This place was AMAZING! The caravan we stayed in was in a little ‘cul-de-sac’ with just a few other caravans, laid out nicely so that you had privacy to sit out on the seats or picnic table thoughtfully provided with plenty of room for children to play. Our 2 boys made friends with 4 other children in neighbouring caravans and they all enjoyed playing on the site and our minds were at ease knowing they were safe and we could easily watch them play. All the lovely families we spoke to return every year and I can see why. I have never stayed in such comfy, clean, well maintained peaceful accommodation with so much provided from wash up liquid to soft fluffy towels. I took a peak at the touring facilities for future reference (as we sometimes camp) and I was very impressed with cleanliness and standards. Staff at check in and out were welcoming, polite and informative. On our first night we were too tired to cook or Venture too far so we had a short walk to the little well stocked shop and bought their home made pizza which was lovely. The scones were nice and I highly recommend the home made ice cream, especially the lemon flavour. We had a little walk past the shepherds huts and barrel pods which looked really cute! They were all occupied so couldn’t be too nosy but I would love to stay in one. A lot of thought and money is invested into this site and for everything that is provided I feel it is very good value for money. We had an absolutely fantastic week and the weather was the icing on the cake. I cannot wait to re-visit and hope it won’t be too long. I will be recommending to everyone.

When we parked up we immediately noticed the deep muddy track marks on the pitch (we found out later that the people that had used the pitch before us had been given running boards) The man left & we started to unpack - as I came around from the boot of the car I noticed a foul smell, I had stepped in dog poo, that was disgusting, we had to leave the unpacking and I had to visit the dog washing facility to clean off my sandals, while my wife got a stick and moved the dog poo into the bushes. (NOT IMPRESSED) we found 2 more “deposits” on the pitch which we dealt with. (Unacceptable) We then found 2 tent pegs (both different) stuck in the mud with the sharp point sticking up (good job they didn’t puncture our tyre or injure ourselves. Putting that behind us we erected our tent, We then got our brand new electric cable (15 meters long) out to plug in our fridge, but we had to plug into pitch No2 as we did not have our own electric box, it was then we found that our cable was not long enough, we went back to reception to get an extension cable, he said that pitch 3 did have its own electric box but it had been damaged & removed !!! We had to pay a £25 returnable deposit for the extension cable which is fine As a gesture of goodwill a free Wi-Fi code was to be left in Reception, we returned the code the next day as it did not work for more than approximately 2 min at a time. Over the course of the next couple of days our pitch became completely muddy to the extent that our car became completely stuck after returning from a day out, the wheels were just spinning and mud was flying everywhere, we were unable to get off the pitch. I went to reception at 17:15 to ask for some running boards I was told no-one was available and the running boards were not kept at reception, so I arranged for somebody to come to the pitch at 9am, and it was noted in a book in reception. The next day we waited until 09:45 & no sign of anyone, I went back to reception to complain and Was told they would send someone over straight away, we were so cross my wife and I got some branches from the floor and stacked them up behind the wheel and got the car out by ourselves, the man came and moved some of the larger mounds of mud and threw them in the hedge and put some running boards down, we also found out that this pitch is not normally used “Later” in the season due to mud, my wife said its not late in the season and we have paid “High” season prices, and if the pitch is not suitable it should be removed from the books. On the final day we went to the cafe for breakfast - our order was not what we asked for but by this point we had had enough so did not bring it up with the staff (they also have open sided bins in the outside eating area which is swarming with wasps). while packing up on the final day we could still smell poo….. after looking around we noticed in the top corner of the plot there was deteriorating amounts of loo paper, it seems somebody had been using the area as a late night toilet. we have concluded that between a client leaving and a new client arriving nobody does pitch inspection/litter pick which we find totally unacceptable, you wouldn’t not clean the amenity block and think it was OK? Also if Oakdown think a pitch is not suitable for a client we feel a telephone call explaining this and giving us the opportunity to cancel/move our weekend would have been a sensible and courteous option, neither of these were offered. We also asked if we could book a super pitch for camping and were told flatly NO - ……. we feel this is pitch snobbery as the fee would be the same no matter what was being set up on the pitch, it was the last straw for us, the initial day with Oakdown in July when we looked around was a distant memory. We would definitely not recommend this site - the email we had back from Oakdown was a poorly executed list of excuses that did nothing to satisfy the totally horrible weekend we had, one of the *excuses" was - "it was busy" because it was peak season......

I can't say enough good things about this place. We had a holiday cancelled at the last minute with another site and they were kind enough to accommodate us. The staff were all so very friendly, cheerful and helpful. The small shop was very well stocked and the fresh pizzas that they make were lovely. The bathroom facilities were excellent and the whole site was clean, very well kept and lovely and quiet. We made use of the play area and the pitch and putt golf course. Easy access to many south coast towns including Lyme Regis. We would love to go back in the future.

Had a fantastic weekend with my family here for the Easter break and would highly recommend it. The facilities were brilliant and the staff were so helpful. It was close to the beach and the donkey sanctuary, so there's lots of things to do. Cannot wait to go back!

Just left here after 3 peaceful days. Its handily placed for a bus into Sidmouth or Lyme Regis and one thing to definitely do is the 20 minute walk from site to the excellent donkey sanctuary. Really nice site, and pitches are big and nicely spaced out. Facilities are mega clean 👌 and modern. It's even got a dog wash

The place is beautiful and relaxing. Plenty to do around like Lyme Regis. Sidmouth.Exmouth, even Babbacome in Torquay. The only issue is the grass cutting at silly times. People with tents should have access to closer toilets and showers. Not just one shower block that's why for me it's a four star rating. Would come again

Probably one of the best sites I have been too. All areas maintained to a high standard no wonder this place keeps winning awards. Toilet and shower block are more than adequate and washing pots and pans and clothing all in the same area. There is an onsite cafe and shop which sells all you need and the food in the cafe is exceptional, the pizzas are one of the best I have had. Just outside the main gate to the right is a very scenic walk to the donkey sanctuary. The hopper bus also stops outside the gate and only costs a pound either way to Sidmouth and back. Will definitely be back for another visit

Lovely camp site, very helpful and friendly staff. Very well keep grounds and facilities. There is always an army of staff running around the site. There toilets and showers well keep clean and tidy. Play area for the children was very nice and big with lots for children of all ages. Lots of space for touring vans and lots of statics and glamping pods around. Cafe and shop was great with homemade ice creams and freshly made breakfast. The pizza for dinner was tasty and tempting too. Didn't get to try the pitch and putt golf course however. Would definitely visit again if we come down that way.
