Interesting hour and half in the Chester Military Museum. Worth a visit to learn about military history from Roman to modern times. Open from Thursday to Sunday. £4 entry fee. No parking so park in town car parks.

I didn't plan on going here, but decided to pop in on my travels. Its a nice little museum with plenty to see. I always enjoy looking at the out fits they used to wear in the military, full of so much personality and thought about how to look wealthy and imposing. Wheelchair accessible and easy to navigate, little outside area to with a tank!

Excellent day out for all the family. So much to look at you need a second visit. Managed really well by the team there and they can't do enough for you. The places just oozes military pride. I recommend this place to everyone. I left with a smile on my face. I'm a Army Veteran and advise any forces Veteran to pop in and see the team and the displays on offer. Amazing.

Pretty cool place. Good artefacts and plenty of information to read. Friendly staff and very clean. Could do with mentioning some of the atrocities committed by the Brits too though, kinda sugarcoated everything. No wheelchair access either I believe as there were steps.

We visited here with our 9 year old son, it's not a massive museum, but we spent 90 minutes here, which could've been longer if we didn't have to meet some friends for lunch. The collection covers a wide period of military history, with plenty of information about the exhibits. The medal collection is as extensive as it is stunning, is well displayed and accessable and has the names of the original owners who were awarded the medals which is a really nice touch as some museums don't do this. Lots of historic weapons on display, as well as some more modern types, some fantastic miniature scenes (see my pictures), a few video screens playing content as well as loads of other memorabilia. For the price, it's well worth a visit if you're interested in the subject.

Just called in at the last minute to see if they had anything from a couple of my ancestors, General David Anderson and his son Lt. Gen Sir Warren Hastings Anderson KCB... extremely helpful staff, and within 5 minutes, I found Hastings Medals. (I am still searching for Hastings uniform, which I know was donated somewhere and only found one medal for David so curious where his others are.) It is a very interesting museum and an absolute must to visit if you have any army interest or family connection.

Spent an hour here looking at what Cheshire soldiers did in the last few hundred years. There's a lot to read and there's some nice displays. Really liked the World War 1 & 2 exhibits like the bunker setpiece. Once these exhibitions are done, you wind back to the reception area. But it's not over. You can go outside. (There isn't any signage for this and if I hadn't been told about it, I would have missed it). Outside, there's a couple of military vehicles and then that leads onto another area about modern armed forced. I think that area could be a lot better. Feels like there's a lot more that could be put in there. Ended up buying a few things from the gift shop at the end too.

Visited today and was welcomed by friendly and smiley staff, which is always a pleasure. Was totally impressed at how much the museum had on display, even tanks and canons! There was no shortage of information. So much to see and read about. Absolutely loved the figures. A great way to really picture how soldiers lived and worked. Totally worth a family ticket of just £10.00 to see all of this. A great experience and would highly recommend!

They’ve a new exhibition on Bantams and a new display of poppies. If you ask the volunteers and staff there they will guide you. Fabulous asset for Chester and Cheshire worth a detour and excellent for a family where you don’t all want to shop 😁

Very good value. Lots of interesting articles and loads of medals including two elite VC's. Was quiet when we went which meant we had loads of time to view and read everything. If you've got a sence of Honour you'll love thus place. Thank you.

A highly enjoyable visit to Cheshire Military Museum by a group from Chester Business Club on 8/11/23. Friendly informative staff. Very interesting artefacts on display. I particularly enjoyed walking through time: a well organised collection that lead me from the creation of the Cheshire Military regiment, through the wars, through The Troubles, to present day. Poignant moments in history brought to life. A very special museum in Chester - highly recommended

Fantastic experience, much more there than was expected and something for most ages to see. My grandson of 5yrs really enjoyed it, the military vehicles were the "icing on the cake" for him.

I went to a few of these military museums in the UK but somehow they look all the same. Ofcourse a different historic story but i got a bit bored....can't say if it is me or the museum is in the need of an update. Outside are the modern weaponry....but i haven't seen it...2 pantsers from the 60s 70s...

My husband served in the 22nd Cheshire regiment so we pay a visit to the museum every year for him to stock up on a bit of memorabilia, but we'll worth a visit even if you didn't serve.

Another really interesting museum charting the military history of the area. Displays were well laid out and provided the option to engage in the material in ways that suited you.

Much better than I expected, and bigger. A trip back through time and around the world from Europe to North America, South Africa, India, Malaya, the Middle East, Ulster and Afghanistan. Fascinating and moving, very well presented.

Amazing little museum filled with information and lots (and I mean lots) of artifacts, paintings and oddities. It's a nice touch too having the models of soldiers and trenches, really helps you paint a picture of what life was like in these battles

A small military museum which clearly relies on volunteer staff and others to keep it running. Surprisingly large number of displays and it is worth a visit.

Went to see my grandfather's WWI medals. Met the three on-site specialists who gave some really good accounts of life in the trenches. Not a huge museum but has a good scope and tells the interesting story of the Regiment.

To those who love war history and artillery, it is a must visit place in Chester. Lots of history to read and old artifacts such as tanks , guns , medals and etc

A great space with a good selection of exhibits covering major wars over the past few hundred years. They have utilised the space very well and there is a lot to see, including personal angles about the lives of soldiers. The focus is mainly on the land military services, but the museum is hoping to include more information on the air services in the future. The volunteers and research team are very dedicated and I recommend them for any research related to the land, sea and air services, including relatives.

Chester is a small English town but with a lot of history, even though the museum is not a big museum you can have a good time checking all the items they have collected during all these decades.. I totally recommend checking it if you’re in Chester

Really impressive military museum focusing on Cheshire and the Cheshire regiment but also the wider British Army. Huge array of medals and memorabilia including 2 Victoria cross medals. Lots of recent/last 10/20 years exhibits which you don’t always see, very Interesting.
