I haven't stayed but my daughter does her riding lessons here. She loves it and they are so good with the kids. It's always busy with guests and there is an onsite bistro which is lovely. Paul , Maureen and all the staff can't do enough for you.

Just off the castle-to-castle tour and already missing it and the wonderful team who made us feel like family. This is an epic adventure across breathtakingly gorgeous countryside. The center has curated an extraordinary route through expansive rolling hills, lush forests, and streets of historic villages that makes for an ever changing landscape. The excellent accommodations, scrumptious meals, and overall hospitality is served up with warmth and good humor to boot. The horses are especially well trained and cared for. The team is deft at managing the unexpected events one might expect on a five day trip with so many moving parts - weather, roadways, guest personalities, horse personalities, meals, hotel rooms, transfers, and so on. This is a top notch, family-run, operation that has a complex undertaking down to a science all so that we, the guests, can have the time of our lives. I’m guessing those who will most enjoy this experience are horse and nature lovers who understand the ups and downs (literal and figurative!) of an outdoor adventure and appreciate mud on their boots and jacket at end of the day. This was a bucket list trip of a lifetime for me. It exceeded my expectations!

A warm welcome from Maureen. Very helpful. The room was tastefully decorated and clean. The breakfast was excellent. The points against were for the doors, which banged loudly. My wife couldn't close the bathroom door. The bed (although it was nicely dressed) was uncomfortable. We checked - it had a mattress topper, but the mattress was practically flat when you laid on it. Of course we can't speak for every room.

The Castles Trail ride is simply the quintessential dream vacation for any horse-loving equestrian. From the moment you are welcomed to the facility by the proprietors Maureen and her son Paul, you feel like you are part of a family. The food and accommodations were consistently great throughout the week wherever we stayed. When I forgot something at one of the hotels, it was handled with humor and grace which I am so grateful for. A week full of riding the borders takes a tremendous amount of coordinating and logistics, but with over 3 decades of experience Maureen and her team provide a smooth and efficient experience through every step of the journey. The ride itself through the Scottish Borders is simply idyllic. One is immersed in the natural beauty of Scotland while riding a well-trained horse that you have been carefully matched with based on your riding ability. The private tour of Traquair Castle was one of the many historical highlights of the trip. I will treasure the friendships and memories I made on this trip for the rest of my days. The only downside to the week was departing with a bittersweet goodbye this morning after a truly unforgettable week.

An amazing trip. Maureen and her team are extremely professional and yet so warm, caring for the guests, the horses, the overall atmosphere. Everything from matching the horses to the riders, to the complicated yet si smooth logistics was incredibly well thought out. I now feel part of this incredible big family, what an honor. It was beyond all my expectations. And the scenery of each of the ride was breath taking and diverse. I can’t praise the Castle Trail ride enough. Thanks Maureen, Paul, Gillian, Emma, Cerys, and everyone else who participated to the success of our holidays! Wow!

I'm 2hrs into a 6/7 day stay here and I feel more than happy to share my thoughts about my experience so far. Now, me being moreorless a complete begginer at the ripe old age of 47, and male, I was a little nervous to say the least as its probably been maybe 2 years since I had my first lesson and lets face it, most people my age would probably say "have you lost your marbles" or "what are you doing, thats for girls" kind of comments. After a very welcoming check in, and getting myself comfy in my room, I was straight onto a horse so that the staff (Niamh) could see what I was capable of etc. I felt comfortable and not as nervous as when I arrived. I've been looking forward to this and I thoroughly believe I'm going to enjoy every minute of my stay here. More to come at the end of my stay when hopefully Google will allow me to edit 😊

Stayed several times, as my son keeps his horse here. Facilities as good as usual.

We came for the week long spa & castle horse riding trail and absolutely loved it ! Staff was very welcoming and nice, venue was great and food delicious ! Our horses were perfectly matched to our personalities and the guides knew perfectly what they were doing. We felt safe the whole time on our horses. I highly recommend! Thanks Maureen, Paul, Gillian, and everyone else who participated to the success of our holidays !
