Popped in for a cake and coffee during a day trip to Stronsay. Was presented with information books and photos of the island and given directions on where there may be good places to visit. I ended up spending a couple of hours at St. Catherine's Bay where I had the whole beautiful beach to myself. Even went for a paddle. As well as a cafe and hostel, the people who run it provide an essential community service for the locals. Hopefully I'll return one day to stay in the hostel.

Had the pleasure of staying at Stronsay Fish Mart Cafe & Hostel. Tara & John give you a big warm welcome and make the booking process so easy. It’s easy and comfortable to come and go. Check in process is uncomplicated and friendly. Very comfortable and clean accommodation. A lounge and kitchen is available. If heading to Stronsay a stay here is highly recommended. Very affordable and value for money. There is cafe next door for a meal and great breakfast. Would highly recommend a stay here when visiting Stronsay.

A perfect way to start a day trip to Stronsay. 7 am ferry from Kirkwall Wed 20 Sept, Mart open on arrival for delicious full Scottish breakfast. Owners really friendly and helpful with information about island & history. Totally ready then for visit to museum, and afternoon walking along coast from Vat of Kurbister. Check on opening days so you don't miss out!

Just back after a wonderful stay at the Fish Mart Hostel. The Hostel was well equipped, comfortable, clean and so nicely decorated. It also had nice renovated en-suites perfect for a shower after a long day out on the island! I loved the cafe next door which serves tasty, fresh meals and delicious home baked cakes made by Tara. Tara and John were so welcoming and wonderful hosts. I would highly recommend this as a perfect base to explore the beautiful Stronsay island!
