Beckside Books is a hidden treasure: I'm almost reluctant to share it. It covers two floors so what seems like a tiny shop unfolds to reveal more and more books. It even has a little reading snug upstairs where you can make a drink for a donation.

Lovely shop with seats to read and even a tea and coffee making station! Always find good books here.

Brilliant little book shop that is great for browsing. Si fi section and spiritual are our favourite sections. But they have good selection of local history and history books to. Small selection of children's upstairs. Some books are very cheap others mid range but everyone should visit this shop at least once. Needs more books by Kevin J Anderson though!

A second hand bookshop on 2 floors. Comfy sofas dotted about make you want to sit a peruse good book. Books are competitively priced to undercut Amazon which can't be a bad thing.

Of all the secondhand bookshops I have known Beckside in Penrith is the one of the best. Its range is impressive and, best of all, it's owner really knows and cares deeply about the world of books. Irvine Hunt

Such a lovely shop to browse (check out the nook upstairs) and full of surprise items. Lots of Folio Society books, too.
