Paul and Fiona were fantastic, friendly hosts. Their guest house is immaculate with beautiful and very spacious rooms. There is also free parking. The breakfast options are plentiful with specials each day. The full-English was huge and delicious; each breakfast can be tailored to suit individual tastes. Paul was more than happy to accommodate requests. A lot of the food such as the preserves, butter and bread is homemade. My family had a very relaxing, comfortable stay at MonkBridge House and it will be our first choice when visiting York again.

The perfect location for our stay in York. Walking distance from Monk Bar, the city walls, Minster and other tourist sites. The accommodation was spotless, breakfast was plentiful and delicious and we appreciated the convenience of a parking space. Paul also recommended a few restaurants a short walk away where we were able to eat very well and at a reasonable price. Just wish we’d stayed longer!

Such a lovely B&B, within walking distance of the centre. Paul & Fiona are the perfect hosts. Breakfast was delicious with plenty of choice. Our ensuite room was lovely, tastefully decorated and very spacious. Added bonus of free car parking. Would highly recommend and will definitely go back.

Stayed one night after recommendation. Beautiful rooms and public spaces all in immaculate condition with an eclectic mixture of modern and antique furnishings. Superbly cooked breakfast by owner Paul who took time out to chat. Attentive waitresses who were happy to make our short stay the best hotel experience ever in York.

This is a labour of love, not just an income for the hosts. It was impeccably clean and comfortable. Breakfast was vast and yummy. Having a parking spot in York is a must and much appreciated. The property is very well situated; an easy walk to the touristy centre and just out enough to breathe and recuperate from the crowds. Our hosts were so attentive and we felt very welcome. We loved MonkBridge House and would stay again in a flash.

I stayed here from November 19 to November 21. Let me start by saying that I never give a full 5 on reviews as I believe that there is always room for improvement. In the case of Monkbridge House, it would be criminal to give it any score less the 5 in fact a 7 or 8 would be more accurate. To say they go above and beyond is an understatement. Paul and Fiona are so friendly, helpful and insightful. The rooms are spotless, luxurious and so comfortable I did not want to leave. I had a view of the beautiful garden and the car park from my window. Just a shame that I wasn't staying longer and it was a colder season and I couldn't enjoy the garden fully. Breakfast both mornings was nothing short of delicious. They served an excellent selection of a continental breakfast and a full English breakfast with some items Paul makes himself as a hobby. I tried his home made bread, butter, jam, cinnamon scrolls and bratwurst. Not one came anywhere near to disappointment. Obviously the service was nothing short of amazing. Friendly, knowledgeable and professional. I took Fionas advice and visited some of her suggestions. I didn't get to see enough of York in the two days I was there and I hope that when I get the opportunity to get back there, that this b&b is available and that Paul and Fiona are still running it. I can't recommend this place enough.

A wonderful stay! The building is lovely, and the room was very comfortable; the location is a short walk from the city centre but was very quiet, and the breakfast was fantastic. Fiona & Paul were wonderful and hospitable; we very much enjoyed our stay and hope to return again!

Booked a verylast minute break in the morning for 2 adults and an 11 yr old for one family room. Fabulous place in very easy walking distance to York Centre. Perfect hosts who couldn't do enough for you. Spotlessly clean and gorgeous interior in an amazing house. The homemade touches in the room and at breakfast were delicious and practical. I loved the makeup remover washcloth (especially as I forgot mine). Breakfast - wow! Make sure you have plenty of room, everything was delicious, we loved it. Would definitely return.

Friendly and attentive, ready to answer any requests. The room was very spacious and it had everything you might need. Decorated with taste and kept very clean. The choice for breakfast was fantastic, and very nicely cooked by the hosts. The location is great, within walking distance of the walls, avoiding the people and cars rush, in a quiet area.

We thoroughly enjoyed our short stay at Monkbridge house. The property is well designed as a guest house and kept in immaculate condition. The breakfast had a good variety of options and was served fresh and hot. Our room was very clean and had all the necessary facilities in new condition and full working order. The hosts were fully approachable and yet remained in the background after we had checked in. The bowl of Quality Street in the shared lounge was much appreciated as were the ‘honesty bar’ in the dining room and the stocked fridge in our room. Private parking is a massive bonus in York and charge points are available for those with e-cars. Would we stay here again? Without a doubt!

