Had the whole area to myself - it was incredible. The sights, sounds and smell of the sea made the Brough of Birsay amazing. Make sure you're aware of the tidal times as this is a tidal island! I had to run across the path in knee high sea water!

Amazing place. You have to check tide time tables if you want to walk across the causeway. But just having a moment in the car park an relaxing place. There's a interesting Fisherman's hut a short walk to the right.

Stunning. Visited twice. Two different weather fronts. Stunning in both. Watch the tides for getting stuck on the causeway but definitely worth going over to the island. Fabulous place

What a beautiful place , walked over to the Island ( yes the tide was out ) and we saw puffins.Sat on the beach, and soaked up the 25c sunshine

Lovely place to visit. The sea was very tough, waves crashing every where we looked, so very dramatic. The walk along the coast is clear and well kept, and very much worth taking the time to do, even if only for a few hundred metres or so. The causeway wasn't accessible when we visited, but the Viking ruins visible from the car park, as was the lighthouse. A stunningly beautiful place to visit.

This is a really neat stop. We were there at high tide, but the drone was about to make it over :)

BE CAREFUL OF THE TIDE. My partner and I nearly got caught out by the fast incoming tide while out on the rocks by the causeway over to the tidal island. Some water wading, soaking shoes and socks later, we made it back onto the causeway without incident. There definitely could be more signage around to warn unsuspecting tourists. A local said the coastguard helicopter has been out on several occasions the last 8 weeks. Other than this, small car park with a great view. We visited around 7pm. Beautiful views and very serene. It has a picnic bench and some informational signs with great history lessons.

Great place. Car park can get busy as you can walk out to the island at low tide which is also great but do.check tide times!
