. I had a spicy chicken burger that hit the spot. Not the absolute best I've ever had but very, very good. This place is equal parts sandwich/burger bar and bottle shop. Had a long list of beers to try and a few nice alternative choices on draught too.

Great bar for craft beer and quality bar food. Visited today and found a good range of beer, with 12 taps offering different styles of beer. There was also a well stocked fridge with plenty to offer. Had lunch and we were impressed with the range of burgers and sandwiches on offer. I had the smokey chicken burger and it was clucking great. Will visit again when in Edinburgh.

It took a really long time to get seated, have our orders taken, and then served. We weren't allowed to order at the bar and had to wait over an hour to get our food from when we stepped in the door. Some of the staff was friendly. The burgers and chips were tasty overall, but be aware, they are small. I'm not a fan of small, expensive burgers. Maybe some are.

Very cozy spot for a well made Burger and if you love beer its great. Really enjoyed the local selections of beer here from Edinburgh. They will have multiple beers that will fit you for sure. The hamburgers were like I said great and the fries too. Tried the Bowhouse and added some Chicken Gyro dirty fries. So good!!

Amazing place! Had the Chili Burger and Newbarns Pale Ale - both were delicious and just an awesome way to start the week / cap the weekend. Would have taken pictures but devoured everything 🤤 Staff were sweet and attentive and atmosphere was super cozy. Highly recommend 🙏🏼

Had a lovely evening here during a recent trip to Edinburgh. Fantastic large beer selection, a craft beer lovers dream! We had burgers, fries and cauli wings, food was delicious. I’m really sad I don’t live more locally because I would be ordering that vegan burger all the time. The guy who served us was lovely, really friendly chap, and intimate atmosphere was perfect for a date night. Will be recommending to all our friends, and will definitely be back ourselves on our next trip to Edinburgh!

A little disappointed unfortunately. I had high expectations for this place but they weren’t met. Severely understaffed with only ONE person working! He ended up doing a very good job seeing as he was so busy, so could understand that we didn’t feel particularly welcomed.. not the normal type of service you receive at these craft beer venues (not in my experience anyway). The tap list was average and they were out of some cans. Quite pricey too. The burger was really good but that too was expensive. Overall, it’s one of my least favourite craft venues I’ve visited over the last 6 months in Europe and for goodness sake, put some more staff on to lighten the load!

Super chill and cozzy environment. Great selection of Brit and Scottish crafts. The food is also amazing, perfect to pair with your beer. The staff is awesome, friendly at all time. A must when in Edinburgh. 🍻

A good craft bar with a decent selection on, there is also a place nextdoor that is the same place & has fridges of cans. The guy serving us was very friendly & helpful.

Fantastic craft beer shop with great quality food. Staff were super lovely and very knowledgeable. We were in the bar side and I was really impressed you could pop next door and choose from the big selection in the shop to drink in the bar. Food was all great quality, bags of flavour and well priced. If you like craft beer this is well worth a stop.

Love this wee place. Cosy and relaxing, chilled music, friendly staff, and table service too. Always a good selection of dark beers, plenty of choice in the shop and the food is seriously good. Pulled pork fries were out of this world and the chicken wings are delish.

Been coming here every time I’m in Edinburgh for work, and it’s one of my favorites. I love the chill small brewpub vibe. Love the variety of beers. Today I tried the cauliflower bombs with buffalo sauce and they were delicious. Always a great experience whenever I’m here.

Honestly one of the best burger places! Amazing food great quality and super affordable! The only reason I put 4 stars is because I didn't feel very welcome. I went upstairs to order my second burger as I super enjoyed the first and I said to the guy who served me how amazing was the burger. He didn't even looked at me and he just asked me what I would like. I just think that this place will definitely deserve my fifth star if the work a bit with their hospitality and welcoming people! I definitely recommend a visit as the food is great.
