After trying on probably over 50 dresses at different shops, I booked an appointment with Gowns & Garters. From the start, they were super helpful in letting me know what dresses they had and what sizes, and when I attended, they were super patient as we found my dress. Julie was super flexible with arranging an appointment to meet again, and she was great with the alterations. They were done very quickly and my dress fit me like a glove. I was super happy with my dress on the day and felt absolutely beautiful. Would highly recommend Gowns & Garters.

I highly recommend Gowns and Garters if you're looking for a stunning wedding dress and absolutely wonderful service! I first found this shop when I was a bridesmaid for a friend in 2022, and I knew as soon as I set foot in there and saw their dress selection, that I wanted to go there for my wedding dress. I knew that they specifically stocked Essence of Australia dresses too, which was the designer I adored. The ladies who own this lovely little village shop are so incredibly friendly. They are very welcoming for every appointment, and they are also so organised, and really efficient. Their communication is constant throughout your journey with them, and you can email them at any time to ask them a question, which they are always happy to answer. The alterations service was also amazing, and they were able to make my dress exactly as needed for me to be super comfortable in it all day. I got so many compliments on my dress during the wedding day, too. They also do a cleaning service for after your wedding. I have yet to use this, but I have no doubt it will also be a really smooth process, based on all my dealings with them so far! Definitely go to this place if you love the designers they stock. You won't be disappointed!

I found my wedding dress at this beautiful little shop and from start to finish the service was faultless. I am so grateful to all the help the ladies at the store gave me, especially Saffron. As a plus size lady I was so worried but that was all for nothing as I was made to feel so comfortable. I can't thank you ladies enough for what you have done for me 💕💕

I bought my Essense of Australia wedding dress from Gowns & Garters for my wedding back in March. From my very first appointment with Saffron in April 2017 all the way through to my fittings with Julie in March this year, my experience was just wonderful! My appointments were private, not pressured and I tried on as many dresses as I liked! Their advice was valuable and they listened to my likes and dislikes until I found my perfect dress. The alterations are done in house which is a real bonus as Julie is used to working on the dresses which was a comfort to me. On my wedding day I felt incredible! What an outstanding service all round from Julie and her team! When looking for wedding dress shops, I was very conscious that I am not a regular sample size. I really wanted to see what dresses looked like from the back when fastened, so I was on the search for shops that stocked larger sample sizes. This is how I found Gowns & Garters. I felt so comfortable when trying on dresses because they actually fit. I tried on only about six dresses before choosing "the one". Julie was fantastic in not pushing her opinion on me, but she definitely knew which dress I would ultimately choose. The quality of all the gowns was exquisite. I then had two fittings, which were stress-free. While I had not planned to lose a lot of weight, on the first fitting, it was obvious that I had. I was 0.5-1 size smaller, but it wasn't a problem. It was lovely to know that it would be Julie and the team doing the alterations and to not have to take the dress elsewhere. On the second fitting, I was so impressed, you would not know that any changes had been made to the dress. The alterations work was excellent. I felt absolutely incredible on my wedding day, so comfortable in my skin, which is not always the case. Whether you consider yourself plus size or not, this is definitely the place for you.

Gowns & Garters was the first shop I went to and, thanks to Saffron, I found my dress. It was completely different to what I thought I wanted but it was perfect. Saffron and Julie really put me at ease as I was nervous looking for my dress. The whole experience with them was fantastic and I was always made to feel like I was special. I highly recommend this wedding dress shop.

A love story not only includes those getting married but also those that are part of it in any way and Julie & Saffron from Gowns & Garters have played a big part in our love story in getting to the alter (or should I say beach!) our wedding is not until August but the service and support from Gowns & Garters has been world class, I live up in the North East Of England and have never visited the shop but made enquires at the start as they stocked my dream dress where in the North East it was difficult to source, they supported me with photographs measurements, advice and support remotley which without that I would not of found what I was looking for, I will be forever grateful to Julie & Saffron for taking the stress out of securing the most beautiful dress for my big day! After having a rather bad experience with another bridal shop I went in to see Julie. I knew exactly which dress I wanted but just wanted. I went in to Gowns & Garters and Julie & Saffron were absolutely fantastic. I am so glad I was able to find this little gem of a store.
