Could do with better signage to the place as the brown road signs didn’t mention the Island Arts Centre and if you’re not from the Lisburn district, you don’t know that it’s at the other end of the Civic Centre. First time here. Could do with better signage to the place as the brown road signs didn’t mention the Island Arts Centre and if you’re not from the Lisburn district, you don’t know that it’s at the other end of the Civic Centre. Security were very helpful in directing me last night - very welcoming and friendly. Beautiful entrance to the Centre. Toilets clean and tidy. Parking could go with signs to say visitors parking though as I had no idea where I’d parked and whether I’d be locked in by the barriers. Had a great evening at one of the Seachtain na Gaeilge events. Nice to see the Irish language on the walls towards the arts centre as the language is all around us and the stories are really interesting! Had a great night with some really friendly people. Thanks to Gina and the team for organising a second session after the first was booked out so quickly. Didn’t expect the sandwiches and tea either but fabulous! Well done to LCCC for a super series of events. Much appreciated.

I had a training workshop the venue was great with loads of parking spaces. The access road to the centre can be really busy in rush hours.

A building with great presence. Decent environmental design helps it to sit comfortably within its location at the canal lock on the island.

Modern arts centre with plenty of activities. I've seen bands meet here to practice and there's absolutely loads of high quality classes for kids, including clay pottery with proper potter's wheels. All very well organised and friendly staff. It's a 10 minute walk to the centre of Lisburn from the free carpark here or you can embark northwards or southwards on the canal towpath, which is popular with walkers.

Was there for a small wedding and found it strange that the registry office where the actual ceremony took place was only suitable for 4 people. Strange???

An interesting place for a walk if you don't need to go inside. Free parking & access to the tow path. Clean & dog friendly.

Out with walking group yesterday, saw this Little Grebe (sometimes called a Dabchick) on nest, male was getting nesting material, in the lock outside Island Centre. Going to keep an eye on them over the next few weeks. Found another pair just after the lock gate (right if you're facing Island Centre). Update, the pair outside have laid 4 eggs but have been scared off/harassed by a heron and some seagulls, they have abandoned nest 😡

Lovely place for your wedding, the staff are very friendly and helpful. Gorgeous backdrops for your photos. It also is a council building, a theatre, work shops and other things. The lagan river runs right by it, Italy has a canal in front of it with locks. It has a walk along the river bank to Belfast

Great venue, easy to find with plenty of parking onsite. Tiered seating means good view no matter where sat, very reasonably priced bar for refreshments.