We had looked at lots of reviews of different places to stay ,when we viewed MonkBridge House. It was given a good review so we booked it. Well! We wasn't disappointed. The first impression was that the gardens were very neat and tidy. The hosts were very friendly and welcoming The room was plenty big enough for the 3 of us staying. It was very clean and to a high standard. Breakfast was plentiful and fresh. The quality was fantastic. Even my daughter had breakfast and she doesn't usually eat it. The property was lovely and quiet which was great for my Autistic daughter. It has parking too which was great to leave the car and have a relaxing break from driving everywhere. Nothing was too much trouble for Paul and Fiona. Next time we visit York we will definitely be looking for a vacancy at MonkBridge House. Thank you for a brilliant place to stay.😄

A brilliant well kept bed and breakfast around a 5min walk from the York walls. Exceptionally welcoming and a beautiful building. Breakfast was lovely and freshly cooked with alot of home made options. Great on site parking with EV chargers, would 100% recommend and stay again. Thank you for a nice 3 night stay.

Paul and Fiona are fantastic welcoming people who have built a lovely B&B with all the modern comforts I needed while still maintaining classic charm. I thoroughly enjoyed my time here and always felt at home and never like any request I had were a nuisance even if they weren't typical hotel questions. They were so kind and helpful. Paul is a tremendous cook as well. The house is about 0.4miles from the city walls, a very leisurely stroll that isn't too far but far enough that the evenings are nice and quiet. I highly recommend spending some time in the garden out back. If ever I have the pleasure of returning to York, I'd stay at Monk Bridge House again in a heartbeat.

Ideally located within a 10-15 minute walk of the historic York city centre. The room was clean, the bed very comfortable and good amenities. Breakfast was excellent, with a great variety. Big portions, so be careful how much you order. Restaurants and attractions were recommended as we had never been to York. I would definitely stay again.

Property clean and well maintained. The room was comfortable, although at the front of the house traffic noise is intrusive, but much quieter at night. The upper rooms are via a steep and narrow staircase. The breakfasts are superb with a range of fresh options, and the managers made the stay enjoyable. Parking available, but limited and entry for larger vehicles would be a problem. The location is ideal with all the attractions of historic York within walking distance. I would definitely stay again.

We had a great stay! The room was roomy, clean and well equipped. I loved the decor and the attention to detail. Breakfast was fantastic. The hosts were very welcoming and provided great information about places to eat and things to see. If I ever make it to York again, I would definately stay here again!

We've just returned from a wonderful two-night stay at MonkBridge House. We were delighted to find that that the accommodation has a car park, and even a couple of EV chargers. We didn't actually need to use the car at all during our stay as the hotel is so close to the city centre. The rooms are beautifully decorated, the beds comfortable and the shower of a good standard. We made use of the communal room downstairs, as well the honesty bar! The rooms also have their own mini-bar. There was a diverse offering for breakfast, and the food was very good. There are numerous small touches and it feels that the owners have thought of everything. The owners were very welcoming and attentive. We would highly recommend MonkBridge House.

We had a wonderful stay at the MonkBridge house last weekend. Our room was spotless and breakfast delicious! Make sure to try all their home-made produce! Fiona and Paul are exceptional hosts with a keen eye for detail; after mentioning once that oat milk is my preference for tea/coffee this was then provided on our table the next morning. We were already missing this lovely place as we were checking out and are envious of anyone who has booked to stay there. Thank you for a lovely time.

This is one of the best guesthouses that we have stayed in the UK. Fiona and Paul have refurbished the house to a very high standard with very comfortable bedrooms. With our group of friends, we were also able to enjoy the rear garden for a few drinks and nibbles. Paul cooked us all lovely breakfasts and with the house ideally placed for the centre of York, our stay could not have been more enjoyable.

Had a wonderful couple of nights here celebrating husband’s birthday. Fantastic place to stay, really enjoyed finding out some of the history of the house. Lots or hard work has gone into making this a great house to stay at, many little interesting touches & things to look at. Breakfast was delicious & hosts were lovely. So handy for walking into York and parking a massive bonus. Would highly recommend & would definitely stay again.

Outstanding! We had 2 nights here during the hot spell, so the large fan in the bedroom was great. The decor and facilities are really excellent. Very helpful and friendly owner-team led by Fiona and Paul. Great breakfast. Only 8-10 minute stroll into the walled city. Car parking out the back was very handy. We'd definitely stay here again should we re-visit delightful York.

Many thanks to Paul and Fiona for another excellent stay - definitely 5 stars. Delicious breakfast made from locally sourced produce. Fiona’s homemade biscuits are lovely and a nice touch. Rooms are immaculate, ours overlooked the beautiful garden. A bonus to find a guesthouse with parking and within walking distance to the city centre. Hope to stay again next year.
